Handsome. Wealthy. Famous.

Derek Devereux is a larger-than-life figure, a billionaire socialite whose influence dominates Los Angeles. He and his brothers have captivated the country since they emerged from anonymity.

The Devereux brothers have a secret—no one knows where their wealth came from. The investigative journalist Sara Flight is determined to find out and uses her skills to sneak into a Hollywood party and meet Derek. He’s even more impressive than she’d imagined, and she is forced to walk a delicate balance between investigating the billionaire without his knowledge and dating him.

When a large knife is thrust through her front door with an ominous warning pinned underneath, Sara suspects her mysterious billionaire is more dangerous than she realizes. Can she uncover the mysteries of the man she's falling for… or will her desire for the truth only endanger them both?

Taking Flight is the first in the series of Devereux Novels . The book can be read standalone as the main romantic and suspense plots are self-contained with no cliffhangers. The overall Devereux story arc continues to the next novel.

This novel contains mature content such as sex and violence and is intended for adult readers.

***Special Bonus Devereux Novella***

Included in this book is a copy of Capturing Liberty , which takes place two years before Taking Flight , at the time the Devereux brothers first appear on the scene. Derek's younger brother Stephen Devereux has just moved to New York City and flexes the power of his wealth by saving model/waitress Liberty from a Wall Street asshole.

Their whirlwind romance sweeps Liberty along but she refuses to give up her independence and goals as she fights to make it as a model. When a modeling gig goes wrong, Liberty has to fight for freedom to be reunited with the man she's come to love.

Suspenseful with a side of sexy!
Derek Devereaux is a fly by the seat of your pants, risk taking, sexy as sin billionaire. His family has only been known for the past 2 years and that raises many a question to the outside.
Sara Flight is an investigative journalist who has just come back into the scene after a tragic loss. She is hesitant about taking the job of uncovering the Devereaux family secret, however after meeting Derek and connecting on a deep level, she is in over her head before she even knows it.
Soon, they both are targeted and find themselves in danger. It brings them closer and Sara is determined to help Derek in any way she can.
Really liked all the characters, can't wait to find out more, and hear the others stories!

I was given an ARC in return for my honest opinion.

Sara is an investigative journalist, she set the assignment to find out about Hollywood socialite Derek Devereux.

When Sara meets Derek for the first time they hit it off, that has Sara pondering what their relationship could be, with Sara still heartbroken from her previous relationship and the fact Derek is a work assignment.

Derek is dealing with the loss of his father, him and his brothers are left with the task of taking over his fathers dealings. Derek is a wealthy adrenaline junkie and likes to live in the fast lane.

Derek learns he's in danger when things start happening to him and his family, but also Sara who is investigating him. With their relationship blossoming the dangers increase when Sara stumbles across a secret about the Devereux's. Will they be able to overcome the enemy and make their relationship work?

It was a good read, I did feel at time more details could have been given in certain places, which left some unanswered questions, but it's well worth a read. I'm intrigued about the next book in the series.

Taking Flight

Takes intrigue to whole new heights. Sara is still trying to recover from a tragic loss.  With only her job to keep her a float, Sara is forced to take an assignment she loathes. Loathing is a hard concept to maintain when so much intrigue surrounds the gorgeously mysterious man see must investigate. But when her investigation becomes personal, Sara must make some big decisions.

Derek loves living life on the edge. Fast cars, fast planes, and anything that makes his adrenaline rush keeps him busy. Rich with nothing to do but play, Derek is content to live his life this way. When Evan, his brother, begins to question the accidents that seem to plague him, Derek trays to take a step back from his "edge." His attempt is thwarted by a beautiful woman and his opponent. The beauty,Sara, becomes more than he ever anticipated.

It was an intriguing story that left me wondering how they would deal with the situation. I felt too many question weren't answered. I am interested in reading the next installment.

I received an ARC for an honest review.

This review is from: Taking Flight (A Billionaire Romantic Suspense) (Kindle Edition)
This is an honest review for Taking Flight by D.G. Whiskey, it's a great love story full of action and suspense. This is book one in the Devereux Series and I am definitely looking forward to more. This is the story of Derek Devereux and Sara Flight, I think you will want to read Pulse first to get a background for Derek and the Devereux brothers but it's not a most. Derek is a sexy, mysterious and a dominant alpha like his brothers, they are rich and intriguing characters to the american people. Sara is an investigative journalist who has decided to investigate the brothers and to find out about socialite Derek Devereux, so she uses everything she has to get in to a Hollywood party to meet Derek. When they met the chemistry between them is immediate. As the story progress we get glimpses of the childhood the Deveraux brothers, a little more about Sara's life and then dangers come for all of them. I'm not telling you any more, go buy the book it's worth it!

I have to say, D.G. did an amazing job at keeping the mystery in this book very compelling. I had no idea what the secret behind the Devereux family was until the very end. I really liked that and it keep me guessing. There was also some suspense and some parts that left me wondering what could possibly happen next.
I liked Sara’s character more than I thought I would. She was very good at her job and even though she seemed truthful, she kept some secrets of her own. Derek’s character was exactly as the blurb says. He’s famous, rich, and very good looking. He’s a risk taker for sure, and when strange accidents happen over and over, he starts taking a notice into it.
While this was a great mystery to solve, I found some parts not as interesting as others. Some I felt was not even needed for the book, but then again, it could be in there to set up for the next one. In saying this, D.G. has my attention, and I would read the next book to see how the rest of the story plays out.

Overall this was an enjoyable read. It was fast paced and the story flowed nicely. Taking Flight lived up to its premise that it was a romantic thriller and my interest was kept up throughout and I was kept guessing as to where the story was going.

The characters were well rounded and I had no issues in believing in their chemistry and there was enough steamy scenes throughout.

Initially, when I got to the end, I was left wondering about some plot issues that I didn't feel had been put to bed, however, it's clear from the author that there will be more books in this series where the other Devereux brothers will get a story but there will be a linking plot running throughout. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for the next book.

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book just piques your curiosity from the beginning, especially if you have read Capturing Liberty!
It start with Sara going on an assignment as an investigate journalist to find all she can about Derek! But as she starts digging things take an ugly turn and start getting nasty!
Derek has had warnings off his brother Evan that accidents may not actually be accidents at all! Bad things start happening to Derek and he's also convinced that someone is out to get him!
This book keeps you on the edge of your seat and turning the page because you just want to know what is going to happen next and it gets quite explosive!
I loved this book and I can't wait for the next book in the series, which will be Gary's story! And hopefully a little more will be revealed about the mysterious Devereux Family!
