Scott Sullivan has been sent on a not all together pleasant trip down memory lane to secure a location for a client. Sure, it may take some charm and convincing to get the owners to sell, but he’s up for the task. And then he’s getting the hell out of dodge to escape the memories. In and out, quick and painless, that’s the plan. He just hadn’t counted on running into a fiery and stunning obstacle with gold flecks in her eyes.

Danielle Harris has worked hard to make her dream come true. With her best friend, she owns a boutique where she sells the vintage style dresses she designs. When a city lawyer comes along and tries to ruin everything, her Italian temper flares.

With Scott trying to conduct a business deal and Danielle fighting for her dream, sparks fly. Not least sparks of attraction and perhaps love. It’s clear that one of them needs to give in, but the feelings of resistance are deep-rooted in them both.

Jannie Lund has been writing for as long as she can remember. She wrote on and off for periods until 2008 when she started to take it seriously and had her first short story published. It was the first one she ever submitted to a publisher, and it took just a few hours to write. That gave her the impression that it was easy. And it's not. It's really, really not. But it's fun and challenging and she loves it.

When she doesn't write, she spends time with her family and friends. She reads, she crochets, she photographs, she paints, she scrapbooks, she cooks, she bakes...see the pattern? Most of her time is spent creating something one way or the other. She just can't help herself.

Jannie is from Denmark and has lived there all her life save for a short stint in Ireland, where she lost her heart to Dublin.

The main characters in this read are Scott and Danielle.

Scott has to revisit his home town, not something he is going to enjoy as he has some bad memories left behind there.

Danielle is the not the wallflower, wilting damsel in distress kind of girl, oh no she runs her own business and knows her own mind thank you very much! so this story of both of them works up a storm in more ways than one.

Its a book genre type book that I can come back to reading for a little light relief from the psychological thrillers or hard family drama books I tend to read so I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed this read this afternoon.

I have been laid up with sciatica so this was a lovely easy book that didn't take too much effort to work my brain and just relax and enjoy.

I received this book free from the For Love of a Book Group and/or the author in exchange for an honest review.

VINTAGE DREAMS is the story of Scott and Danielle. Scott is on his way to his home town of Morello Cove, a place he never wanted to return to. When he was five years old, his dad had a construction company and used inferior products. People were hurt and even died because of his shady business practices. Scott was beat up because of that. When he moved away he never thought he would ever go back. Yet, he is on his way to meet the owners of Annata, a clothing boutique on the boardwalk. He has a client that wants to buy their location for their coffee shop chain.

Annata is where Scott meets Danielle, one of the owners. She is annoyed from the minute she meets Scott and is downright rude to him. Scott is not one to give up a fight and enjoys sparring with Danielle. Danielle has no interest in his client's offer and wishes Scott would just leave town already. VINTAGE DREAMS will have you laughing out loud and snickering with the banter and sarcastic comments these two are involved in.

Jannie Lund takes her time introducing you to each of the characters and their problems and how they are feeling. I immediately felt as if I knew them all and was right there at the kitchen table hashing things out. In no time, I was totally sucked in to their lives and the issues they were dealing with. The plot is very interesting and had me turning the pages late into the night. I have never heard or read this author before but after reading VINTAGE DREAMS I'm looking forward to reading more of this series. Be prepared not to do anything else once you start reading this well written and hopeful tale. I found myself thinking about all of these wonderful characters long after I finished reading.

I love this book. Vintage Dreams are about friendship, family, and love. The story is well written make it enjoyable to read.

Danielle and Fleur was the best matched. It one of example where friends can elaborate to doing business together, do in their own best part. I love to see how the things that build by the hardwork will make a good result. Danielle’s character are cheerful, emotional and passionate different with Fleur who was calm, relax and wise. Their different personality doesn’t ruin their friendship even make them bond each other. It would be nice to have a bestfriend like Fleur who can turn into sister in the same time. She will always be there for you, listen to all your story and give an advise.

Scott Sullivan is a handsome gentleman who been sent to Morello Cove to take care of the selling property. It had been years since he’d last made the drive up to that place and there had been unpleasant memory in that town. He always been overshadow by what his dad did in the past. He never expect that he find the woman in his life in that place. Scott love with Danielle from her looks and character. Because of her, he can feel the warm, love, and happiness. But their relationship is not easy when Scott must turn back to L.A because his job is over. They must go through the long distance relationship and spend a lot time and weariness to be together. But love will always find its way.

“I’ve always believed that in the end, we all somehow get what we deserve.” - Scott

Vintage Dreams showcases the elements of an independent woman, friendship, and love. Dani is a dressmaker in a small California town outside of Monterey. Having lived in Monterey, I could connect with the oceanic settings and peacefulness before tourist season. Dani is a very passionate Italian, especially when it comes to her work, and she is quick to get angry. Scott shows up in her shop to try to buy it out from her for a coffee chain and has her instantly seething.

Initially, I found Dani to be a bit annoying, but I did grow to love her and the other characters. Some of the incidents with Scott seemed to detached to the reader from his past and his job. I also had a bit of difficulty in trying to gauge the timeline of events. Some of the book would be in a moment, and then without breaking into anything more than a new paragraph, it would seem to have been a few days at least of a time change, and it seemed rather abrupt.

However, the story was still easy to get into and I was entertained while reading it. 4 stars for me. I would love to continue on with the series and read Book 2.

#1 in the Morello Cove series

I received this book from the author through the For Love of a Book GR group (and I'm so glad I did).

Plot - 4 stars - Danielle and Fleur are childhood friends who have gone into the fashion business together, creating unique looks combining clothes and jewelry that they've designed. Their boutique, Annata, is a success. Which is why Scott Sullivan comes to town--a lawyer who is representing a coffee shop that wants to buy their location. The sparks between Dani and Scott are immediately apparent.

Writing - 3.5 stars - I got caught up in the story within the first few pages. At first I found some of the sentence construction to be a little confusing. Such as "...the diner, located awkwardly behind the boardwalk, he remembered coming to as a child worked perfectly for this mission..."

But once the author settled down, the writing was smooth and not distracting in any way. The story moved forward easily, pulling me in to the story and the characters' lives.

Characters - 4.5 stars - Danielle is the owner of Annata who designs gorgeous dresses. She doesn't put up with much and has a hair-trigger temper. Although she grumbles a lot, I found her likable, in a tough no-nonsense way. She's talented, professional, and loves deeply. Fleur, her partner, is softer but no less strong. She's the jewelry designer and Danielle's best friend. They make a great team, each bringing something important to the table, both in their jobs and in their personalities. Scott Sullivan has misgivings about returning to his childhood home because of bad memories, but his job demands it. When he meets Danielle, he is immediately attracted to her. Their camaraderie and joking is amusing, with Scott charming her despite herself. Their relationship is the perfect match. Dani gets mad easily and has a sarcastic humor. Scott is sweet and smart, and he loves to aggravate Dani in order to see her sparks. They worked great together.

Title - The title represents Danielle's and Fleur's shared dream of building a business based on their fashion and jewelry designs. Their items are new but based on the vintage style. The fashion part of the book was prominent, but it really wasn't all that important to the story. They could have had any type of creative business to make the friendship work.

Cover - 4 stars - Good cover because it sort of gives the vintage feel but with a modern twist. It's all about the romance, so including the feet of the two main characters makes sense, with the dress dummy having a secondary position below. Not your typical romance cover, which is a very good thing.

Overview - 4 stars - This is clearly a romance, but it also has a lot of chick lit qualities, and that's a good thing. Instead of jumping right into hot and steamy sex, it deals more with feelings than with action. (However, the sex is included and is definitely hot.). The story has a nice warm feel about it which means it was a relaxing and very pleasant read. There was a nice small-town vibe that I expect will translate nicely to further books in this series. The characters have a bit more bite than usual which makes them very intriguing. In other words, they are not your typical alpha male and retiring female. Dani is strong and forceful, almost to the point that I disliked her. But when we get to know her, we understand her vulnerability. Scott is a doll, but he's confused and dealing with his negative feelings about Morello Cove. When I finished the book, I realized there hadn't really been much of a plot. Hmmm, not really a problem since the focus was on the development of the relationship between Scott and Dani. Even without a lot of action, I was compelled to turn the pages to see how they would resolve their issues. I was definitely rooting for their success. Very nice introduction to this author, and I will definitely look for more from her.

**I received a copy of this book from the For Love of a Book's Read & Review Opportunity Program

This book ticked so many boxes for me. Small coastal town, vintage clothes, a fiery yet independent woman, a sexy yet charming guy, food, great friends, family and an adorable tender romance. The perfect ingredients for a chick-lit in my opinion.

The story was told from 2 POVs which I felt really helped to flesh out the characters. We got to see how both Danielle and Scott dealt with their emotions, insecurities and situations. This also a glimpse into their backstories. For a novella, I found the pacing of the story to be okay. I wasn't bored at any point. Although, the romance was more of a love-at first sight kind of thing and both of them ended into some sort of relationship rather quickly. I liked how the author Jannie Lund showed that love is not as clean cut as most stories claim it to be. It was a fairly realistic picture of a relationship. In the sense that both of the MCs tried to figure out where they stood with each other and tried to overcome obstacles in their pasts as well as in their personalities. I also loved the back and forth banter between both of them. I found myself at each and every instance. I thought they had good chemistry. The supporting characters were easily likeable and a touch of familial relationships gave relief to the romance aspects of the story.

Overall, I thought this book was a great read. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a light and cosy romance :)

I was given this book by 'Goodreads - For the Love of a book group via the author'

I loved this book, it has the perfect mix of everything I look for in a good book. A feisty female lead, an attractive alpha male, and best of all strong friendships forged over food and conversation, it is a book full of sweetness. I was attracted to the book as I love the 1950's and love my vintage dresses. I started reading last night and had finished it in 3 hours.

Scott Sullivan has to return to his hometown, to try and acquire a business property for a large coffee chain he is representing. For him, Morello Cove isn't a beautiful coastal town but a place out of his nightmares, bringing back too many bad memories. Intent on doing his job and getting back to the City, he approaches the boutique the coffee chain are interested in and gets more than he bargained for with the quick-witted Danielle Harris, one of the owners.

Surprisingly, there are so many elements within the story, betrayal, loss even war. I will definitely be looking out for book 2, Fleur and Austin's story (I'm presuming) looks set to sizzle!

ou can never really know what to expect from a book. Even those penned by a favourite author. Sometimes you are surprised in a good way, and sometimes the surprise is jarring, and you are left disappointed. I didn't know what to expect when I decided to read Vintage Dreams, but then, that's part of the fun of reading. And I'm happy to say I was surprised by this novel because it was sweet and romantic and easy reading.

I think the first thing that attracted me to this novel was the cover. It looks fun and sometimes you need something on the lighter side and this one looked it could fit the bill. It did and I enjoyed this novel. It opens with Scott returning to Morello Cove, and he's not happy to be back. I wasn't sure how I felt about the hinting of his dark past--I had no idea if this novel was going to get angsty or sad, but luckily it was soon revealed that Scott had been treated badly in the town when he was a boy. And as much as he wanted to leave, he couldn't because of Danielle.

At first, Danielle was keeping him in Morello Cove because he was attempting to get her to sell the property her shop was located on, but it was quickly apparent that Danielle wouldn't sell for anything. So then she's keeping Scott in Morello Cove because she's Danielle, and he likes her and she likes him. It's as simple as boy meets girl but I liked that these two came together so organically and their banter and flirting throughout the novel made me smile. Danielle was feisty and had a temper, and it was cute because she usually coughed up to letting her temper flare. I liked her sass and I liked that Scott liked to rile her, but was also sweet about it being a good natured and down to earth guy.

The set up for the next novel is laid in place and I'm curious about the history between Fleur, Danielle's best friend, who is a very different sort of person, and Danielle's brother, Austin. I think they could make sparks fly!

All in all, a sweet and romantic story that will leave you smiling and with a feel good feeling. Who could ask for more?

I would like to thank the author for providing me with a copy of the novel in exchange for an honest review.

Scott Sullivan must go back to his childhood town to convince a shop to sell. Going back to the small town is not his idea of a good time. The town hold all of his bad memories that he wants to forget. Once he can get the shop to sell he is out of that town and never looking back.

Danielle Harris owns the shop of her dreams with her best friend. She makes all of the dresses and her best friend makes all of the jewelry for the small boutique. When they get a proposal to sell the shop they dismiss it knowing that there is not an amount of money in the world to make them sell.

Scott is drawn to Danielle the first time he meets her. She has spunk, fire and a sassiness about her that he feels he should get to know her a little better. There is really no reason for him to still be in town because he is not going to get what he came for. The only thing that he is counting on is the beating he might get for having the same last name as his father. And he doesn’t have to wait long.

When Danielle finds Scott hurt and on the street she wants to help him but demands to know what is going on. The lust between them rushes into love without them really knowing what is happening.

This is a very sweet read. The chemistry between Danielle and Scott is romantic and sassy. He loves everything about her and is trying to decide if his career is worth the miles that are between them.

If you like a romantic read this book is for you.

** PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW **

Vintage Dreams by Jannie Lund was a 4 star read for me. She is a new to me author and I was pleasantly surprised on how much I liked her writing style. She made sure there was enough backstory without slowing the book down, but also gave each of the characters their own personalities that really showed throughout the book. Plus the side characters were hilarious!

Scott and Danielle are so similar to each other, I thought they wouldn't get along. They are both stubborn, know what they want out of life and are not afraid to voice it or show it.

Scott and Danielle meet when Scott has to go back home to find property for an investor. Too bad it is Danielle's property he wants. When the two of these characters meet, they immediately get under each others skin. It wasn't love or lust at first sight but fireworks sure did go off. Their relationship evolved and brought the two of them together in the end. You will love the ending. There was moments when you wanted to say "AWW" and there was times you wanted to yell at both of them for being so stubborn.

Vintage Dreams is a quick read, well written and overall a great storyline.

I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. I always like a hate to love relationship and Danielle and Scott did not disappoint. I did think that Danielle's temper was a little over the top at the beginning, but then you get to understand her more and realize that she just blows up first and then calms down. Scott was great because he was there to do his job and didn't overstep trying to get what his clients were asking for. I really liked how he worked hard to get Danielle to go out with him and start to trust him. It takes a little bit to get to understand why he hates Morello Cove so much, but when you figure out why your heart breaks for a young Scott. I definitely recommend this book!

I had the absolute pleasure of prereading this wonderful romance. So tender and gentle.

Scott Sullivan is a driven man. He knows just what he wants... Danielle is just as driven, and yet each of them let the other get under their skin. I loved how their relationship evolved. Loved that Danielle never backed down from her convictions, even when it comes to Scott.

A brilliant start to a series....and let me tell you, it's worth sticking around for the rest!

I really loved this book. It had a great story and characters I felt like could be my friends in real life. It's hard for me to condense everything into a review because I tend to ramble.

Scott and Danielle are a romance couple for the modern day age. She's not some wilting flower waiting to be saved. Both characters had depth. As an avid reader of romance I'm always glad to read about strong heroines.

This story left me wanting more. I will be waiting for the follow ups to the series.

I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Vintage Dreams, a contemporary romance with delightful characters and a well written story. I loved the sparks that flew from Scott and Danielle's first meeting and the way that they keep each other on their toes. Fleur is also a beautiful character and I'm looking forward to reading more about her in the future.

One always reads about women having to go back to their past and face their fears, but in this novel Scott is the one who has to stand up to the bullies in his past, with surprising results. Danielle and Fleur are an example to women everywhere to live their dream, and Scott's recognition of that dream is to his credit. The book ends on a positive and amusing note, making one realise that the future is not going to be easy for Scott and Danielle and a sense of humour will be an essential element in their relationship.

Scott Sullivan is a man on a mission...to convince the owners of a dress shop in Morello Cove to sell their real estate to a popular coffee company. Danielle Harris owns the successful vintage dress shop that is housed in the real estate that Scott is trying to buy. Both of these characters are strong willed without being overbearing and I just fell in love with both of them. This is a feel-good story of overcoming a troubled past, through no fault of one's own, and setting on a path of success, both career-wise and personal. Good read!
