Decide fazê-lo seduzindo a filha do criminoso. Contudo, quem apanhará quem?

I love Linda Howard. She's one of my favorite authors. I love and recommend this book, because I'm an avid fan of old fashioned tender, loving, sensual romance novels like this one, as well as contemporary romance. It makes you feel good and want to fall in love over and over again, at least, for me. What can I say... I'm a "HOPELESS ROMANTIC". I just wish she will write more of the MCKENZIES'FAMILY, especially on the NICK'S character (Zane's daughter). She's such an adorable, full of curiosity, cute character.

Liked Zane and Chance's story the best. Glad I followed the reviews and read Mackenzie's Magic before Game of Chance.

It was great re-reading the MacKenzies again. There is something almost timeless about MacKenzie's Mountain with Wolf and Mary. The kids' stories aren't half bad either.
I'm glad that Linda Howard refrained from writing stories about the grandkids though, I don't think I could handle not having Wolf and Mary around.
I don't know how many times I've re-read these stories, but they are always pleasurable reading to me.
The only complaint I have with this book collection is that they put Chance's story before Maris's, thus breaking the chronological order. Luckily there was a Table of Contents :)

I loved this book and only wished Linda Howard had published books on the rest of Wolf & Elizabeth's children.

I'm also glad to have found out the last two stories were in the wrong order!

Wonderful Series About a Remarkable Family

This collection contains all five stories in the Mackenzie Family series.

MACKENZIE'S MOUNTAIN is the first book in the Mackenzie Family series. It is the story of Mary Potter and Wolf Mackenzie. Mary is a schoolteacher from Georgia who moves to a small town in Wyoming. She discovers that a student Joe Mackenzie has dropped out of school despite his superior grades. She is determined to convince Joe that he must return to school. When she does, she meets Joe's father Wolf. Sparks fly.

I absolutely love this book. Mary and Wolf are the kind of characters that stick with you. Mary is strong even though she does not think herself as such. She is determined and unfailingly fair. Wolf is one of those classic brooding heroes. Being subjected to prejudice against Native Americans, Wolf was unjustly convicted of rape. When a rapist begins striking in town, Wolf is a suspect despite having had his prior conviction overturned. I really like how the small determined Mary gets her way among these alpha men. The romance between the two is sweet and sexy and definitely hot.

The writing in this story is stong. The language is very direct and uncluttered. I really like how this story is one about prejudice without being preachy.

I have read this book numerous times since it was released as a Silhouette Intimate Moments. Although people frequently deride the books that were written as part of these Silhouette series, this is a perfect little book. I can't imagine that it would be better with a hundred more pages.

The book is on my list of my favorite romance books of all times and I expect to read it again and again in the years to come.

MACKENZIE'S MISSION is the second book in the Mackenzie Family Series. It is the story of Joe Mackenzie, who was sixteen in the first book and is now in his mid-thirties and is now a Colonel in the Air Force. He is in charge of a secret military project. One of the workers on that project is Caroline Evans. Caroline is super smart and because she was always ahead in school, she did not learn to have normal relationships with men. It has made her skittish around men. When she meets Joe, she wants to have a normal relationship for the first time. Just when their relationship seems to be going smoothly, they have to contend with problems on the project that just might be sabotage, and Caroline is the prime suspect.

Howard has a winner here. The book is not as good as the original, but it is still darn good. Joe and Caroline are strong willed, independent people. They are sexy together. The story is good and I was compelled to continue turning pages to find out what happened. Howard does such a great job making her characters well defined and strong such that they are unforgettable.

MACKENZIE'S PLEASURE is the third book in the Mackenzie Family Series. It is the story of Zane Mackenzie who is a Navy Seal. He takes part in a mission to save an ambassador's daughter Barrie Lovejoy in Libya. The mission goes wrong and the two end up alone together. The attraction between them is intense. When the two return to the United States, danger still surrounds Barrie.

I'd rate this book a 4.5. It is not as good as the first two books in the series, but I loved Zane. Barrie I found annoying at times, but not enough to diminish my enjoyment of the book. I really, really loved the information that the reader gets about the Mackenzie family. The prologue and the epilogue are worth reading and I'd give that part 5 stars.

Howard does such a great job with these alpha heroes. This was originally a Silhouette series book. Because of the limited pages, the story is simplified and the plot suffers somewhat unlike the prior two books. There is too much story here for the number of pages and the ending happens abruptly without much explanation of the villains of the story.

MACKENZIE'S MAGIC is the fourth in the Mackenzie Family series. It is a novella about the only daughter Maris Mackenzie who wakes up next to a half-naked man who she can't remember. Alex MacNeil is attracted to the petite woman and soon finds himself wanting a relationship like he has never had before. The two are involved in a dangerous situation regarding an expensive racehorse and attempted murder.

This novella suffers from its short length. While the plot is well done here, the relationship between Maris and Mac suffers because the reader doesn't get a chance to get to know these two characters or what makes them a couple other than an immediate attraction.

I give this novella a 3.5 because I really enjoyed the last chapter and epilogue where we get to see the Mackenzie family in action.

A GAME OF CHANCE is the fifth book in the Mackenzie Family series. Is the story of Chance Mackenzie, the adopted son of Wolf and Mary Mackenzie. Chance loves his family but he feels undeserving of their love because of his past. He runs an intelligence unit and makes plans to take down a terrorist by using the terrorist's daughter Sunny Miller. Chance believes that Sunny is involved in her father's crimes. What Chance doesn't know is that Sunny is running for her life from her father. When Chance strands them in order to gain her trust, he doesn't expect that he will fall in love with her. He knows, however, that when she finds out how he has deceived her, they will have no future.

I liked this book. Sunny and Chance are great characters. I really liked their interaction and romance until Sunny finds out that Chance has deceived her. The resolution of that came just too quickly because of the constraints on the length of the book. I felt that Chance's lies deserved more groveling before Sunny forgave him.

Once again, however, the continuing story of this remarkable family is wonderful.

I'd rate this one a 4.25.

NOTE that this collection has the last two mixed up in order. The novella Mackenzie's Magic is the fourth story not the fifth.

I read this book and put the reviews on each book on the book's page. I really enjoyed this book. I liked all the books within and would keep this on the bookshelf. I had checked it out, but if I run across it I would get it so I could read it again and again. I really enjoyed the horse aspect of this book, I've always liked them and wished I could ride. This book gave me incentive to look into riding/care lessons. I hope you enjoy it like I did. Enjoy! :)

My fav is Game of Chance followed by the original McKenize Mountain. I could have lived with Maris's story and the do goody Zane. I had looked forward to Joe's story but it just didn't resonate with me -- probably because of that God Awful Caroline Evans -- she was a prelude to that BLAIR WITCH!

I liked the characters - some of the romance interaction was overdone. However all of the books were well written and believable characters. It will be interesting to see what happens to Nick Mackenzie, hellion extraordinaire.

This will live on my favorite shelf forever. It is my fervent wish that Linda Howard will revisit this amazing family and write about the grandchildren, specifically Nick. She is such a wonderful character as a child, you can only imagine what she will be as a adult.

Me lo he pasado genial viviendo esa aventura amorosa.

I wish you could give a book more stars if so this would get 10.
If you like big strong man, cowboys, military special forces, agents then this is the book for you.
For all of the big strong man in these story are the equally strong independent women they love.
These women would do and did anything for their men and family.
This book actually has five stories in it, Mackenzie's Mountain, Mackenzie's Mission, Mackenzie's Pleasure , A Game of Chance and Mackenzie's Magic. HUGH NOTE THE LAST TWO ARE IN THE WRONG ORDER, READ GAME OF CHANCE BEFORE MACKENZIE MAGIC,.
All of the stories are great, lots of drama, action, steamy with tenderness and love. Am sure everyone Iwill have a favorite. I loved them all but think book one had the most odds to overcome and showed how love can save a family. One of the son's Zane has a daughter that steals the show in the last couple of books. No one will for Nick for a long time so darn cute....
Get a copy and enjoy.

All 4 of the stories were very similar.
All 4 men meat a strong "virgin" - which alone is a pretty big miracle since they were all close to 30 years old... really? And, they all fall in love/lust within a couple of days and can't live without them! Ha! They were almost entertaining.... one story would have been more believable, but 4 that pretty much had the same theme and the same outcome became uninteresting by the end of book 2.

There’s something about Linda Howard’s characters that just draw you in. The first and main story is about wolf and Mary, an unlikely couple that were meant to be. It’s a lovely story based on racism and bigotry but at its core is a beautiful love story about 2 stubborn people not expecting to find love.

I enjoy this author. She does a terrific job of describing the characters and the background scenery. But even more, she comes up with background characters that are fascinating to consider what they will become.
I definitely will be reading more of hers.

Love this series and read it often but really wish the other siblings had their stories told too.
The author does herself and this family a disservice by not writing all the siblings stories.
Really get aggravated reading MACKENZIE’S PLEASURE and A GAME OF CHANCE as we get told about the siblings lives but don’t get to read their stories.
Read in the eBook box set through my library as I lost my paperback versions of these books in a house move.

1 - MACKENZIE’S MOUNTAIN
Read many times and still love it.
I don’t know how many times I have read this book over the years but it has been a lot of times and I always enjoy it.
Wolf is such an alpha hero and his trying to stay away from Mary for her reputation’s sake is sweet.
His relationship with his son Joe is wonderful but sad, they both suffered terribly due to insufficient police work. (In this we find out about Wolf and in Joe’s book MACKENZIE’S MISSION, we hear about the horrors he suffered.)
Yes, it is now a bit old fashioned but it was originally a Harlequin romance. This shows in how Mary talks and behaves, (that shaking teacher’s finger) but the racism against Wolf and Joe for being half breed Indians, is still very much alive.
The fact one persons unwarranted bigotry and hatred leads to all of what happens, is a lesson still needed to be learned today.
I love how this all plays out and how shocked the people of this small town are when the truth is found out.
This is my favourite in this series with Joe’s book an extremely close second.

2 - MACKENZIE’S MISSION
Quick romance timeframe wise. Everything happens within a few days but doesn’t diminish the story.
Joe is still very likeable enough in his own book but Wolf is the best of this bunch. Probably why I have read it loads of times compared to the rest only been read a few times.
Saying that, I still enjoyed this story and Caroline and Joe together.
Loved that Caroline is top of her field in a man’s world and is equal to Joe and able to hold her own.
My only disappointment is the instant forgiveness. Caroline does tear into Joe and gives him a great piece of her mind.
If Caroline had just held out that bit longer, and accepted nothing less than a grovelling apology, I would have loved her more.
Great ending with them both visiting the mountain and the baby.
I hated the instant forgiveness aspect but that is how the formula of books of this era were. Tough alpha male, virgin heroine not matter her age and forgiveness without explanation or apology.

3 - MACKENZIE’S PLEASURE
I don’t always continue reading after book two as Zane and Chance are never quite as good. I do enjoy Maris’s short story though.
The author does herself and this family a disservice by not writing the siblings stories.
I find it sad that the author glosses over half the children at the start of this book, explaining their lives away in one short introduction and introduces us to Chance, a stray boy Wolf and Mary eventually adopt.
I would have rather read about their other children.
We are now left with Zane’s story, Maris’ short story and the new addition, a boy who names himself Chance Mackenzie when he is adopted by Mary and Joe at age 14.
Though I overall love this family and enjoy the times they are all together, these later story’s never grab me like Wolf’s and Joe’s did.
Enjoyable for the most part with a few eye roll moments for me.
Insta love between the H’s, separation due to Zane being shot and then taking down the bad guys kept me entertained.
Barrie the heroine, being intelligent but acting TSTL was a bit of a spoiler but at least she acted correct at the end and did as Zane had told her.
The epilogue was so funny.

3.5 - MACKENZIE'S MAGIC
Short and sweet story.
Maris just ups and tells Mac she is going to marry him in the midst of horse stealing, attempted killing and setting up the bad people.
Did really love everything that happens once Mac and Maris arrive on Mackenzie’s Mountain. So funny and enjoyable to read.
This story is placed last at the end of the box set, so really is out of order as Chance is not married yet.

4 - A GAME OF CHANCE
2.5 stars. Boy oh boy. Though overall enjoyable, I just want to beat Chance with a heavy skillet at times.
I just don’t feel any emotion on Chance’s side, he is continually thinking how doing something will affect the mission.
Poor Sonia/Sunny. She had no control over who her father is but is exploited due to genetics.
She is extremely intelligent, capable and street smart. She has sacrificed so much to keep her younger sister safe, with no thanks from the sister either. Margreta never puts in an appearance, even at their wedding.
Sunny put things together very quickly at the end but was shot and too weak to tell Chance to take a hike.
She did put up a good fight for a while but forgives him without a real apology, once he tells her about his childhood.
A bad childhood does not excuse using someone to further your own cause.
IF Chance had really grovelled, I would have forgiven his actions but we don’t even really get a decent sorry, more of a “but I needed to do it.”
