Me gustó más que el primero, definitivamente la historia de amor aquí fue más romántica sin dejar de lado la aventura y acción implícita en gran cantidad de libros paranormales.
Los personajes estuvieron muy bien trazados y quede con mucha curiosidad por conocer la historia de todos los demás.
Un libro entretenido, para pasar el rato sin sobresaltos pero sin encantamientos tampoco.
Bueno pero pasable... nada espectacular y olvidable!

I couldn’t get enough of these Vikings from book 1, so I was eagerly awaiting Astrid’s book. Can’t go wrong with an ass-kicking Valkyrie warrior belonging to the Goddess Freya. Her sarcasm and wit kept me entertained and grinning the whole time. I absolutely loved her. Viking Warrior Rebel by Asa Maria Bradley is the perfect mix of the paranormal and sexy. Astrid is a rebel warrior. She has to be, it says so in the title! But what is she rebelling against? If you read the first book you know all about the själsfrände bond. The Viking equivalent of soulmates. The only rub is that if these immortal Vikings do not find their soulmates they are forever in battle fever and are forced back into Valhalla for an internal sleep. We don’t want that happening to Astrid, but her stubborn nature refuses to accept her soulmate when she finds him. As usual with any conflict in a romance, trust is an issue.
Luke Holden, I presume?
Yes, he is the reason for all that mentioned above. An equally stubborn, secretive, SEXY alpha man. He knows he has an attraction to Astrid, an unusual one. Just like Naya before him, he was also genetically modified in a lab. So his hangups revolve around that. It seems to me, that the superhuman are the only ones that can mate with the Vikings. We’ll see how that progresses in the rest of the series.
Creepy wolverines...
Yuck. They sound gross looking and are evil to boot! Also genetically modified they still are part of the evil that the Vikings must clean up. The plot is carried over from the previous book and Loki (half God) is still believed to be responsible. We, the reader, will not find out in this book. So, I do recommend reading book 1 first. It’s a progressing storyline.
Overall, stellar book for the series. Of course my eagerness for the next in the series has come back, because I really want to know what happens. Not really a cliffhanger, since Luke and Astrid’s story sums up, but the threat is still there and unresolved.

In a forest in Washington State lies a fortress where immortal Vikings hide. They must stop half-god Loki from annihilating the human realm. As Loki is not permitted to roam the earth – Midgard – he has henchmen do his dirty deed, wolverines. The immortals’ new queen, Naya, asked her friend Astrid Idrisdotter to find her brother Scott for her impending wedding. Astrid is determined to go at it alone to redeem herself for her previous mission, which went quite badly. Alas, luck is not on Astrid’s side when she runs into a few problems: new, improved wolverines, Scott who has vanished, and Luke Holden, with whom she had had a one-night-stand…
If only to give you an idea how good VIKING WARRIOR REBEL is, I am not a fan of mythology per se, and I loved this book! Ms. Bradley knows her subject, but better still she is able to smoothly weave mythology, paranormal, suspense and romance seamlessly, thus creating a fresh new world. I ran into some difficulties at the beginning of the story for a somewhat peculiar reason: while they are masterfully written, there were too many action scenes, mostly fighting and sparring scenes, to my taste. However, around halfway through the book, things really take off. I hope Ms. Bradley won’t mind, but almost from the onset I pictured Jason Statham as Luke: Luke is a tough, no-nonsense alpha male, an undercover special agent, but he has a tender side and he is very sweet. He has a terrific backstory, and I would have wished to know even more. Astrid is just a fabulous heroine, and she will forever remain my perception of a Valkyrie.
The romance in VIKING WARRIOR REBEL is simply glorious! The lust that Luke and Astrid experience is palpable, but they work well together, they respect each other’s talents, they are equally strong and wilful, and in spite of major bumps on the road, they trust each other, they have each other’s back. The banter is terrific all around, the characters are all well defined, but what I liked the most is the distinctive spins Ms. Bradley put on a few commonplace paranormal elements. Life mates – själsfrände – are not exactly what we’re used to see, and both Luke and Astrid are somewhat baffled by what it entails. Berserkers, a sort of collective conscience shared by the immortal Viking warriors goes deeper than what we usually see in shifters: it’s more existential than a mere communication device, if you will; it’s the essence of the Viking warriors’ soul and I loved how that it’s much more fluid and that it is not static. And it helps a lot to see real Swedish, and not some made-up Scandinavian drivel. I wonder if there will be some Finnish mythology in the future as well…
I have no idea what Ms. Bradley has in store for us in the third instalment (there will be a third book, won’t it?), but I will be waiting because the possibilities are endless! VIKING WARRIOR REBEL is an innovative, exciting paranormal romance that goes beyond the usual fare; a terrific book!

Better than book 1 and still hits all the expected notes of ridiculousness with an urban Viking twist. Fast, fun, and inventive.

Action packed and full of surprises, the story starts off fast and keeps going until the end. Lots of Mystery and intriqure to keep readers pushing until the end of the book. There is balance of sexual tension to go with satisfying hot moments. The story will bring back secondary characters we met in the first book make another appearance. Keeping the readers connected.
However like most PNR they bring in every single type of paranormal characters and there is only so much my brain can deal with. A reason I have never like PNR.
Overall not a bad book just not what I was hoping for.

I've been wanting a good Viking romance, and this surprising paranormal really fit the bill. I barely put it down since I started reading. Obviously, I was captivated. This one is actually probably more like 4 1/2 stars for me, but I didn't connect with the characters as much as I prefer. The plot and world-building, however, were outstanding. Thoroughly enjoyed!

Hmmm un deuxième tome un peu comme le premier où je suis partagée ...
Les points positifs :
- l'univers inspiré de la mythologie nordique mais avec un côté très moderne avec les manipulations génétiques et tout
- les personnages qui sont plutôt attachants (même si un peu superficiels ...)
Les points négatifs :
- encore une fois, l'univers est sous-exploité ... J'adore l'histoire du tatouage qui évolue lui-même mais j'aurais voulu davantage de détails sur les dieux, leurs plans, les bersekers etc etc.
- les personnages qui sont un petit peu trop clichés parfois et qui méritaient un passé plus développé (l'histoire d'Astrid notamment et son statut d'esclave aurait pu être beaucoup plus exploité !)
- la romance qui est trop rapide et trop facile : tout est accepté / oublié trop facilement (notamment les mensonges de "Holden")
Bref, je ne sais pas si je lirais un autre livre (ça dépend si on voit Loki et s'il est sexy xD)

- romance that is too fast and easy: everything is accepted / forgotten too easily (including the lies of "Holden")
In short, I don't know if I would read another book (it depends if we see Loki and if he is sexy xD)

Viking Warrior Rebel is a blend of Vikings and and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, only without any vamps. Wow! I was drawn right into the story from the first page and read in just a few sittings. SOOO good! Bradley immerses you with vibrant characters, kick-butt action scenes and a swoon-worthy romance. I need to read the whole series, like right now! Highly recommend!

After a let down of Viking Warrior Rising, this second installment rallied and left a much better impression on me. Then again I just finished a confoundingly messed-up PNR book (different series and author) I guess that helped to tone down my expectation in a big way. Reading is a very personal experience and all...
Viking Warrior Rebel was the story about Astrid Irisdotter, the hot head Valkyrie on Leif's band of warriors. On a mission to bring Naya's brother back, she was attacked by one of Loki's feral minions and was saved by Luke Holden, an undercover FBI agent who had been investigating the covert bio lab and - unbeknownst to her - Naya and Astrid's connection to it.
While I felt Luke's juggling his professional and personal motives while dealing with Astrid, his FBI agent persona was barely there. Same could be said for his fellow agents here; they seemed too laid-back. Considering the urgency of solving the case went hand in hand with personal vengeance, I felt the drive to do so was not that strong.
However, on the personal level, the sexual tension between Astrid and Luke was pretty intense. Not that they acted on it all the darn time - which I really applauded of, thank gads! (I hate characters who let their lower members do the thinking.) And their romance also had less drama than I expected, considering the secrets both kept from each other and objections from Astrid's closest thing to a family. But I was really entertained on their interactions alone, so I was able to - sort of - disregard a few things.
Such as Luke's acceptance to what's supposed to be a jaw-dropping truth was way too easy though. And then there's the matter of the emergence a new berserker. yet all of the sudden everybody was peachy. No, it's not that I resent Astrid and Luke their happy beginning. I only wish certain details to be explored more, greedy reader that I am.
But compared to previous book, it's no question that I liked this one more. The hero and heroine's presence were more equal in every way; more so that both raised up from unfortunate background.
I look forward to the next tales in this series and hope them to be similarly enjoyable - if not more - than this one.

***3.5 ‘What a tangled web we weave’ Stars***
I thoroughly enjoyed Viking Warrior Rising and couldn’t wait to get my hands on the next book and when I found out that it would be about Astrid I knew I had to read it and though it started out a bit slow for me I ended up thoroughly enjoying it and catching up with the rest of the Vikings and Valkyrie.
Astrid was my favorite character from the first book. She was fun, sassy and she could hold her own with rest of the guys and wanted to know more about what made her tick. After finding out about her life and how she worked hard to earn her status as a shield maiden I couldn’t help but admire her even more, but as much as I admired her, she also ended up frustrating me in equal amounts. She has this need to prove herself, which is understandable considering the state of her Berserker and how it affects her, but there were somethings that she took upon herself that she really didn’t need to. Thankfully, she got her shit together and proved why she was chosen by Freya to be a Valkyrie.
Luke has a lot of secrets, not only that he is an undercover FBI agent, but ones that are driving him to make the choices that may or may not backfire on him at some point. His loyalty to his personal cause is heartbreaking and it’s hard to not empathize with him. I liked Luke. He was sweet, dedication and all kinds of sexy alpha male and definitely held his own when faced with an overabundance of crazy.
With all the secrets between the two of them, it was a given that their road would be a bumpy one. I found Luke’s reaction to Astrid’s confession about who she was interesting and her’s pretty spot on when Luke revealed his. The sexual tension between them was explosive, but even though it was frustrating, I liked that they didn’t always act on their urges. I loved how the Vikings and Valkyrie added their two cents into their growing relationship, both helpful and not. And when they finally got their HEA, it was perfectly done.
The start of this one was slow moving for me, it was probably just one of those days, but I kept wanting things to go a little faster, not only with Luke and Astrid’s storyline, but the overall one with Loki and his scary wolverine creatures. It did pick up and by the end I couldn’t put it down because I needed to know how it all would work out. I loved catching up with Leif and Naya. Ulf had me wanting to stab him a few times due to his overabundance of testosterone and Irja peaked my interest. I think I may know what is going on with her, but I’ll be patient and see if my hunch is right. I enjoyed getting to hang out with the rest of the Vikings and am looking forward to seeing what’s coming next for them.

She has this need to prove herself, which is understandable considering the state of her Berserker and how it affects her, but there were somethings that she took upon herself that she really didn’t need to. Thankfully, she got her shit together and proved why she was chosen by Freya to be a Valkyrie.
Luke has a lot of secrets, not only that he is an undercover FBI agent, but ones that are driving him to make the choices that may or may not backfire on him at some point. His loyalty to his personal cause is heartbreaking and it’s hard to not empathize with him. I liked Luke. He was sweet, dedication and all kinds of sexy alpha male and definitely held his own when faced with an overabundance of crazy.
With all the secrets between the two of them, it was a given that their road would be a bumpy one. I found Luke’s reaction to Astrid’s confession about who she was interesting and her’s pretty spot on when Luke revealed his. The sexual tension between them was explosive, but even though it was frustrating, I liked that they didn’t always act on their urges. I loved how the Vikings and Valkyrie added their two cents into their growing relationship, both helpful and not. And when they finally got their HEA, it was perfectly done.
The start of this one was slow moving for me, it was probably just one of those days, but I kept wanting things to go a little faster, not only with Luke and Astrid’s storyline, but the overall one with Loki and his scary wolverine creatures. It did pick up and by the end I couldn’t put it down because I needed to know how it all would work out. I loved catching up with Leif and Naya. Ulf had me wanting to stab him a few times due to his overabundance of testosterone and Irja peaked my interest. I think I may know what is going on with her, but I’ll be patient and see if my hunch is right. I enjoyed getting to hang out with the rest of the Vikings and am looking forward to seeing what’s coming next for them.

Although the back blurb says Vikings are the new Vampires, I’m not sure that’s true. I’ve seen quite a few viking books in the last year, but whereas vampires are easy to incorporate into stories (you can make up your mythology as you go if you need to), vikings are more confined by their link to specific geographical locations and religious backgrounds.
The mythology really didn’t work for me. The vikings and valkyries are fighting injustice and evil probably sent by Loki. That part isn’t super clear, and instead of getting direct help from the gods, the warriors are forced to search the “darknet” for rumors of nefarious new developements, like this was a 1998 hacker direct to tv movie. It’s 2016 - are people still using “the deep web” as a term? Do they mean anonymous boards? And how do they get high speed internet in a secret compound in the middle of the forest that is so off the beaten track that it’s not even supposed to be there?
The mythology and the plot were a bit flaky, which is unfortunate because the characters were extremely solid and interesting: Astrid and Luke are both great and I loved all the hoops their relationship had to jump through in order to get realized.
I am not usually a fan of relationships that are wholly built on lies, but there are good reasons for the things Astrid and Luke are not telling each other. They don’t even know if they are on the same team for part of the book; Luke is the owner of a shady nightclub that may or may not have ties to people who traffick sex slaves. That would make any girl think twice about telling their truth about her origin and her true age (which is up there in the hundreds).
The other warriors are worried about Astrid, whose “berserker” lies closer to the surface than the others’; she is less predictable, less of a team player than the other (mostly) men, but she is no less of a warrior. She has been training as hard and long as them, and she knows she can take them. Her semi-tragic background only adds to the character, and felt like a real origin story and not a sob story added in for pity points.
This was a difficult book to rate; I didn’t care about the overarching plot or the specific rescue that takes place, but I desperately wanted to learn more about the main characters, and even the secondary characters were appealing. I’d love to learn more about them, but I’m not sure I want to have to read about more gods arguing in the background to do it.

Well, this one took longer to listen to than the debut novel in the series. I'm not completely sure why. It was a good--if predictable--story with interesting characters. I liked the heroine and hero well enough. There was action. The over-all plot arc advanced. There are questions to be answered in the next installment while still having closure with this story. The narrator did a good job with the characterizations. That's all to the good. However, I just wasn't compelled to keep listening no matter what I was doing. I was able to turn it off and do other things. *shrug* Still, an enjoyable enough read. 3.5 stars

I absolutely love the series because the heroines have their own lives and are not just arm candy for the heroes who were on their own adventure/quest. The hero and heroine always bring something to the relationship. In the beginning they bring their secret pain and obstacles to overcome. In the end they bring a great partnership to the team.
The author does a great job of bringing viking lore into this paranormal series. It just puts an extra twist on the stories to bring something fresh to this genre. I love that the couple from the previous novel have roles to play in this novel. It really makes you feel like you're reading about a community of characters.

Immortal Vikings live among us. They have been sent by Odin and Freya to protect humans from the evil god Loki and his minions. These battle brothers and sisters live and fight together as they continue to seek out the evil ones sent by Loki and try to eradicate the evil ones from the planet.
Astrid Irisdotter is a Valkyrie who is on a mission for her queen. She needs to get the queen’s brother from a medical clinic outside of Denver and safely deliver him to the compound in Pine Rapids in time for the queen to marry the king. Astrid has been having issues with her berserker lately and she had to be physically stopped from harming a human. This has her in an unusual spot with the other Vikings and she feels like she’s on probation. She knows that getting the queen’s brother back safely is a way to feel redeemed. She’s determined not to mess it up.
Then she runs into Luke Holden by chance. At least she thinks it’s a chance meeting. He’s an undercover agent trying to expose genetic labs that he believes Astrid is involved in. His undercover persona is a nightclub owner who has shady dealings with ‘interesting’ people.
After everything goes sideways with Astrid’s mission, Luke finds her in a compromised position and saves her. But saving her and gaining her trust are two very opposite things. They are both hiding major secrets from each other, but Astrid’s berserker want to make Luke hers. Will these two ever trust each other enough to move forward? Or will they be in a crazy relationship limbo forever?
Both Astrid and Luke are Alphas so watching them battle for dominance is almost like a movie. Grab a bowl of popcorn and read on. Each one of them is fighting for good, but each of them thinks the other is fighting for evil. They clash at every turn, but the sexual attraction is so strong, they can’t keep away from each other.
I love, love, loved this story. Couldn’t put the book down and was so sad when I finished it. I see why Asa Maria Bradley is seen as a top up-and-coming author. She writes characters who are so real to the reader and actually had me looking for these immortal Vikings when I was out and about. I have already ordered her first book in this series and look forward to reading many more books from this new author. Keeper shelves everywhere are going to be making more room.

I liked that the author came up with a new angle on where she was going with her story since few authors I've read lately have been coming up with fresh content that doesn't sound like everything else I've already read.
Enjoyable and fun. Would recommend.

I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway. The was a fast paced exciting read. This is a follow-up to Viking Warrior Rising. And although there are references to events of the previous book and presumably that books contains the original meeting of Astrid and Luke.
Astrid is a Valkyrie. A thousand years ago, she was a thrall (a slave), she learned to defend herself, to protect herself, and became so skilled, she became a Shield Maiden and earned enough to buy her freedom. Having died honorably on the battlefield, she ascended into Valhalla and was chosen and trained by Freya to become a Valkyrie. She and several other warriors returned to Earth (Midgard) to protect humans from Loki and his evil minions. These minions are evil, not totally human that the warriors call wolverines. And they protect undercover labs which experiment on people, including their queen, Naya.
Luke Holden, grew up with his twin brother in a lab. They were experimented on, and while Luke grew stronger and faster, his brother experienced issues. They escaped when they were 14, but, his brother continued having issues and committed suicide. Luke, got his GED, joined the Marines, and now belongs to a covert FBI unit trying to discover the labs and who is funding them.
Luke and Astrid have the same enemies, but they are unaware of this and as such they circle each other trying to discover the others truths, desires and plans...can they learn to trust each other?

This was a good one. Astrid is an ancient warrior who is back with her 'family' to hunt Loki's creatures. Luke is as enamored with Astrid as she is with him but he is after more. He follows her as she goes on a mission for her queen and best friend and saves her life. Astrid feels like she is almost out of control but wants to trust Luke. He makes her feel more in control. Both are keeping secrets and those secrets may just keep them apart.
I really liked Astrid. She is a strong warrior who is loyal to her brothers and her king and queen. She would do anything for them, no matter the cost to her. I also really liked getting to know her 'family'. She is considered one of the brothers and treated just like the guys treat each other with very little exception. Luke was a pretty good guy. He is obsessed with finding the labs that held his brother and he. That is his priority over anything else and I was a bit annoyed at him for it. The 'family' and how close they are and protective of Astrid was probably my favorite part.
It was a 4/5 for me. I am going to look for more in this series because the characters just stay with you.

Astrid tiene la misión de ir a buscar al hermano de su reina a la clínica donde estaba ingresado. Es una tarea fácil y le servirá para redimirse de sus últimas meteduras de pata en batalla. Pero tanto como ella esperaba que fuese fácil todo se convierte en complicado cuando Luke Holden se aparece en su camino empeñado en ayudarla... Sólo que Luke está con ella porque la quiere o tiene segundas intenciones?
Como podéis ver me ha llevado un montón leer el libro. No sé si he sido yo que no estaba en plan lector o es que el libro no llegó a engancharme al principio y me hizo dejarlo tirado porque no me apetecía nada. En fin, fuese cual fuese la razón realmente la historia no me ha parecido gran cosa. Luke me cae mal, no mal de decir es un idiota o lo que sea, aunque un poco prepotente y chulo que se cree la cosa más guapa del mundo si que es, pero no sé simplemente su personaje no me ha acabado de gustar. Cuando Astrid descubrió todo lo que le ocultaba Luke la verdad es que me esperaba más. Teniendo tanto carácter como tiene el drama se lo quitaron de encima con una bofetada (literalmente) así que me decepcionó que se solucionase (aunque yo no lo llamo así de ninguna manera) tan fácilmente.
En fin, que siempre me quedaré con el primer libro al menos hasta que algún día continúe con los siguientes y vea si los hay mejores jajaja.

I went into this book without reading the first book and pretty clueless about what the book was about - something that I don't do very often. There were moment when it was obviously referring to something that happened in the first book but I didn't feel like I was missing out too much. However, I was very appreciative of the way the author introduced the reader back into the idea of immortal warriors walking among us and their god sent mission. Once I had orientated myself in the first few chapters I really enjoyed the plot with the viking warriors, secret government agents, romance andLoki's evil creature creations. Although parts of the plot where slightly predictable I enjoyed listening to Astrid fighting to gain the acceptance/admiration of her battle brothers after some skew-ups, seeking hidden labs and fighting her attraction to Luke all while making sure he doesn't discover the truth about her past.
This book was exactly what I was looking for this week, and it hooked me in!

Once again, this book will grab your attention and you won't want to put it down. Filled with action, suspense, and romance dive into a story with Viking warriors, secret government agents, and Loki's evil creature creations. Astrid may be a Valkyrie, but she's also a woman fighting her attraction to handsome club owner Luke. Luke isn't just a club owner, but working undercover to try to discover and stop the people behind the labs. They've both got secrets and don't trust each other, but when danger finds them, they must learn to trust each other if they have a chance of survival. Along the way, their connection deepens and they realize they are fighting for the same thing. And if they can lay their cards and hearts on the table, they just might find a HEA.

Los libros de esta saga son buenos en realidad. La trama de fondo de los lobeznos de Loki (criaturas genéticamente alteradas) y los super-humanos mezclados con valquirias y bersekers es muy fascinante pero lo que no termina de cuadrar para ser 4 estrellas es la historia romántica. Con el cuento de alma gemela ya se tiran toda la historia, no se conocen pero siente una "irresistible atracción" y a los cinco minutos se aman. Ambos protagonistas me gustaron pero Astrid destaca por su carácter fuerte, el no dejarse menospreciar por tanta "testosterona" de sus compañeros, por su pasado y la valentía para enfrentarse a las situaciones futuras.

This is Asa's second book in her trilogy which continues the tale of the immortal vikings to fight against Loki's lab creations. The characters feel real and have depth. Her strong female lead has a strong sense of who she is and even though she may not have the body image problem (who would when you are a tall, blond Swedish fighting machine), she still shows insecurities and vulnerability. And the way that she portrays both the main love interest plus the supporting roles expresses more than one dimension to their character.
This was a fun and quick read and cannot wait to see where she takes us in the third book.

Wasn't sure I was going to like this one as much as the first one. Not because I don't think Astrid is a good character or anything but the track the plot started down irked me. She blamed herself for some dumb things but since other characters called her on it, it can be forgiven. It's a small pet peeve but repetition of phrases in a small book are very glaring for me. No reason to say the same line, verbatim, twice or more IMHO. I really hope there are more. I really, really want one for Irja and Scott although even I can't think of a real reason other than they both deserve love (as lame as that sounds).

Astrid and Luke
Absolutely loved this brilliant book and would totally recommend it hoping that others enjoy it as much as I did. Astrid is a Valkyrie sent by Freya on Earth or Midgard as the Viking Warriors and Valkyrie call it to protect the Earth and humans from Loki’s minions. Luke appears to be a nightclub owner with dubious acquaintances but all is not as it seems. Absolutely loved this brilliant book and would totally recommend it hoping that others enjoy it as much as I did. Astrid is a Valkyrie sent by Freya on Earth or Midgard as the Viking Warriors and Valkyrie call it to protect the Earth and humans from Loki’s minions. Luke appears to be a nightclub owner with dubious acquaintances but all is not as it seems. This series was so much fun! It was kind of like a Nordic Black Dagger Brotherhood, but I think one of the things I liked was that the Viking Warriors had women, too. The series was full of adventure and romance.
Each book featured a different couple. I wouldn’t have guessed each character would end up with the love interest they ended up with and it was different for all of them, so I loved that aspect as well.

An interesting story with a few twists and several attacks.... It kinda felt like we should have learned more about Luke's brother although he was long dead.... There is quite a lot of not quite connecting between this pair until she finally seems to connect.... I think the characters who left were some of the interesting although the younger ones are intriguing too... I hope they make appearances in future stories.
