Two family pets, a cat named Two Toes and a puppy called Root, get lost in a time anomaly. They meet up with Veda, a ferret from the future who joins the two pals in their search for a way back home.Their travels take them to prehistoric times, an 1800's carnival, a speakeasy, the rainforest and more. With the help of some interesting friends they meet along the way, they are finally able to find their way home.
A husband and wife writing team that love comic books, fantasy, science fiction, as well as rock and roll, trip-hop, good food and mixed martial arts. The couple lives in Modoc County, California (Yeah just like the big head little arm guy that is the leader of A.I.M. in Iron Man, that Modoc Co.)
I am nine years old and I like this book because it was interesting to read. In this story, Root is a little puppy, Two Toes is a cat. Two Toes is 4 years older than Root, and they both are brothers. One day they go through a shiny portal. The portal leads to a carnival and they meet a ferret named Veda. Veda is a ferret from the future. But now Two Toes and Root have to find their way home. They go in lots of time-travelling portals and they return Veda. But now Two Toes have to get back to their own home. (I think Root was really cute, too!) But I won’t tell you too much or I’ll spoil it for you. (=^.^=)~
Oh yeah and so0o0o0o0oooo like the picture of Hemidall playing with the toy at the end. The look on Hemiball's face is like my cat Fluffy Princess when she is playing. (8^)
An author after my own heart. This was a cute and fun story, read it to my niece and nephew and they loved it. They wanted to go into time with the animals, there's a couple of sci-fi lovers right there. Get this if your kids love animals and science fiction, it's a must.
I LOVE reading educational-oriented books to my children. We have a lot of nonfiction books in this house, but I find that the ones that appeal to my children most and really capture their attention time after time are fiction books with a very entertaining storyline. Two Toes and Root's Journey Home Through Time is a fun little tale about a dog and a cat- and their new friend a ferret, who find themselves traveling through time- trying to get back home, and discovering many historical moments along the way.
Two Toes and Root (the dog and cat) discover all kinds of historical moments in their adventures- each one able to appeal to kids through their magnificent illustrations and imaginative interactive storyline. They venture through a prehistoric period, discovering dinosours and all aspects of the world in that era. My favorite part of the story involved a carnival from the 1800s, where they get to see a time period that isn't often depicted in children's books. They also delve into the Civil War a bit- which is a topic that is pretty popular in this house after our recent vacation to Gettysburg (the ghost adventures totally captured my kids imaginations). There are many more fun places these likeable creatures venture through- but I'll let you discover those for yourself when you read this fantastic book with your kiddos.
The illustrations for this book are vivid and adorable. Animal characters are a huge hit with this family- and Two Toes and Root are just too dang cute! We're in love with them. The story is written in a way that keeps my kiddos attention the entire way through- and the educational undertone is something I absolutely love in this book. It's hard to find a good fiction book, with a fun storyline, that also has a great educational value for my kids. This book accomplished the task flawlessly and it's quickly becoming one of my kiddos favorite reads.
The book is targeted at children ages 4 to 8, but even my younger children can comprehend much of the tale and love the illustrations. My older kids enjoy reading the book by themselves and even my teen has picked it up a couple of times to read to the younger ones. It's just a genuinely great tale that can span all ages of childhood and has a great educational undertone to it. I'm a new fan of Two Toes and Roots, and I can't wait to delve into their future adventures! This series, I'm sure, is going to become one of my family's favorites.
Join two house pets, Root and Two-Toes on an unforgettable journey through time! (How can you not fall in love with a cat named “Two-Toes”. Oh my God so cute.) The book is a great length with enough changing scenarios to keep young ones’ attentions. My favorite part was when they visited the carnival. My daughter was a bit too young for this book but she loved the cute illustrations. I read this book for free through Kindle Unlimited and it was definitely worth it! The plot line is very educational and easy to understand. The puppy, kitten and ferret go explore some pretty interesting places on their journey. Just looking at the adorable illustrations alone would be worth the dollar. RoChe Montoya is a great author with an awesome imagination! 5/5 stars for this little gem. I recommend it to all parents who would like to spend some time reading a fun adventure book with their children.
This is a quality children's book that pulls two animals away from their farm and their humans and sets them on a path to meet some new friends a long the way. Two Toes the cat and Root the puppy meet all kinds of wonderful creatures on their journey. Some are from the future and some are from the past. Each one helps them get a little farther along and a little closer to home.
The best part about this book in my opinion is that while fostering a sense of friendship, adventure and curiosity in children, the book also praises the merits of being safe and comfortable at home with your family. The illustrations were cute and perfect for the age group. Lovely read.
This is an adorable and well-written children's book with a fun and educational theme that any child could enjoy. I borrowed this book with my KU subscription and spent some time over the past couple days reading through it with my (newly turned) five year old son. He loved the book almost as much as I did, and we had a great time learning through the author, RoChe Montoya's, expert writing. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with young children!
I enjoyed sharing this story with my 7-year old. She loved the illustrations, especially with the animals. The animals themselves went on adventure and adventure hoping to find the time anomaly home. They visit a variety of locations such as the rainforest and the sea (the surfing turtles were cute), and also a few time periods. Even though my daughter does not know much about the Depression era or the Civil War, I could extend what was introduced to her in the story. Overall the book was cute with locations and eras that were introduced in a way that was not too much to learn about in one sitting. I hope they meet their time traveling ferret again in the future.
