All the Way Home

Rate this book
For the last couple years, Nick Palmer has raised his little brothers while working in a coffee shop downtown. Just a month before Christmas, his boss makes the worst possible announcement: the café will close if they can't find a buyer. JC, a decade younger than him at sixteen, and Hunter, only eight, deserve the best Christmas his money can't buy. Plus, he's been neglecting his own needs for far too long. When the perfect man walks through the door at the wrong time, a little indulgence turns into much more...

Billionaire Declan Tanner is lonely. Since selling his company, he's got a bad first world problem: guys get intimidated by him or try to use him. He's responded by withdrawing and isolating himself, but on his psychologist's advice picks up a new hobby: learning to code games in a cozy little café. Hanging out every day with Nick, a gorgeous, clever, flirty barista, starts to stir ideas of more... but he has to take it at Nick's pace for the kids' sake.

As Christmas approaches, Nick has to decide: should he let Declan in, or focus as always on keeping JC and Hunter happy? And what if there's a way to do both?

All the Way Home is a standalone gay romance with a HEA ending.

Sweet, frothy cheese. Totally implausible Christmas miracle where everything goes along easily never a hitch. Sweet guy with sweet younger brothers meets sweet millionaire who woos him. Sweetly.

Needed more substance to gain more stars, but it did suit my mood.

Got a bit sick of hearing 'first world problems' mentioned, one more time and I might have lost patience. Declan's issues had me raise a brow when coupled with his young age. And I don't think much of the therapist.

But it was FROTH, Christmassy froth. I knew what I was buying and it made me smile. Went well with my sadly undecorated cappuccino with it's chocolate dusting. Likeable guys, slow courtship, nice little story. Angst free, plenty of sugar and a little taste of spice.

I needed something quick and light before bed so I read this one. 100% unrealistic cheese, but it worked for my mood and the length. Nothing to write home about, but no angst with a stand-up guy taking care of his younger siblings always makes me happy.

Super cute light read with a nice holiday flavor. I liked that Nick and Declan took their time (sort of) getting to know one another and developing a relationship. There is very little angst, just sweet romance and a nicely done ending.

I really enjoyed this Christmas short. Nick hasn't had it easy, left to bring up his two brothers, JC and Hunter, he spends all his time working or trying to play Dad two a teenager and an 8 year old. Declan is lonely, having made his money and then sold the company, he lives hidden away in his mansion, with just some staff for company.
When he is encouraged to go out and try something different, he chooses the little cafe where Nick is working to spend part of his day. Declan is intrigued by the barista and Nick is interested in him, but Nick's life is busy and time for himself is an uncommon occurrence.
Declan and Nick were both easy characters to understand, Declan's depression certainly resonated with me, and the grumpy teenager and enthusiastic 8 year old almost described my own kids to a tee. Certainly a Cinderfella type story, but relaxing and enjoyable.

My kind of romance

Sweet story about two mid-twenty's guys from opposite ends of the social strata. Declan has first world problems while Nick is raising two younger brothers. They get to work it out and it's a win win for everyone. Enjoy!

Short novella read. Seasonal sweetness with a splash of too good to be true ending in a fluffy HFN.

Enjoyable easy read.

*** Terrific Christmas Story; an unlikely heartwarming tale ! ***
Declan, billionaire at 26, is learning coding for gaming

in his spare time, always learning.
Nick, barista, is a hardworking 25 yr. old,

who is raising his brothers, 15 and 8, (for 6 yrs. now). Nick's Café owner is moving, so, the place is for sale, and if it doesn't sell, Nick will be jobless. Declan hung out at the café studying online. He is attracted to Nick, and is excited to meet someone who doesn't know him or how rich he is. It's a chance to be liked for himself. Nick insists on going slowly, getting to know each other, and so they did. We get sweet anticipation, kisses,

and hot sexy times, too.

The wonderful characters are easy to imagine and even if the story is improbable, we enjoy the fun story of these two men melding into a family with Nick's brothers. We see life struggles, along with Nick's positive attitude, well adjusted and loved boys, plus a billionaire who still relates to basic life. This is about a two hour read, so it doesn't get extremely deep, but we are happy with our love of the characters and the upbeat tale.

This is a heartwarming story of unlikely love, happiness, and a super HFN, that will lead to forever. ENJOY !

Keeping in mind that this is a short holiday book I was willing to overlook some plot holes that would have likely been solved in a longer book. Nick is one of those amazing men that makes the best of what life throws at him. In this case, it means that he is the sole guardian of his brothers, who are 8 and 15. He works as a barista, which he likes well enough, but the job gives him the flexibility he needs for the boys. Declan is young, but he has already sold his first tech company for a great deal of money. Now he is bored and struggling with his “first world problem” of not knowing what to do with himself. Together Nick and Declan are adorably sweet.

Light and fluffy and perfectly convenient with easy going characters... essentially my favorite kind of read. Rating is purely subjective based on how sappy and calm I felt at the end of it.

Short read

This was a short book and overall I enjoyed parts of it, however, I just felt like it was lacking in the development of the characters. There was hardly any background about the main characters just a few pieces. And there were some spelling mistakes and holes in the story. I feel like being a short story doesn't mean you have to skip out on some the things that make the story worth reading... like development of the story and getting to know your characters better. This would have been a great read if things weren't missing and the author spent a little more time writing the story and added more to the story.

Another new author for me and I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for other Devyn Morgan books. I will admit that I had a hard time connecting to Declan, as he says himself to his therapist his first world problems are very difficult for me to sympathize with but the author does manage to make him so likable that you can't help but want to wrap him up in a huge Mama Bear hug. As for Nick, well he's just so yummy and adorable that you want to buy the coffee shop yourself. A beautiful addition to my holiday shelf that I can definitely see myself re-reading for many holidays to come.

Lovely.

Ok, these stories are never going to win a Booker Prize or anything but if you are in the mood for a nice, short, light hearted read then these stories are for you. I can imagine that if I was in a book/reading funk then I could happily pick up a Devyn Morgan book to lift my spirits.

Short, sweet and very enjoyable but I wished it was longer.. I wanted the story to go on and on . Great believable chemistry between the main characters.

Short

This was a good story. Short, but sweet, with not a lot of time to really tell much of the back story. Cute, loving story.

Adorable

Adorable story but I definitely want more of this one. I can so see it being a 'book 1' sort of thing.

It was good...

But I so want the stories to be longer! The author writes well and could so put more pages into, but still a sweet short story.
