***** PREVIOUS EDITION ***** Please note - you are currently on the page for the first edition listing from 2015. The second edition version, released on Tuesday 14 March 2017, is listed as a separate title on a different page. This book provides an easy insight into the essentials of cybersecurity, even if you have a non-technical background. You may be a business person keen to understand this important subject area or an information security specialist looking to update your knowledge. 'The world has changed more in the past 10 years than in any 10 year period in human history. . . Technology is no longer a peripheral servant, it shapes our daily lives. Companies that can use technology wisely and well are booming, companies that make bad or no technology choices collapse and disappear. The cloud, smart devices and the ability to connect almost any object to the internet are an essential landscape to use but are also fraught with new risks and dangers of a magnitude never seen before.' Also featuring an alphabetical section at the back of the book to help you translate many of the main cybersecurity technical terms into plain, non-technical English. This book is designed to take you through the discipline of cybersecurity. For practical steps on cybersecurity for personal devices, please refer to my other title ' Home and Small Business'
Raef Meeuwisse holds multiple certifications for information security and authored the security control framework for a Fortune 20 company. He also created AdaptiveGRC, the world’s first single data source / zero replication governance, risk management and compliance suite. He is an interim CISO for hire and an entertaining international speaker.
A great resource for anybody interested in cybersecurity. Raef Meeuwisse gives the reader a nice, gentle look at the world of cybersecurity, and how it affects our daily lives. The book has given me a nice primer on this important topic.
I am currently enrolled on a BSc (Honours) degree in Cybersecurity and now that I have read this book, I feel ready for the start of my long journey, to become qualified in the world of cybersecurity.
P.s Raef Meeuwisse has also written many other good books on cybersecurity that are also worth looking at.
Although there was good information in this book, it seemed more useful for someone that wants to be more familiar with speaking the language rather than taking a more active approach in their own cyber security. The case studies were interesting and the chapter on the future trends in technology was enjoyable. Unfortunately not enough tangible information to put some of the concepts to use. The ereader version didn’t seem to format properly for the definitions within chapters, but the glossary at the end resolved that issue.
Definitely not a book for beginners, but a good overall view of cybersecurity for the partially technical business user.
The author includes some interesting case studies. He also has a glossary and does well in defining technical terms. The book talks a lot about risk management and how businesses can use it to minimize cybersecurity risks. If that's what you're looking for, then you'll find it here. Otherwise, this book probably isn't for you.
This is a good book for someone at least partially technical who wants to know more about cybersecurity from a business perspective.
With this massive development in the technology and IT, people needed to know more about the cybersecurity and the risks. This books covers most of the information a novice person should know. Besides, it has a section at the back which is a guide that allows reader to check the technical terms. The way that the author explains the subject is quite efficient. Stories and the case studies through the book makes it really interesting and enjoyable. In my opinion, and this is for the beginners like me, this book is a must read if you want to involved in cybersecurity world.
An interesting book to get a general overview of cybersecurity. This book doesn't delve into the details and much less into the technical side but provides a good general overview of how cybersecurity works.
“Ja je moet dit boek lezen voor het vak, meer voor achtergrond kennis enzo, komt niet echt op het tentamen maar je moet het eigenlijk wel weten” Oké geef me twee dagen.
