A man does what he has to do to accomplish his brother's exoneration, but would he have gone to such lengths, betraying the very principles by which he has lived his life, had he known the repercussions his actions would have? From the picturesque valley of Franschhoek in the Western Cape of South Africa to the obscure little town of Ballydehob in Ireland's West Cork, Soul Shadow is an emotionally charged chronicle of intrigue imbued with romance and deception, mystery, crime and tragedy, revealing a family whose hot-blooded mix of Irish and Afrikaner genetics tears them apart, and culminates in a shocking and provocative twist that leaves the reader stunned. There surely must be a sequel to this enthralling epic?
This is a remarkable book both in the story told and the way the South African culture and scenery is painted. I could sense the atmosphere almost magically which is something I have not experienced before in reading. I really enjoyed the mix of South African and Irish culture. It really added to the experience. I found the story compelling and the characters intriguing as I experienced the characters as not truly good or truly evil. There was suspense to the very last page and the ending - dynamite - there really does have to be a sequel. A good read.
Enjoyed this well written story about families, struggles, loyalty, love and loss. A cannot put down read with an unexpected ending that causes one to ponder this story again.
