I am happily married to my husband of almost nine years and have two wonderful children.

I have always loved reading and writing and am thrilled to have published my first novel.

Paranormal romance is my go to genre and the genre I prefer to write in. I love the unique feel of creating an entirely different world and implementing it into the human verse.

I'm going to start this review (which will be negative) by saying that the writing itself wasn't awful. I wouldn't say no to reading more by this author at some point.
I'm going to start the negative portion of this review with the technical. This book really needed a stronger editorial eye on it. there were inexplicable tense changes, wrong word choices (which can probably be laid at autocorrect's door), and random wrong emphasis. In addition to the wrong words being emphasized there were formatting errors that caused random italicized words and sentences.
The next bit is spoilerific so I'm going to say Google is your friend and put the rest under the spoiler tag.
I wouldn't have had an issue if it hadn't been made clear that this author's universe was squarely set as basically the same as ours. I'm not someone who requires punctilious accuracy, I'm a WHOVIAN for goodness sake. But a quick Google search would have solved myriad problems.

While this book is cliché, and standard witch and vampire fare with nothing really to make it stand out from all the other typical vampire stories out there, the romance grew on me. The time traveling is the basic portal, throwing Mary-sue modern girl into the past. While Zach is the basic dark, brooding, bad boy type. But in the typical Twilight style, the romance is what draws a person in and you want the two to put aside their differences and heated arguments to work together to solve their problem. This story isn’t without drama and danger for the two with Zach’s abusive father hunting them and the civilization around them being rather anti-magic. At times I got annoyed with Cadence. She seemed rather unreasonable, even with the book being more from her point of view than Zach’s. The other issue I had with this book is that it doesn’t feel like a book 1. It feels like there is at least a book worth of back story preceding this book which made it rather hard to follow since I keep asking who certain characters were who we hadn’t actually met within this book (like Trent) but were just referenced constantly. I’m still eager to see where their romance will go and definitely intend to obtain the next book in this fun series and if the cliffhanger it ended on is any indication the time periods they will land it may play a greater role, rather than just being a basic backdrop of small rustic peasant town.

Zak is a 1,000 year old vampire who is on the hunt with his brothers and sister to find the last in the special bloodline the witch, so they have come to Bedford Falls. The coven will not allow anything to happen to Melody and the coven has been killing vampires as long as vampires have been killing witches. Cadence is not interested in Zak because of what he is and what he does but she feels guilty about setting him up. When Zak finds out that Cadence had betrayed him he wanted to kill her he goes to her house but he could not and would not harm a hair on her head. He was in a disagreement with Cadence when Liana appeared and changed everything in their lives by sending them on a journey they have no control over. Lots of suspense and romance as well as intrigue and time travel. I purchased this book. I am providing an honest review.

I loved this story about Zak, a vampire, and Cadence, a witch, who are flung back in time to 1014 by Zac's resurrected mother who is a powerful evil witch.

Zak and Cadence are mortal enemies but need to work together to get back to their future. They can only travel on the full moon, but they travel in hops, never quite going the whole distance to their future time.

This is their story of their adventures whilst trying to find their way home. Whilst in the past, they have to be careful not to do anything which will change the future.

I thank the author for a free copy of this book.

I enjoyed the story well enough but I got caught on the background.

Vampire Zak and witch Cadence get sent back in time to the US in the year 1014 where cabins/houses already exist. The people involved weren't Indian. Boats travel back and forth to Europe (in 1014??). The location is referred to as US.

The story should have been relocated to somewhere in Europe (and just use a coach to travel to somewhere else).

Do some research

The story concept was unlike any I've encountered; the characters were realistically different, the plot twists were totally unexpected...kept me in questioning suspenseful anticipation till nearly the last page! A thriller indeed. I received this novel from StoryOrigin. This is my true and honest review

I liked both the main characters and can see what the author is tending to write in a few more novels that are a carryon from this one. I much prefer a standalone as the whole book was them both trapped in time and moving forward to another time by a few years, after a while this got boring for me.

Book #1!!!

Vanished is the first book in this series and is a bit sluggish at times...I do however feel that as the plot and characters gained momentum that this series has incredible potential. I am looking forward to book #2. I recommend.

Awesome....

Ok I've read Ms Shaw's stories before and loved them...this one is no different. Her characters are really good and interesting but most of all Zak is loveable! (Just don't tell him I said so!) Cadence is so cute and funny. To be lost back in time must be scary but at least Zak has lived in those times before. Great storyline, great characters...what more could you ask for! Definitely recommend it and now to read the next in their journey.

Wow another Bethany Shaw winner - so looking forward to reading Lost. Loved Vanished - the relationship between witch and vampire is unique as is the story. Get this one and read how the two time travel together all the while trying to find out just who and why was Cadence blocked!

Do you believe in Time Travel? Ohhhhh My Goodness I can't imagine traveling through time. This was an interesting book, two people who are enemies yet attracked to each other travel back in time to the Winter of the year 1014 A.D. Not by choice either they were sent here by a Evil Witch.
Cadence Hopewell is a Witch but she has trouble with her powers they a sporadic. Did you know Witch's and Vampires always seem to be at war. Trying to get rid of the Vampires the witches brought someone back to life so she would get rid of them.
Zakariah Smith who went by Zak is a Vampire who feels betrayed by a certain witch so he went to confront her away from her coven. That was a bad idea. There seems to be some twists and turn in the Adventures between a Vampire and a Witch. Better yet who Vanished? I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

I have to say this is one of my favorites by Bethany. I do read time travel it's just not my go to, but this is definitely the exception. I really loved this one. I could hardly put it down because you just didn't know what was a round the corner. It does end on a cliffhanger, but I'm okay with that. This story needs more books because it's just jammed packed with twists, adventure, and passion. Cadence and Zak are supposed to be enemies. Zak is killing off witches and in turn the witches have brought back his mother to help end the family of vampires. Now these two find themselves stuck together after being thrown back in time by his powerful mother. They shouldn't want to be together, but there is just something that can't let go. They can deny all they want, but they can't stop the pull. They must work together if they're gong to survive and make it back to their time. They must be careful because they could accidentally change the future. I can't wait for the next book and see what time period they are in now.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

I really loved this book I have not read a time travel book in a very long time but the fact that this has vampires and witches, and even werewolves makes it awesome, the only problem for me was that you can tell there is a back story to everything and at first I felt a little lost but the more I read the more answers I got, I really like Zak, yes for some reason the bad boy, or damaged have appeal for me (because love can fix it) Cadence I feel will come into her powers I hope in time, I really can't wait to read the next book I hope we learn more about Zak's siblings and Cadence sisters as well I do highly recommend this book!!! Oh and the bonus excerpt for book one of the wolf wars had me running to get it as well

This vampire/time travel romance has a great start with book 1. However, the plot is very familiar and mirrors the t.v. series "The Originals." Not sure if the show took inspiration from the book or vice versa, but just as I love the show the book is just as intriguing. I especially love the melding together of the vampire genre with time-travel which are two of my favorites. It also benefits from having a little witchy magic thrown in. Book 1 leaves off at a cliff hanger with our hero and heroine stuck in the past and fighting to get back home to the present. Book 2 apparently comes out in March 2016 and I can't wait to see what awaits the pretty witch and bad-ass vamp!

A Times Journey Novel Volume 1
Zak an original vampire. Cadence a fledgling witch whose powers have been bound. Cadence coven wants Zak dead, so they resurrect his mother to kill him and she sent both Zak and Cadence back to the year 1014 AD. Zach gets his brother Harrison to help get them back to there time. Nothing is ever as simple as it seems as they find out that time is different on each leap and a month is but a day and every encounter has consequences. Now only having each other there chemistry grows and until passion ignites. I thought it started slow, than picked up. I received this for a free review.

I am not typically a fan of time travel novels because they are often unnecessarily convoluted and 'scientific.' In this novel, Zak and Cadence are sent back in time by a witch, and they are constantly trying to return to their own time, without upsetting the timeline. Essentially they start out as enemies, but there is a undeniable chemistry between them that becomes harder and harder to ignore the more time they spend together and away from their warring families. It is a sweet, slow romance with suspense and intrigue throughout. I really love the characters and how they change each other for the better, and I can't wait to read the next book to see where and when Bethany Shaw takes them.

Vanished by Bethany Shaw is Book 1 of A Times Journey Novel Series.

A very enjoyable read with an interesting storyline. Ms. Shaw gives us a great set of characters, sizzling chemistry and vampires, witches and werewolves, oh my! Kudos Ms. Shaw for a great start to a new series! There were some editing and formatting issues throughout but nothing too troublesome that it would take away from the reading experience.

An ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.

A great beginning for a new series..A witch and a vampire cursed into the past..Must figure out how to work together and get back to the future where they belong..
Because of who they are,, they should be enemies..He has been tricked by a witch, and she hunted by the vampires..
As they hopscotch through time, they learn they have to trust each other to succeed. And decide if their feelings for each other are real.

Vanished Review

Zak is a vampire. Cadence is a witch. Sworn enemies that are sent back in time by his viscous mother. The two have to set their differences aside if they ever want to make it back to the 21st century. Time travel is definitely interesting with these two.

Past vs Future; Good vs Evil

This book covers it all....good versus evil then hey that's throw one of each into the past. Witches versus Vampires, an old myth but just maybe it wasn't always that way. This is book 1, it ends with a cliffhanger but that's ok, I can't wait to see how this story ends.
