A good book overall.

What I really liked about this book is that Dolf talks about his investing in more non-core properties like: funeral parlours, boat docks, international property, farming land.

Its difficult to compete with the general public for the most popular properties, so for many investors in the more popular metro areas, where it is too expensive to buy a home, we have to go further away. With limited to no funds, we are really left with tertiary markets and non-core properties.

His advice is sound. It was a worthwhile read.

20160412 ◊ Read for my Commercial Real Estate Investment class. De Roos is a pretty goofy author. Good for a basic introduction, although already a bit outdated. Considering some of the incredibly dry textbooks I've got coming up for my next few classes (Real Estate Economics and Finance I'm looking at YOU,) I appreciated the animated delivery. But were I a serious investor looking for guidance, I'd probably seek out a more detailed and informative book.
