After years of exploitation by the Earth governments, the space colonies send five young pilots trained to operate the Gundam in an attempt to take down the Earth Allied Forces.
As bad as this manga is, the plot is still much clearer than the anime. There is absolutely no character development, though, which is the biggest disappointment since the characters are the best thing about Gundam Wing. The art is still confusing, the dialogue still awful, Dorothy is still crazy with creepy eyebrows and Duo remains the adorable one with the only personality in the volume. If you love the anime, want to actually-sorta understand the "plot" and can laugh at terrible manga, this series is for you.
I'm pretty sure that my knowledge of the series is what's allowing me to read this and understand what's going on. I don't recommend it as a start to the series, but maybe as a recap if it's been a while since you watched the anime. With knowledge of the series -- even though I never saw the whole thing -- it's fun to read.
It's official that the anime far exceeds the manga now. The manga's strength lies in its straightforward telling of the story which makes it feel and seem less convoluted even though there are some incredibly cringe worthy lines.
Player 1: "Don't. You still have to kill me." Player 2: "Oh I will kill you. I'll kill you hard."
There's uh, some weird translations going on, however I did capture the gist of one (and practically only) brewing romances. Ya wanna know what really gets the blood flowin in this volume?!
Nobody does giant robots like the Japanese! This volume contains chapters five thru eight of this series. Will the space colonies and the earth learn to get along, or will war continue? Who has the best giant robots?
