Stepbrothers #1

Her Stepbrothers are Dragons

Rate this book
Holly Brewner knew she had a problem with Christmas Eve, but she thought her way of celebrating was better anyway. Twelve days of gifts and on Christmas Day, the big one. Her father and she had celebrated every year like this, but this year was going to be different.

This year she had a new stepmom and two stepbrothers, who happened to be dragons, and that changed all her plans.

Upon their arrival, her house burned down, she was shot at, and now she was staying in a cave for two days as if that were normal. On top of that, her two stepbrothers, Darius and Malcolm Longfellow, were claiming they were her mates and that they were going to marry her on Christmas Eve.

If one ought to approach the New Year with the philosophy, “Begin as you mean to go on,” I am supremely fucked.

Stupid plots I can handle, but stupid characters who are assholes with no redeeming qualities, save their ability at buttsex, or who are an attempt at a strong heroine without actual backbone… that’s just something I can’t forgive.

I mean, look, I have some problems with the “destined mate” trope to begin with, but if the plot mechanics involve BOTH PARTIES going, “You walked in and my heart went BOOM” and they’re both all for it and both understand that’s what happened, that’s one thing. But having one party going, “What the actual fuck is happening,” and then doubling down by not making the non-consenting party suddenly cool with everything with no transition from “WTAF” to “Put that in my ass,” is both insulting and bad writing.

Also I spent $3 on this and it’s clear from the random punctuation and misspellings and occasional tense changes that no one edited this thing. At least have someone who can say, “Why are there random quotation makes in the middle of this sentence? And this one? WHY.”

WHY basically covers all of this. Look, you wanna write ridiculous erotica, you know that we’re all over that. I dish out the F+’s because that explains just where we are with the well-written of those. But you gotta have something to back up that hilaribad, otherwise IT’S JUST BAD.

This short story is a quick read, a perfect length for a busy schedule. There are quite a few "stepbrothers" with paranormal tendencies, this is the first that I've read. This one is quite spicy and centers around the Christmas holiday. I enjoyed the characters, the story line and the setting. Good vs. evil and a nice love story to boot.

Holly's two dragons are quite the alpha men, “we won’t do what you’re not ready to do, but we sleep with our woman.” Darius looked behind her and frowned. “Where did you get all those blankets?” I liked this book, it was short but quite enjoyable.

Ok

This was just okay. It could use another run through with an editor... at one point early one the main characters name was misspelled. It felt a little rushed as well. I'm definitely interested in what will happen next, so I hope there's a sequel.

When I first signed up for this book on NetGalley I was uncertain it would have been better than the last book I read from this author, Her Stepbrothers Are Demons. Her Stepbrothers are Dragons was slightly better.

The story is set around Christmas and her father getting newly married, I found a lot of similarities to this book and the Demons one. While the plot shifted gears quite frequently this one was a bit more put together than the other.

There were some plot inconsistencies too, like Holly not knowing about Dragons, but suddenly knowing she has fae blood in her, or her grandparents being Fae but not over in this realm. If she didn't know about the dragons and asks if vampires and others are also real, how would she know she has fae blood in her? She would know about those, I would think, if she knew about Fae blood.

There is a gang where Holly lives who suddenly comes after her, it is never explained why. Then as they are flying the plane goes down, and the men ask their pilot where they landed, Nebraska, but they suddenly know where a cave is?? And then they also go and get supplies? How, at first they didn't know where they were how would they know there was a cave let alone go to get supplies and not go to get a hotel it was weird. The villain also went down pretty quickly for the story for my taste.

The sex, there actually was very little sex in this book, as compared to the other book I read which at times I felt had TOO much. There was an almost sex scene which suddenly changed gears too quickly because someone else showed up. Later they have sex, but it isn't really that explicit, for an erotica book, and one of the men it isn't clear that he finds release, but suddenly Holly and Darius have tattoos on them. Later Holly is told she is pregnant.....the weird thing was where Darius was it's not possible to have children, ok well not completely likely, its very small percent that he could get her pregnant that way and yet she is.

Then there is the epilogue, the book didn't feel complete, and that didn't feel like a great place to leave the story, we were told of these Elders but never saw, or spoke to them. Too many loose ends. Too many parts of the story that got too cheesy, and made me roll my eyes, still it has potential. I think this author has great ideas, but she just needs to get her pacing and consistency down a bit more. As well as an editor.

As far as pacing goes, by chapter 3 the men are claiming Holly as their mate and trying to explain things to her, it was a bit too soon for my tastes.

I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me a copy of this book for FREE, the views in my review are mine and mine along

Her Stepbrothers are Dragons - Stepbrothers Book 1
Trinity Blaio
Publisher: Riverdale Avenue Books
Date of Publishing: December 23, 2015

Adult content and strong language. For mature readers over the age of 18 only.

Holly receives an unexpected letter from her father telling he has met a woman and fallen in love. He has married her and she will be coming with him to spend the holidays with Holly. They will also be joined by his two new stepsons. There is a short codicil from her new stepmother telling her how much she is looking forward to meeting holly and about her sons. Holly is hurt that her father gave her no warning that he had met someone, much less thinking of marrying her. It had been just the two of them since her mother walked out when Holly was three.

Holly decides to work on her new clients ad campaign when she looks at the names and realizes it is her new stepbrothers and that they could endanger her job she decides on a little revenge based on the 12 Days of Christmas and sends six "gifts" to their hotel for the six days that had already passed. When danger threatens Holly's life Malcolm and Darius sweep her away to safety. When they are given no choice they meet the challenger head on in a fight to the death. Will their joining end before it has begun?

I laughed so hard as I read the opening chapters of this novella that I nearly cried. As will you. The girl has an imagination that made me glad I was not on the receiving end of those gifts. Her mates are gentle much like a iron fist in the velvet glove technique. The love and protect Holly and remove any threat to her. Some of their defense of her is a little gross such as crispy critter gang leader and gang member sushi, but hey it gets the job done. told with care and humor this is a story that will have you looking for more in Trinity Blacios stepbrother series.

My rating of "Her Stepbrothers Are Dragons" is 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Holly struggles with Christmas each year. Her memories make it difficult but she has cobbled together a tradition that works for her and her father. Then she learns that her father has remarried and she didn’t even know he was dating! The hits just keep on coming when Holly’s stepbrothers use her job to investigate her and a little revenge is in order, but that all changes when Holly meets the brothers in person. She learns her stepbrothers aren’t quite human and believe she is their mate. Can Holly accept all the changes happening in her world?
In Her Stepbrothers’ are Dragons by Trinity Blacio we find out. I really enjoyed this story. Holly was a firecracker. She didn’t take any stuff and when the brothers thought they were being sneaky she put them in their place and I chuckled even as I felt the brothers’ pain. Holly was a strong female character and while her body wanted the brothers, she was determined to make them earn her respect and her love. She didn’t make it easy for them and the brothers learned the character of the woman meant to be theirs. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Holly and her men learn to bend and compromise. Ad while they are fated to be together, Ms. Blacio didn’t make it easy which I liked. This story was well written and full of laughter, love and honor. I am a fan of this author and this is an example of why that is.

Holly Brewner already knew that this Christmas would be different then others because it involves a stepmother and two stepbrothers. The last thing she expected was for her house to get burned down, to get shot at, and to be claimed by her two stepbrothers who just happen to be...you guessed it... dragons!

Can Holly make it thru this Christmas with her life and her heart intact? Read and find out!

I received this book as an ARC from Net Galley for my honest review

One thing I can say for Trinity Blacio is that her readers asked and they definitely received. Any issues we found with the last book were completely gone. This book is complete with no confusion or left over questions, filled with passion, action and excitement.

My favorite character in this book would have to be Holly. I loved how she did not just give in to what her stepbrothers wanted, she didn't just readily accept that they were dragons and was not afraid to ask questions. I mean cause I don't know how cool I would be with a shifter romance in the real world..lol just saying I may have some questions before I gave in to their hotness!

Over all really good book can't wait for the next one in the series!

I received this free eARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Meh. I got intrigued with the dragons part and requested it, but it wasn't up to par of what I was expecting. The writing was stiff and jerky. The author went from one subject then jumped into another conversation without any indication it was going to change.

And the characters. I mean, it's fantasy/sci-fi, but if two random guys who just became my stepbrothers came up to me and said that they were my mates for life, I think I would have a bit of trouble bowing down to that statement.... Maybe I'm more feisty or independent than Holly, but I would have a lot of trouble just taking their demands.

And the fact that they knew each other for a week and then got married? No. This was too much in a small, tiny book and there should have either been more of a time frame in this book or a longer book with more details and in-depth information.

So this was okay. Definitely not for me and I won't be re-reading it again. I'm glad I got this free eBook and I think other readers might enjoy the story more than I did.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book was about a woman who meets her new stepbrothers, finds out they are dragons, has her house destroyed, and ends up mated. Sounds simple enough, right?

It felt like there was definitely something missing in this book. I liked the premise and don't have a problem with smutty paranormal reads (check out my reading list and that's 90% of what is on there). What I didn't enjoy was the rushed nature of the book and the lack of real engaging moments. We meet Holly and get a resume of who she is, then she decides to take revenge on her stepbrothers really quickly for something I didn't quite understand, then they meet, there is a gang (?), there are dragons... it goes on and on without really engaging the reader. I'm all for hopping right to it, but I didn't know how to even feel about the main character.

I'm sorry I couldn't say more good things about this book. Seeing the description made me request it but it didn't really deliver.

"3 out of 5 stars, Christmas is Holly’s favorite time of year but she just learned her family has gotten a little bit fuller after she reads her father’s letter informing her of his sudden marriage and her new stepbrothers. However, she’s not going to let that throw her off, even after she learns that her latest advertising clients are her stepbrothers and they are in town to find out more about her. Therefore, she finds a way to retaliate Christmas-style. Only it all seems to backfire on her once she realizes they are dragon-shifters and she is actually their mate. Will she be able to handle all the upcoming life changes coming her way or will it all be too much?

I have read most of Ms. Blacio’s Stepbrothers Series and I have to say this one surprised me with its setup. Loaded with the Christmas-y spirit..."

It's a Christmas novella...I was a bit surprised from the title. I've been reading a few books with a stepbrother theme, so I thought shifters would add an interesting twist. I did get this book from Netgalley and Publisher for an honest review.

Holly Brewner's Dad has just wrecked her Christmas plans. He is coming with a new wife and her sons in tow. Her new stepbrother's discover Holly is their fated mate, and she discovers they are dragons. Darius and Malcolm Longfellow are handsome and doms. Dangerous gangs, rival dragons, and a stalker ex-girlfriend add to the chaotic story. Short read with so much going on, I had to stop more than once to go back a paragraph to read it again. I did not connect to any of the characters, but really did not care for Holly from the start. It was ok, but might have worked as a longer book.

I can't help but love dragons! They so rock and Trinity just adds her own flair, its a great add to her awesome series about stepbrothers. Loved it!

Holly just as sassy as she wants to be, when she meets her new stepbrothers she doesn't run she just goes with the flow. It flows alright my heart went out to Holly with her lions share of bad luck and how she handled it and herself. You go girl!

The males Malcom and Darius dragon shifters sexy and dominating. We can expect them not to be, its in their nature. Love, protect and sex up until you cant walks.. where do I sign up for my own dragon? smiles.

A quick read but loved it! as Holly said her own personal heaters!! Enjoy

Her Stepbrothers are Dragons is a quick read by Author Trinity Blacio. There were many editing errors throughout the book, besides how was rushed. I couldn't connect with the characters, which for me is one of the more important things.

The storyline was promising, and I could have loved it if it had been longer and more detail.
This was mostly a short Christmas Story. So, I hope there is more to the story and we get a sequel with much more of this characters.

Holly is a very strong and independent woman.man the way that her lovers, mates, STEPBROTHERS dominates her is just captivating! This has got to be my favorite short read so far! 5 stars the whole way !!

Her Stepbrothers are Dragons is adventurous and quick read by Author Trinity Blacio. Told in third person point of view, it follows Holly, Malcolm, and Darius as they discover each other and their futures. I enjoyed Holly's initial experiment with the Twelve Days of Christmas, how protective her dragon men were with her, and the unique taboo nature of their relationship. However, there were many editing errors throughout, and abrupt changes in the story without smooth transitions.

What I liked about this was the almost instant acceptance by the heroine of the existence of dragon shifters. We didn't get pages of I can't believe etc. They shifted, and did a couple of other things, she saw it, and got on board with it. I guess if she was aware that her father had Fae blood, its not too far a stretch to believe in dragons.
It really moved the story along and was a bit refreshing in a saturated genre.

This book was not for me. I need a strong female character that knows her mind or at least grow into her own. I want her to not be bulldozed into others thinking. The "heroes" are arrogant, misogynistic, a-holes that "know" what is best for their mate. They just freaking met her. How do you know another's mind, feelings, moral compass to know what is best for her life? I can't with this book. It's not believable that anyone would let another take over their life like that. It wasn't romance. and there wasn't enough sex in it to be erotica so, just say no.

I have enjoyed all the of the stepbrother books by Trinity Blacio! She has a way of crafting interesting storylines and original plot lines. You are drawn in from the start and you are helpless to set it down until the very end! This story is interesting because it centers around a holiday theme-but not in the true sense that most people are accustomed to. Holly celebrates the 12 Days of Christmas. This year it is extra special because her dad's new wife is visiting with her sons. When she finds out they have been investigating her, the game is on! The 12 Days of Christmas revenge style!!

Trinity never lets us down! Have fun with this book!

Holly Brewner is preparing for the Holidays, while trying to complete an ad campaign for her company's new clients. She is to meet her new stepmother for the first time when her father tells Holly her new stepbrothers are coming to town early and asks Holly to show them around. Then Holl discovers her new stepbrothers are none other than the new clients she has building the campaign for and they have been checking her and her father out. She decides to get even by giving them a new take on the old classic "The Twelve Days of Christmas. Darius and Malcolm come calling to pay Holly back for the "gifts".

Things explode after they arrive. The tell Holly she is their mate right before a local gang lay siege to her home and set it on fire. The brothers take her to safety and are followed by an old enemy. Danger, suspense and romance abound in this novella. I loved the humor Ms. Blacio peppered the story with. I cannot wait to read some of her other stories. I do warn you that the sensual scenes are scorching hot they all but burn off the pages.

Molly is looking forward to spending Christmas with her dad. Then she learns that her dad is married now and that she has two stepbrothers and a stepmother. Now they are all coming to her house for the holiday since she can't get off of work. A big client came in and wanted her to work on their campaign. But Holly doesn't put two and two together until later on that night. Now that she knows that her stepbrothers are the clients and that they are checking up on her. Holly is furious. So now that they are family she has to play catch up with them for their 12 days of Christmas gifts. So she sends gifts to their hotel. Little did she know that she took her gifts to the next level until they showed up on her doorstep.

Darius and Malcolm are curious about the family that his mom just married into. So they arrive in Florida early to investigate their new stepsister. The didn't except her to find out what they were doing but she did. Now they are paying the price for what they did. And the price ends up with them going to her house to spend the remainder of their time with her. Plus they going to claim her.

But things don't go according to plans for the brothers when the go to semi-claim her. First , a gang is trying to attack her. Then the same gang blows her house up an not she's lost everything. Plus now they hide out in a cave to lure the threat to all of them out into the open. Will the threat take the bait? Or will they alwayz have to look their shoulders?

I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. I have a couple of more books by this author that I can't wait to read. Trinity will be added to one of favorite authors. I recommend this book to others.
