He had no idea why a Special Action squad was trying to kill him and his team. All he knew was that they were chasing him through urban wasteland that had been a major metropolitan area. He had worked in the Wild Areas and Free Fire Zones for ten years. Now he was one of the hunted.
He’d joined the Resource Security Force to assure the scarce food, and water was evenly divided. Yet over the years his role changed it had become stand by, stand down and just report as gangs had gained more and more power. Corporations thrived while ordinary men and women struggled daily to survive yet he was ordered to not to interfere.
Vin and his team were not important enough to rate a Corporate Special Action squad; they had gotten in the way of something. Something or someone who was much bigger and more important than a Resource Security team.
A fast and engaging story. At it's core it is another dystopian future where there's a battle between the haves and have nots. Vin Tanner and his team get a small peek behind the veil and now have to run for their lives. I've already started book two.
So - what if the good guys are really the bad guys and what if some of the good/bad guys work out what is ‘going on’ and decide to do something about it…? Is a pretty good scenario for a really good read? Enjoyed this first in the series with gritty good (really good) guys and fanatical bad guys. Just REALLY hoping the following chapters are ready to read.
Fast read. Excellent short military science fiction with great action, good strategy, and tactics. The storyline is an apocalyptic extrapolation of climate predictions, world shortages, and the continued selfishness of today's 1% wealthiest carried to the next logical step. Free from Amazon Prime.
