I'm impressed! Jodie Bailey has concocted a plot that is more action-packed than any other book I've read. This story hits the ground running and doesn't let up, featuring a Jason Bourne-esque series of dangers and action sequences that jeopardize the heroine and leave a reader unable to put the book down.

Impressively, Bailey also manages to weave a romance and an important Christian message in the midst of all that action. By the end of this book, I was attached to the characters, engaged in their romance, rooting for their spiritual growth, and excited to see how they would come out of their situation alive.

Written within the tight confines of the category romantic suspense length limitation, this is textbook romantic suspense at its best. Other authors of this genre would do well to study Smokescreen to learn how it's done! I'll be looking for more books from Jodie Bailey.

Clever title for a clever book. Mission Impossible meets NCIS in an explosively intense tale that never lets up. This book has it all -- intrigue, romance and plenty of action...not to mention a few surprises to keep a reader on her toes. And there's one secondary character that set my heart a-flutter. Really hoping he gets his own story soon. In the mean time I couldn't help speed reading my way through this one -- though I admit to savoring some pretty spectacular Ethan and Ashley moments. Be still my heart! The rest of the time I was on edge trying to stay a step ahead of the villains. A good book to read while cowering under the covers! Awesome from start to finish.

What a wild ride!

Non-stop action from start to almost the finish kept me interested and turning the pages. I didn't want to put it down!

One thing I really appreciated was how Ethan recognised Ashley had lost her faith in God and was instead relying on him, and that he called her out on it, saying he was human and he couldn't be relied on to always come through for her. He was going to make a mistake at some point. He was there for her and he put his life on the line to protect her more than once, but much as he loved her, he recognised he couldn't save her. Most times you read of hero or heroine wanting to be the saviour, so that then they can point the one they love to the true Saviour. It was refreshing to read of a character stepping back from that role, and saying, "No, only God is worthy of that role in your life."

Smokescreen is an action-packed adventure from the very beginning. I began to relate to the main character’s wish for peace and safety, because I was on the edge of my seat for 218 pages! I loved the interweaving detail and technicalities the author wrote about both the military and the cyber worlds. Bailey creates genuine and likable characters in this book, and I couldn’t help but root for their perseverance and restoration of faith in God. If you are looking for an entertaining and, ultimately, uplifting read, this book is for you!

Warning - this is a book that you will not want to to put down after you start reading it. The story is non-stop action and an edge of the seat mystery that kept me reading waiting to see what could possibly happen next. It is a wonderful combination of suspense, romance and faith that I definitely recommend. I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Just finished Smokescreen (advanced copy for the win). As usual, I really liked the book. Jodie has definitely done her homework on a lot of the details and that makes it more enjoyable.

Jodie takes what she knows and spins an engaging tale. If you've read her other books, you'll DEFINITELY like this one. If you haven't checked out her other books yet, I suggest you do so.

I’ve been following Jodie Bailey’s Career since she asked for my advice on a plot problem a few years ago. She was already talented, but her growth as a writer is a testimony to her dedication to her craft and desire to succeed. Smokescreen is more evidence this, from the opening command of her hero to “Drive faster!” to the final resolution. Definitely worth the read, with a firm thumbs-up from me.
