Oh my god. I could never have suspected what I was letting myself in for when I chose this for a quick thrills read. Erotic is what is billed, but it hovers somewhere between horrific and hilarious.
It opens with a three-titted stripper fudding herself to the thought of a small business loan. This story is a belter. It's like someone was tried to write the least erotic short story they could imagine and submitted it for publication on a bet. "They'll never publish it Davey!" "Aye they will." The stripper's man is described in the most repulsive terms possible, unpleasant to the eye, ear and nose. He's shit in bed. He doesn't clean his dick. He doesn't wipe his arse after a shite. The joy of audiobook was I was treated to the sound effect his giant plopping shite going in the pan - SPLOOSH! Nothing more erotic than hearing a dirty auld bastard crank one out in the shiter.
The rest of the stories are less ridiculous than that one, but most focus on brutality and revenge, which I'm all for, but not when I'm trying to get my wide-on. They're mostly power fantasies with no erotic element. By that I mean, sex is participated in purely to further desire for something else. The participants are usually getting off on the power or the dominance, but rarely interested in the actual sex. It's difficult to make a story sexy if none of your characters feel particularly sexy and are dreaming about what they're gonna buy with their money while their junk's getting rummaged.
One story was kinda sexy, a cuckold fantasy in which a guy fucks his boss's wife. That, mostly due to better writing, was at least about the eroticism overpowering the pre-set powerplay going on.
True story-In an attempt to check out a kindle book from the library, the only items I could find available to check out were romance...and this one.
A collection of short stories gathered by the popular urban erotica author Noire-there are some hard hitting authors in this group-K'wan, Joy & Andrea Blackstone to name a few.
The stories are brutal and there is lots and lots of sex. I just wasn't able to find the redemption/lesson learned you usually find in urban lit. Instead, each author seemed to go for the shock factor more than anything. The one redeeming factor was the presence of women who were determined to make it in whatever way necessary to get what they want out of this world. It is true that the stories are told without apology or restraint but there is little sexual pleasure here.
Quickies are great! I enjoyed 99% of these short stories. Not a fan of Author Joy. I totally missed the point of that story. All the others were cool. My first book by Noire. This compilation is a welcoming introduction to other authors. I would like to engage with another book of this type. Any recommendations?
My absolute favorite tale by far was called "Ayeesha". Other tales were similar to one another and the story order could have used some shuffling around.
First story - disgusting. Not sexy , plain nasty. Man in the story is gross, dirty, doesn’t wash , doesn’t wipe his butt after a dump, swears, beats and burns girlfriend’s face .... What did I just read?? Ew.
Second story - ... I think i will not be finishing this book.
This is a book about women who seek beyond what they are look ing for. im not quite sure this makes any sense but. thata how i feel. i guess what im trying to say is they are lookin for something more than ordinary!
This book was ok it had some really hot stories but it also had some that I felt like I had to rush through them it didn't keep me on edge like I originally expected.
OKAY , THE FIRST FEW CHAPTERS Were NASTY !!!! I AM GLAD I GOT THROUGH THIS BOOK THOUGH BECAUSE SOME OF THESE STORIES WERE UNBELIEVABLE OVERALL GOOD BOOK THAT KEPT MY ATTENTION !!!!
Noire Presents: From the Streets to the Sheets ooohh wee. Now if you thought Zane could write some short stories to titillate your mind, then you need to expand your horizon. I love all authors, I mean they keep me reading and showing me that book are just limitless to where they want to take you and this book was one of them. When I first saw this book I didn’t read the cover and thought this was just one story, I was glad I was wrong. You know I don’t even think these were quickies because some were long and some were short but they were all good. I don’t even know where to start. It was grimy like it took place in the hood, each story had different twist and turns but I feel like the theme with each one was karma and how big of a bitch it can be. Charge it to the game by Jamise L. Dames was the first story in this book where I did that face of oh did that really happen for real. It was where I started looking into this karma theory really. So, there is the ride or die chick who takes a hit when her man does someone dirty and she is forced to pay off his debt. She loved him enough do it but he didn’t and I was like you coward. Throughout this book you see sides really shifting and for good reason. Towards the end true colors are seen and sides are chosen and what she does to this man when she learns the truth was wow.
