Melanie Holmes has her hands full when 15-year-old Ken and 13-year-old Anne, react badly to her impending divorce from their father. Only four-year-old Jeffrey is his usual sunny self.

Further complicating her life is her attraction to Sam Hudson, the detective called to her home when Ken runs off, and when Anne is abducted from a strip club.

Sam is forced to confront his own demons as he contemplates becoming deeply involved with Melanie’s family after she is seriously injured in the same car accident that kills her ex-husband. After she returns home, Melanie’s kids tell her they want to marry Sam, even though he hasn’t uttered the “M” word.

How will Sam react when her kids do the proposing for him? Can the long-time bachelor commit himself to her and her children?

My mother said I wrote my first book when I was five--after I carefully copied the words in one of my favorite stories. A favorite children's book I still have is a first edition, signed by the author, of MISTY OF CHINCOTEAGUE, perhaps one reason I included reference to it in my indie-novel, PACKAGE DEAL.

Counting my current work as a novelist, I think I've experienced at least five different careers, the first four providing lots of grist for the mill of what my characters do or would like to do. One example? Olivia Brown in GRANDDAD'S HOUSE is a realtor. I was one, too! And realtors show up again in CHOICES and in a new book not yet ready for publication.

I hope you enjoy my stories. I love to hear from readers.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Got totally involved in the lives of the characters -- resonated with the plot (though not sure why, since I'm not divorced, nor is my dh anything like the not-so-dear xh in the story). The teens acted just like teens, and they made me cringe just because they were so real. Loved the ending....

I liked the book overall. Melanie is in the process of divorcing her ex-husband. That is enough to deal with by itself...but as a result, her older children start to act out. To add to that, Melanie also starts developing feelings for the cop, Sam as they constantly seem to cross paths.

As I was reading I was thinking how Melanie's older son's reaction to the whole divorce issue was completely believable and her daughters reaction was almost believable although the whole strip club scene may have been a bit forced. I also really liked how the relationship between Sam and Melanie played out and how she gradually introduced him into her family. I found the ending to be enjoyable.
