Finally, school’s out for summer. To avoid the lethal sun, the Nocturne family is taking a trip to Isla Necrata, the exclusive resort owned by the Half-Light Consortium, whose destinations are always located near a natural disaster, which makes for plenty of vampire fun.
But for Oliver, it’s hard to look forward to a big dose of time with his family when everything he does seems to disappoint them. Luckily, they stop to visit some Old World relatives in Morosia on the way. Though Oliver’s grandparents may be bloodthirsty and gothic, at least they still seem to like him. And the timing is Emalie is in nearby Rome searching for the oracle who may be the key to Oliver’s prophecy. But what the three friends discover in the ruins of Rome and the dark passages of Morosia will forever change their understanding of Oliver’s destiny and the dangerous lengths to which Half-Light would go to see the prophecy fulfilled.

Oliver is traveling to meet his cousins, but really, his VAMPIRE cousins.
Oliver is a sired vampore with no demon. He was stolen from his real family, and sired into another.
Meanwhile, he has extraordinary friends that are more amazing than youever thought. An Orani, and "wizard", and a Zombie. Weird eh?
Okay, to the point; Dean is going to visit Oliver's cousins. That's not really the purpose though;Oliver, Emalie and Dean need to find Selene to find the location of Emalie's mother. Oliver's brother, Bane and Oliver's parents, Phlox, and Sebastian, are trying to kill Selene, the person who they think should be killed to make a prophecy work, a prophecy where Oliver must open and close the Gate of the universes.
The trouble is where is Selene? Find out by reading this spooky adventure.
School is out for Oliver Nocturne and his friends. Dean was being homeschooled with other zombies, and Emalie is done with human school. But it's not shaping up to be a joyful, fun summer. Oliver has far too much on his mind.
He overhears his parents talking about sacrifice when a member of the Half-Light Consortium comes to their house for a visit. He can see the person hand over something to his parents. He overhears ominous words such as loyalty, loss will be hard, no other way, and prophecy. This doesn't bode well for Oliver, who has been hearing lately of his destiny to fulfill his prophecy involving the Nexia Gate.
When he learns that the family is going to be going to Morosia to visit Phlox's family (Oliver's mother's side) before their cruise to Isla Necrata, Oliver and his friends hatch a plan. Emalie and her grandmother are off to the human city near Morosia in search of her long-lost mother and to further her Orani training. The three friends plan to meet up and find the elusive Selene, the oracle known to hold the secrets of the prophecy surrounding Oliver.
Time is running short as the sacrifice he heard discussed must happen the following night. He has little time to find the answers he seeks. With the help of his friends, Oliver learns the mysteries that have been kept hidden from him.
BLOOD TIES is the third book in the OLIVER NOCTURNE series. Mr. Emerson creates a vulnerable vampire character who shows loyalty to those that stick by him, whether human, vampire, or zombie. Only through the friendship that the three share do they overcome many obstacles. By the end of the story, Oliver learns what all the subdued conversations were leading up to.
Stay tuned for book four, THE DEMON HUNTER, due out in February 2009.
This book is my favourite next to the eternal tomb. It really gave you let you see which side to pick. I enjoyed learning about the underworld and a bit more into vampire history. I'm not gonna spoil anything but the ending really made your heart pound. You also get to see Emalie and Oliver's relationship grow. Full of twists and excitement Oliver Nocturne: Blood Ties Was A thoroughly enjoyable book.
The main idea of this book is blood ties of kids who found there friend. One detail is that oliver couldn't find this little girl name emily nd that was his best friend but more like a sister. Second detail is that oliver had heard a miles away of his friend dean and they shearch to find emiley and they did at there friends house kyle. BY Mikayla Gallegos
Oliver and his family is off for vacation but Oliver is still struggling with knowing what his role is in the destiny of all vampires. Dean, Emalie, and Oliver end up battling with the usual suspect of mysterious vampires and strangers to figure out all the things Oliver will be doing when he fulfills his destiny.
I am really enjoying these books. They are fun, but I like how the kids are learning how thier decisions affect things...and that parents aren't the bad guys. The vampire thing is just an added bonus!
en este libro el protagonista se va a una ciudad ficticia ( solo existe en el libro ) que vive sus abuelos y solo estan vampiros. un lugar tenebroso y un poco chulo. me ha gustado las aventuras de los niños.
The best part was when a dust dagger stabbed Elizabeth's white scar.Which reopened her scar . Then the dust dagger escaped through a vortex or something like that.
