Nice set of shifter HEAs.
I really liked these books about wolf shifters from one very strong pack. The cubs of the Alpha find their mates and through trials and perseverance form a lasting HEA with them. Excellent characters and story.

Decent
It definitely got better with each book. Each book had more details, more plot, more story. However something just didn't click for me. Not bad but just not for me. I won't be continuing the series.

A HOOOOOWLING GREAT SET!! 5 GOLD PAWS UP
I have read all of these individually, but was so excited to see the box set come out! It’s a great deal and you get the beautiful bonus story too! Here are the reviews I had for each story. I just realized that I haven’t yet read Wild Wolf #4, so I will update my review as soon as I can.
Guardian Wolf #1 - He's perfect. He's the one. 5 GOLD ALPHA STARS
WHOOOWEEEEE!! All this fire, humor and a WOLFTASTIC story too?!!? Forget about a cold shower, I think I need to bathe under Niagara Falls...in the wintertime!!! The heat in this book is off the charts, but it is the best kind of heat! Heat that has Wolfy instincts behind it. "eyes lit with wolf fire, wolf passion." Heat with a story to back it and make it that much more powerful! I was so instantly drawn into this story, wanting to know the reasons why things are the way they are, why Lily has been denying her wolf - her very self - for so long. But I also wanted to know who the smokin' hot cowboy was! Since I live vicariously through my book friends, their life becoming mine, me bringing THEM to life for the length of the book, I oh so hoped that Lily was going to save a horse tonight! Hell for the rest of my life! I mean, her, for the rest of HER life! But more impressively is how well developed the story itself is. It is enriched and given depth by having a past that Lily hasn't yet dealt with, nor accepted; there are multiple packs, a Pack Council, rules, laws, Pack life & way of life. J.K. has included all of my favorite shifter features in here too! The wolf has her/his own personality, the increased senses in human form, how closely the halves truly are, just to name a few, but the features that I loved the most are the exact same ones I can't share with you! You will have to read this story to discover them all for yourself. Speaking of which, I LOVE how J.K. took the wolf shifter persona and made it all her own!! J.K. made falling into this world so easy with her mightily impressive magical writing skills! I was actually surprised at the intensity and range of emotions that I felt with this story! So very many funny lines, quotable lines and just all around FURRIFIC story! Leaving was the hardest part! (Thankfully I have the next book all ready to read.) Typically I want full length novels, however I am not sure if I could have survived more to Lily & Kieran's story! It is THAT WOLFTACULAR!!!! This may be my first J.K. Harper book, and it may always be my favorite (you never forget your first, right?) but I promise you it will NOT be the last!
Alpha Wolf #2 - When would she realize who he was to her? 5 GOLD ALPHA STARS
he knew it. Her wolf knew it, too. Her human remained the stubborn one, though. Just like a human. Silly. HOLY HEAVENLY WOLVES!!! I am completely blown away with this one! Sara is one FURRIFIC she-wolf hellbent on proving herself. Rafe is a WOLFSOME Alpha-in-waiting determined to get his mate. The story that ensues is a howling funny, uber hot, emotional & WOLFTASTIC one you do not want to miss! I love how each book (so far) has its own storyline yet there is also a secondary one that takes place over multiple books. (I am guessing it continues throughout the series based on the book blurbs.) There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that J.K. Harper is one exceptionally, magnificently and truly gifted author! The depth to this story & to the characters, the attention to details and the fascinating & enchanting way in which she told the story had me so enthralled that I couldn't have stopped reading if I tried! Well, not that I wanted to, but that's beside the point. I ABSO-FURRY-LUTELY LOVE how she has taken these wolf shifters and made them all her own, made them into these wondrous & magnificent creatures that have their own personality separate from the human side, yet at the same time they are one & the same! I love when in wolf mode, how the human side is there too, almost like the little voice in its head. "Sara the flirt and Sara the anxious were clearly at odds with themselves. Her wolf cocked a confused ear at the thought of more than one Sara roaming around." J. K. has me so consumed with her unique & PAWESOME wolves, with these FANGTASTIC characters and thoroughly entertaining storylines! I am so addicted that I cannot wait to read more FURTASTIC stories of this PAWMAZING and intriguing pack called the Black Mesa Wolves!

Small, like a little snack. Maybe she's tasty, too. "Finally kissed you. What kind of an idiot have I been?” “The kind I wanted, it seems." WHAT A SHIFTACULAR STORY!! It had me howling, growling, panting, laughing, crying and oh so much more! I was waiting for Rielle's story ever since I met her and WOW! What a story it is!! Rielle & Caleb are too FANGTASTICALLY different but loveable characters. They weren't kidding when they said "opposites attract"!! Not only does it make for an oh-so-furry-hot romance, but for a freaking hilarious one as well! I was beyond surprised at how much they influenced each other without consciously (or at least to the human side!) realizing it. I personally think that having the story told from both Rielle's & Caleb's point of views was pure genius! But my favorite parts were when one 'scene' was played out by both povs, especially when Caleb did or said something totally Neanderthal-like. It truly gave a mostly hilarious look at it, first told from Rielle's pov, then switched & back-tracked a bit to then tell it from Caleb's! I lost count at how many times I wanted to smack him upside the head for his comments, but then when I found out why he said it - or didn't - I just wanted to hug him! After peeing myself laughing of course! I so furry, furry much love how the wolf and human sides communicate, behave, influence & entice the other half! I ABSO-FURRY-LUTELY love when the wolf gets his or her own personality! It completely enriches the story by adding a whole extra layer & point of view, which in turn captivates me even more! J.K. does this part so beautifully, so magically and so PAWFECTLY that I actually have a hard time remembering that this is a story and not real! Or is it 'just' a story?!? With J.K.'s FURNOMENAL writing skills and her ability to submerge you so deep into the story which in turn has you living the story with and as the characters, well that makes it so hard to tell where fiction leaves off and real life starts!! To me, this IS real life! I was so enthralled & mesmerised by this story that I read from beginning to end without stopping. I am so in awe of J.K.'s genuine gift and ability to almost instantly pull me so utterly deep into her stories that I am seeing, hearing, smelling & experiencing everything with, for and AS the characters. Being able to picture everything going on, the scenery, views, other characters, etc. further enriches the whole experience. Take all of these into account plus the ones I didn't mention, and you are transported from 'merely' reading a book to having a WOLFTASTIC adventure that you never want to end! Softening the blow of a furrific adventure having ended too soon, is the fact that this book is part of a SHIFTASTIC series where each book follows two people becoming a couple and getting their HEA, but also getting an over arcing storyline that runs over, under, with & through each book. An over arcing storyline that involves lives being threatened, as well as Pack life, laws & ways being challenged, well, that is a storyline that should get the attention it deserves…and it does!! J.K. has me wholly & completely swept away mind, body, soul & heart with her stories and this one is no different! I love every single part of it! That to me is the mark of a phenomenal author and one that has worked her way into my heart and will forever be one of my heroes whose books will entertain & sweep me away over & over again for many years to come!!
Solstice Wolf (bonus story!) - Happy winter solstice. 5 GOLD SNOWFLAKES
What a FURLICIOUSLY sweet & spicy tail!! It was one of those ones that make you nervous about how it will end, but WOW! it just made it that much more captivating!! I was immediately engrossed and lived this story right until the very end…without taking a break even to get a drink of water! I was constantly yelling, urging or berating both Lia & Connor in my head, and even caught myself saying it out loud a couple of times! Thank goodness I was at home alone at the time, although my dog was looking at me funny. LOL This one is slightly different than the other Black Mesa Wolves stories in that they already are a mated couple, but that didn't affect my love for it in any way. In fact, I ABSO-FURRY-LUTELY loved that part of it!! It’s not often you get to read a story of any length where they have already mated or married, so for me, that alone scored this baby a gold star! Yes, this is a bit shorter that most of the books we are used to in this series, but it sure didn't lack for story content or for an emotional connection to the characters or the story itself, or anything else for that matter!! In fact, J.K. gave this story the perfect amount of depth & enrichment making it feel like you just experienced a longer story. And the fact that I DID experience it, not just read it, speaks volumes! Which is all GRRRREAT to me!! Simply WOLFTASTIC!

This is a great group of books that cover the oldest Adult Children of the Alpha in the Black Mesa wolves pack. It gives you an overview of the inner workings of the pack, the area where the pack lives and the dynamics of the wolf packs. The writing is beautiful and I'm looking forward to reading about the rest of the pack and the coming war with the warped northern pack. Each book gives you a bit more details about the ongoing concerns with the other pack as well as setting the stage for romances and new packs. You'll hate to put it down!
Book 1 is a novella and introduces us to Lily first born and guardian, and her mate Kieran. Lily had a sworn off men, after a tragic occurrence and was feeling the consequences. When out with friends she happens upon a rogue shifter and her soon to be mate and then things start to get interesting. This one is really short but it's a great introduction and you'll be wanting more.
Book 2 is Rafe and Sara, both guardians of the Black Mesa Pack. Rafe is self confident and ready to start his own pack, Sara is trying to convince herself and others of her position in the pack and her abilities as a guardian. Sparks fly between these two determined alphas.
Book 3 is Caleb and Rielle, One a guardian and the other this historian of the pack. Caleb is loud, quick to fight but a bit overwhelmed when he runs into Rielle outside her shop one night. Rielle loves being a wolf but doesn't enjoy the more dangerous sides of the pack culture, She's happy selling beautiful clothing in her downtown boutique. Book 1 is a novella and introduces us to Lily first born and guardian, and her mate Kieran. Lily had a sworn off men, after a tragic occurrence and was feeling the consequences. When out with friends she happens upon a rogue shifter and her soon to be mate and then things start to get interesting. This one is really short but it's a great introduction and you'll be wanting more.
Book 2 is Rafe and Sara, both guardians of the Black Mesa Pack. Rafe is self confident and ready to start his own pack, Sara is trying to convince herself and others of her position in the pack and her abilities as a guardian. Sparks fly between these two determined alphas.
Book 3 is Caleb and Rielle, One a guardian and the other this historian of the pack. Caleb is loud, quick to fight but a bit overwhelmed when he runs into Rielle outside her shop one night. Rielle loves being a wolf but doesn't enjoy the more dangerous sides of the pack culture, She's happy selling beautiful clothing in her downtown boutique. The first four books in the Black Mesa Wolves in one boxed set- nothing to complain.
The books sort of build up on the previous ones, i.e. there is a story thread, so to say, going through all four books. However, each of the books can be read as standalone quite well, as whatever explanation might be needed about what happened before is woven very well into the the current story.
In these books, the four Bardou siblings, children of the Black Mesa Pack's Alpha, find their mates, of course not without first having to overcome obstacles - among these obstacles some quite mad rogue wolves making their lives difficult.
The protagonists are well described, very sympathetic mostly, some more likeable than others depending on their character traits, though I liked them all. A good narration style weaves the stories together and will draw the reader into the stories. What I did not like was their view of, and actions with, humans - sorry but a tad too racist for my taste (good for sex but nothing else?).
Apart from that, however, quite enjoyable books which will entertain a reader for several hours.
And yes, the next ones in this series are on my wishlist already.

Good world building, delightful characters but endings left me feeling the story is not done yet!
I was very excited as I began to read book one in Black Mesa Wolves by J.K Harper. The characters are very well - developed. The world is a word picture that is painted so vividly with such detail, you can see the desert, smell the scents floating in the air and feel the heat during the day and the brisk air once the sun goes down. The plot development is also superb.
The problem is that I am invested heart and soul in the story wondering how the conflict is going to be resolved when suddenly the story just stops! THE END! With all these "things" left unresolved. Not a problem as the next book is included and it will pick up where the previous book left off, correct? NOPE! The next book picks up with an introduction of two new characters and their mating dance,leaving me wandering what is happening with the two characters from the previous book.
I just could not go on to book 5 in the series and endure more of the same. It is a shame because I love the characters and setting. I just Can't go on hanging by fingernails on an edge of this cliff!

I loved these books when I read them as part of the Black Mesa Wolves Box Set. Black Mesa Wolves Box Set by J. K. Harper is a set of nine different books of the series all put together into the perfect reading order in one group. The nine books included in this set are: Guardian Wolf, Alpha Wolf, Hunting Wolf, Wild Wolf, Solstice Wolf, Christmas Wolf, New Year Wolf, Protector Wolf, and Fire Wolf. Every one of the books in this set was a wonderful read. Each individual book features a different couple who were forever mate and all of the stories are tied together as members of the Black Mesa Wolf Pack. I think anyone who loves reading about shifters or paranormal romance will love this box set where everyone eventually gets their happy ever after ending.

I was really hoping to enjoy these books. It has shifters and romance and adventure...but it was really hard to enjoy them. The romance stuff was more like reading erotica - so very descriptive and detailed. Most of the time, I would love descriptive detail in reading but this was too much. I did however, enjoy that all the books flash backed and recapped a little of what happened previously in the other books. It all tied in together so very nicely that way. I'm debating on wanting to read the next set of books in the series. I was hoping for more shifter interactions than being about the mating part of the shifter world.

OH MY GOSH this whole set was phenomenal! It allows you to become part of these stories and just immerse yourself in this world! Every character in this set will have you on the edge of your seat rooting for them! This will have you hook line and sinker and you won't know what hit you except that you want anyone of these wolves, To be a part of this pack! ABSOLUTELY an AMAZING box set!

Excellent set of paranormal (wolf shifter) romantic suspense stories. These books are each good on their own but I highly recommend they be read in order. The characters were strong alpha males and females. Each book was unique to expectations of their positions in the pack and that of future packs. There are actually Nine (9) stories in this set. I received a complementary copy of this set via Booksprout and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by this author.

The Bardou siblings are so different and yet they are so solid together as a family. I can see how the Bardoux have remained the alphas of the Black Mesa Pack for so long. This series is no different that other shifter family dramas (a written soap opera) but Ms. Harper really makes her characters people that I find in my neighbourhood and talk to. That is what makes these stories engrossing and addicting for me.

No editing errors were noted until volume 4, which held several.
I highly recommend these erotic stories to those readers over age 18. Stories of love, sacrifice, contentment and happiness.

Must read for anyone who seriously loves shifters! The boxed set includes 4 stand-alone books each with an underlying story of the Black Mesa Wolf pack. The story lines were fast-paced and full of adventure, danger and romance. The characters are endearing and well developed. Can't wait to continue with the series and see where the story goes!

Loved this box set
Brilliant box set loved the characters in each story how each of the Aphas four children find their mates but each has a story to tell what they have had to do to convince their mates they are the other half of their souls whilst the pack is being attached by rogue wolves.

Entertaining
An enjoyable set that improved with each book. The first two were primarily physicality with little storyline. The third had more story depth and the fourth even more, although with more storyline came more editing errors and missing words. That detracted from the reading pleasure and this three stars.

Yummy alpha males & the females who tame them
I loved these books!! The Black Mesa wolves are amazing. The four books follow each other so well it is like one gloriously long book. I was very pleased to see the series continues & I will be grabbing them next!! Ms. Harper writes a smoldering, sexy story that makes you wish for a shifter of your own.

I chose to read and review these books. I enjoy shifters and this one was awesome. I liked how each wolf meets his mate and fights. The sparks were everywhere between each couple. I liked the suspense and action. It is sweet to see how some may remind us of people we know in person. Her characters seem real. I loved it and recommend reading it

Writing was ok. A couple of errors here and there but really not bad. I liked the characters and the background where it took place. The story lines of all four stories was enjoyable. The story had some fluff which is what I call extra words to make a book longer. Sometimes longer os not better.

Steamy but not sleezy
Who doesn't love a great shifter story? The first four books of the Black Mesa Wolves are just that.
Plenty of romance, action, and humour, with sweet love stories entwined.
I can't wait to read the next book.

Great set of wolf shifters. This set has everything with the Black Mesa Wolves, friendships, family, love and danger.Well written with strong men and women. J.K. Harper writes a wonderful series. Definitely a good valve and worth your reading time.

Romance and fur...
Lots of angst, lots of romance, sex, and fur...shifter love stories with a background of pack politics and intrigue. Entertaining but l got bored by reading one after the other...I should have read something between these to make the next a fresher tale.
