Mindfulness deserves to be sweeping the globe, impacting every area of our lives. In recent times, I've become consistent with my daily mindfulness meditation practice using the Headspace app. Already I've noticed I'm experiencing many of the benefits Bunting talks about in his book -- and as I keep up my practice, I expect to enjoy many of the other benefits. So why did I only rate this book four stars? The structure of the book is weak: the subtitle promises seven practices, but nowhere are those practices made explicit.

Surprised me with how much I enjoyed this book. Great insight into personal psychology and identifying an underlying issue that is causing stress or anger. Great resource for those in a corporate setting to develop a tool set for workplace interactions.

I'm pretty moved by this book, it's a life changer if applied in every day life. I've recently been promoted to a management position, while also a recovering addict. I live in the moment as best I can, but this book helps put into play healthy boundaries and staying true to yourself.

Absolutely loved it. Bunting does an excellent job at communicating the book's intention with precision (as stated on the front cover). He shares an in-depth discussion about practicing self-awareness and social awareness in both work and life contexts. Great case studies used to exemplify the assessment, application of a mindful intervention and their outcomes. Also shares research relating to mental and physical health, such as dopamine and serotonin release. This book will probably be in my top three for 2019. Hard to beat. Highly, highly recommend.

If you're a leader, then this book will hold value.

When we lead vulnerably and we are able to see how we show up with or around others, we can lead others to be more mindful.

I love the one step at a time approach. It was also great to be given examples of how leaders, which Michael has worked with, applied mindfullness facing both day-to-day and stressful situations.

Compassionate guidance from a thoughtful author who has clearly done a lot of the hard work himself. Found the guidance to resonate with how I want to show up in the world, and to be immediately actionable, which is rare in this genre. Highly recommend.

Contains an amazing amount of research into the benefits of mindfulness in business. It can be a bit much if you are already a mindfulness ‘convert’. Stick it out though, the second half has excellent guidance.

I got some really good thought provokers out of this book - and I have written them down and now I need to re-read and study them. Clearly he has done his research and his meditation / mindful time to be able to write this book so well.

I read it very slowly so I could absorb it. (It was also not a page turner for me.) I am not yet sure who I would recommend this to, yet, which is probably why I did not give it 5 stars.

It is a weird way to show how the leader can meditate. Good for general culture

Linkage with leadership

Interesting that Michael was happy to quote Buddha, but neglected to cite Christ. The framework linked to leadership was helpful.
