2 STARS!

Something must be wrong with me because it seems that everybody loved this book. But I’m always honest in my reviews so I’m going to write an honest review. Please don't take this review personally, especially if you loved this book.

So why only 2 stars?

The story. It’s not that I hated the story, it’s the execution that I didn’t like. The story is meant to be emotional and touching. I didn’t know before reading this book how the story would end and I wasn’t prepared for some of the events in this book. And yet I wasn’t shocked nor did I feel sorry for any of the characters. I had a constant feeling like something was missing. I don’t have anything against insta-love, in fact I believe in love at first sight. But I didn’t feel the connection between the hero and the heroine or their epic love.

The writing. The writing was OK though the dialogue sounded awkward and stilted at times and sometimes even ridiculous. For instance:

"I’m complicated, I come with instructions and I’ve spent way too many years now neglecting my love life."

"I doubt you come with instructions. Surely you aren’t a robot or a dvd player."

The characters. I was totally indifferent to the main characters. I couldn’t connect with them no matter how hard I tried.

I didn’t like the heroine. Though I did sympathize with her (who wouldn’t), I couldn’t connect with her. The authors are trying to portray her as a kind and selfless woman but in reality she sometimes behaves like a selfish and spoiled person.

Secondary characters. Probably the best thing in the whole book. But the strange thing is that the children acted more mature and were often wiser than their parents. Sometimes it wasn’t clear who the parent and who the child was. Their roles were completely reversed.

Some of the quotes that I definitely didn’t like:

(Hero)
If I’ve learned anything in the last twenty years it’s this; all women are complicated; all women strive to feel understood and all men strive to give that.

(Hero)
I feel like a slab of meat. Women are so much worse than men and coming from a construction guy, I know what I’m talking about. I’ve been heckled and cat-called and shamelessly flirted with.

Please don't let my review discourage you from reading this book. People have different tastes. You may love it.

”Maybe I want to rekindle hope.”

description

This book came highly recommended to me and so I one clicked trusting my wonderful book friends, Jenny and Donna. Turns out, this story had a huge trigger for me that they weren’t aware of since I rarely talk about the circumstances of the loss. I then proceeded to panic and message them frantically. Time difference and all, they were both sound asleep an ocean away. I had to reevaluate on my own: Should I DNF even though the writing is fantastic? Should I proceed forward even though the probability of an HEA isn’t likely? I decided the writing and the characters were just too special not to face what was to come. In the end, I’m just as proud of myself as I am of Titan Jennings and Jesenia Van Buren for taking the chance.

The story starts off with a character named Mike in 2016 getting a transplant. The authors then gift you to alternating POVS for the duration of the book of Titan and Jesenia. Titan, a widower and single dad is looking to reconnect with a woman who changed his life’s path twenty years ago.

”I met you in the snow on the last day of 1995, the same day I decided to kill myself. One year prior, I’d kill my fiancé, and a mother, a father and a daughter….”

Titan never expected his Missed Connection post to spark up such media attention and soon the response he has been waiting for appears.

”Ty, I am the girl from Hope’s Diner that New Year’s Eve in the snow. You have been with me too, for whatever reason. I, took, was somehow unable to let you go. I always wondered what my life would have been…”

Jesenia has been in a very unhappy marriage for so long. Her vibrant daughter has been the center of her universe and her best friend. I loved Jesenia’s transformation as she reconnects with Ty. She explores her sexuality while falling head over heels with Ty and his son, Luke.

”This is what second chances feel like, magical and decadent, almost like you’ve beat the powers that be at their own game and you’re dancing on borrowed time and a slowly sinking ballroom- but you won’t let it stop you.”

The writing is simply wonderful as was the depth and quality of all of the characters.

Overall, this is a truly well done read that I’m surprised I even finished. I think the characters simply demanded me to get through it. I hope friends will find the beauty in this story and take to heart the lessons learned.

“But as I cast this proverbial coin into the wishing well of the universe, it occurs to me, after a thousand what-ifs and years of lost sleep, that our connection wasn’t missed at all.”

“Missed Connection” was like nothing I had expected, with a unique premise that I found very intriguing and refreshing. This book tells the story of two individuals who are soulmates, who are separated by fate and who eventually after many, many years find each other again. Romantic and though-provoking “Missed Connection” was heartwarming as much as it was heartbreaking. It was a gripping emotional roller-coaster that I really enjoyed, a story that moved me at times to my core, a story that will make you reflect, hope and fall in love.

“Where have you been my whole life?”

“Right here, waiting for you to turn up again.”

Titan ‘Ty’ and Jesenia “Jess’ met for the first time on the last day of 1995. Back then a young Ty was devastated trying to accept his new reality - how an accident changed his life irrevocably. Jesenia was in a bad place as well. Young, pregnant and scared she has been struggling for a while with her life. They spend just a few hours together, but they connected with each other from the beginning on so many levels. They are separated by fate, but for twenty years neither of them forgot the other.

“Something about you, simply put, set my soul at ease. Maybe just the cadence of your voice or the words you chose to speak. I can’t know.”

description

In the present, Titan works as a contractor. He’s a widower and has a 15 years old son who means the world to him. With some help from his teenage son, Titan places a missed connection add on Craigslist. In a short time everyone finds out about Titan’s story and the woman who changed his life so much.

“I remember you. Your words, your kindness, your eyes and that dress. I remember the way you got my heart beating again.”

Jesenia is New York State senator’s wife. She is lonely and unhappy in her marriage. Her job and her daughter are the only two things in her life who still makes her happy. Until she finds out, Titan is looking for her and her daughter pushes her to reconnect with the man who meant a lot to her two decades ago.

This story was beautifully written and it has a little bit of everything. Titan and Jesenia’s story was simply lovely, magical and inspiring. I root for these two characters from the very beginning. Their connection was there from the start, palpable, felt real and I loved it very much.

description

Both these two characters had depth and both of them felt so relatable. Their character development was really well done and I loved the fact the story was told in dual POV.

Titan and Jesenia’s journey was wonderfully written. Both characters have their own issues, but together they try to handle everything as best as they can. I absolutely loved the tenderness between them. You can tell how much they care for each other and how much they still mean to each other.

description

Jesenia was a character I liked very much. She was a wonderful mother and a genuinely good person. She was sweet, caring, attentive and considerate. Titan was the perfect man for her in every way. He’s a good caring father and with Jesenia he was pure and simply perfect. The way he cared for her simply warmed my heart.

“You are everything I’d always dreamed you’d be and so much more.”

I loved Jesenia’s daughter and Titan’s son. They were such adorable and entertaining characters. They were the perfect children a parent can have – loving, caring, supportive no matter what. I loved their interactions and all the moments they spent together.

All in all, “Missed Connections” was an emotional breathtaking read that will move you deeply, make you feel, reflect and hope.

"Where have you been my whole life?"

"Right here, waiting for you to turn up again."

This is a really hard book to review.I went from no rating straight up to 5stars.I loved the premise...I like nothing more than second chance love and books that span over many years,it's totally my thing.

Ty is in a really bad place when on New Year's Eve 1995 he meets a beautiful young woman,Jess who is sheltering from a snow storm. They have coffee and really connect, probably more than a lot of people do in their lifetime. But all too soon the moment is gone..

After this encounter it's enough for Ty to go on living and he does just that..He marries and has a son but has never forget the beautiful girl in the green dress. He finds himself widowed and has been totally honest with his late wife and son about the encounter.

On that fateful night Jess was also running from something.....a life mapped out for her that she didn't want and she never forgot the beautiful boy she met that night.

Fast forward 20 years and Ty's son encourages him to put a post on Craigslist to find Jen..
Jess is in a loveless marriage with a Senator, she has built a successful business with her daughter Angie but feels something is missing from her life.

So,with help from the meddling children,Angie and Luke(who I absolutely loved!) Ty and Jess find each other again.

So,the story was going on very nicely...thank you when something happened that had me looking at my Kindle in absolute horror.Enough to make me not carry on.
In fact I waited 24hrs before continuing

There are bound to be books that affect us more than others but without explaining my own experiences or going into the plot, let's just say this book touched me on a very personal level and I have to say it was extremely well written and very poignant.

This was a book of highs and lows for me but I'm so glad I reached the finish line...

This book was hard to rate because whilst it wasn't a bad book in terms of storyline, engagement and character development, I was unable to connect to it on the level that I am sure the authors intended me to.

The blurb I felt was misleading because the story I read was completely opposite to what I was expecting.

Based on a true story, Titan Jennings and Jesenia Van Buren meet one day at a coffee shop when they are both feeling very down and at a pivotal point in their lives. After only a few hours they form a special connection, but after Jes runs away from their encounter, they spend the next twenty years wondering what if.

Encouraged by his teenage son, Ty puts an open letter online, searching for the woman he feels saved his life all those years ago.

What follows is a second chance romance, which is not always filled with happy moments.

At times I thought the romance was a little on the cheesy side, I feel that their reunion happened far too quickly and would have preferred more development in their relationship as friends first before declaring their love, no doubt they felt a strong emotional bond, but for two people who had only met for a few hours twenty years prior, I felt it was a bit unbelievable to be acting like old lovers.

The ending came as no surprise to me, and for that reason I didn't allow myself to emotionally connect to the tragic events that occurred.

Overall, I didn't hate it but nor did I particularly like it, but I feel my feelings may have been influenced by my ragey thoughts regarding the ending of this book.

Missed Connection is a standalone contemporary romance told in dual POV.

✯✯✯✯✯ ++++ heartbreakingly beautiful stars!

“Where have you been my whole life?”

“Right here, waiting for you to turn up again.”

You know one of those stories that grips you from page one and never lets’ go until you’ve turned the last page? Well Missed Connection is that kind of story. It was everything and more – it was absolutely flawless – it was perfection. It had everything that gets our book hearts completely invested – falling in love whilst devouring every single beautiful word and sentence written by K. Larsen and Mara White.

“What is it about you, Ty? What happened to us that night?”

‘This is what second chances feel like, magical and decadent, almost like you’ve beat the powers that be at their own game.’

When we began reading we were immediately reminded of a Craigslist notice which was shared far and wide on Facebook and Twitter. At the time it brought tears to our eyes and we both said how we’d love a book written about this moment in time. Well, who knew – it happened?!

‘His words are more than poetic. They were meant for me. Ty is looking for me.’

We certainly didn’t until we opened up this book. It was unquestionably inspiring, romantic, emotional, passionate and quite heart-breaking too. It was a story of soulmates – fate, hope and second chance love.

‘The ghost of this woman kept alive only by a matchbook, a tattoo and now, a post, just hanging out somewhere online.’

We loved that Titan and Jesenia were mature characters who’d truly lived; had a past and a present which resembled normality in life with much realism. Whilst living their own lives and bringing up their respective children; Angie and Luke, each knew that twenty years ago their heart and soul connected with a strangers – a connection that lasted one night in a diner after which neither met again…until they did.

‘It touches me deeply to know that a moment that was so pivotal in my life – was important to someone else – that it also lives on through you.’

Jesenia is in a loveless marriage; a politician’s wife who has an incredible bond with her daughter. Whilst she suffers with her own personal demons she still remembers that night when she gave a piece of her heart to a chance encounter. Jesenia stole our hearts – completely.

“So I’ve thought a lot on this whole thing and here’s what I’ve come up with – some relationships are anchored by their faith in God, when everything falls apart, both parties come back to their faith and it holds them together. Some relationships are anchored by their deep appreciation and respect for their partner. But you and I we have something different, we’re anchored by a moment in time. A chance encounter. We’re anchored by hope.”

Ty, the most eligible bachelor in contracting is raising his teenage son as a single Dad whilst reminiscing about the night his soul connected with another. We felt his longing and frustrations at what was such a highly emotionally charged moment which changed his path in life. We fell in utter love with Ty – the man he is – well he is quite simply amazing in so many respects as well as inspiring.

“You are everything I’d always dreamed you’d be and so much more.”

We urge you to pick up Ty and Jes’ story – it’s quite the journey and you will feel every emotion that is possible as you follow their journey both apart and together. Learning with them as well as exploring the mystery and romanticism of a one chance encounter that shaped lives and held such a stronghold on two souls forever.

“I hope you know, that if I could, I would give you the stars. But, instead all I can give you is everything I have in my heart.”

Missed Connection by K Larsen and Mara White
4.5 stars!!

“A serendipitous encounter, an unforgettable bind, a gift of pure solace, when the universe reached out and connected Titan to me, and me to him for a moment.”

This was my first read of either authors so I really did go into this book not knowing what to expect, but this synopsis ticked all the boxes that I love in a book so I dived in. This book is about one of my favourite subjects…second chance love, add into the mix forty somethings and I am officially hooked. I am always saying that there are not enough books that cover the forty pluses, after all, we do have a love life too!

I have to say that the writing was beautiful, lyrical and mesmerising. This was one of those books that captured my attention from the very beginning and didn’t let go until the very end. Sometimes you just know that you are going to gel with a book and that was the impression I got from the very start…me and this book were going on a journey and what a journey it was. Emotional, thought provoking, soul searching, heart breaking at times, but most of all uplifting in so many different ways.

“…fate has a strong arm and we’re blind to its intentions…”

I understand that this book was borne from a social media post of a real life Craigslist ad and having found this out after the fact really added further depth to this story. Even though the characters probably have not connected or lived out their lives like Jess and Ty you cannot help but associate this story to someone’s real life knowing that someone out there was seeking their own “Missed Connection.”

“The ghost of this woman kept alive only by a matchbook, a tattoo and now, a post, just hanging out somewhere online.”

Ty was a single dad having lost his wife five years prior. He was a perfect father and the relationship he had with his son was heart-warming and inspiring. These two really were the best of friends and were making the most of the hard hand they had been dealt. Ty had spent time reflecting on his past and especially the woman that he owed his current life to.

“I let go of his hand and walk back toward the life I was so eager to run away from.”

One night when Ty was at the lowest of the low he met a woman in a green dress at Hope’s Diner, it was snowing, freezing and she looked like a duck out of water with the weight of the world on her shoulders. Over a cup of coffee, they talked, they off loaded, but most of all they gave each other hope. He goes to the restroom and she disappears, but she left behind a piece of her, a piece that had been firmly lodged in Ty’s heart for the past twenty years.

Jess too had her issues and one being a loveless marriage to a Senator, but out of that marriage was borne a beautiful daughter that was Jess’s champion and best friend. The relationship that these too had was once again amazing, they were each other’s confidantes, they worked together and they bounced off each other, in short they kept one another going with one incredible bond.

And so Ty’s son persuades him to try to find the girl in the green dress…but is it twenty years too late?

“I hope you know, that if I could, I would give you the stars. But instead, all I can give you is everything I have in my heart.”

Jesenia and Titan’s story was epic. I lived and breathed this story and was frantically page turning as I desperately wanted these two to reunite. They had each left a piece of their hearts with each other that night, the intense feelings and recurring dreams were forever present with both of them. Twenty years of what if’s but neither would change the journey they had both been on. K Larsen and Mara White really captured the yearning, the exasperation, that soul mate connection with a flourish. I believed every word, I believed in their story…how just a few minutes in another’s company can truly change the path your life takes. How a chance meeting with a stranger can give you that hope, that sense of worth when you really think that you are worth nothing. Sometimes people are meant to meet, call it fate, kismet, destiny or whatever…sometimes it is your time, sometimes it isn’t but fate has a way of making its voice heard…will this forever be a Missed Connection or were they just twenty years too soon?

“But as I cast this proverbial coin into the wishing well of the universe, it occurs to me, after a thousand what-ifs and years of lost sleep, that our connection wasn’t missed at all.”

What happens when the person that owns your soul is someone you only met for mere minutes, twenty years ago? When that person was the one that saved your life? For Titan Jennings, that’s when you lay it all out there via craigslist and hope that she’ll read it. But sadly she doesn’t. Not right away at least.

Jesenia was lost and running scared when she ran into him that rainy day outside of Hope’s Diner twenty years ago. Unhappy in her marriage, unloved and disconnected from happiness, she’s getting a second chance to change her story. A chance to know what it would have been like had she decided to stay instead of run. With the push of her daughter and Titan’s son, Jesenia and Titan are reunited and quickly discover that spark didn’t die nor was it meaningless.

Missed Connection was an absolutely touching read of second chances, fate and undying love. One moment in time, two people met and their souls became intertwined forever.

I went into this story blind, all I knew was the title and did not even read the blurb. I was just happy knowing that I was going to read a romance about second chances. That was enough for me. But even reading the blurb would not have prepared me for the story that I read.

I was flying high, I was wallowing in despair and by the final page I had this little glimmer of hope and my sanity was restored.

Titan Jennings was so damn perfect. The perfect father, the perfect husband and lover. The way he was with Jesenia was breathtaking. The way he held her hand through her high and lows and never once looked at her like she was a burden.

There are times when a book can move you and when you can read something and walk away from it and know that it just stole a little piece of your heart. This was one of those stories. I will not forget this story or the message it delivered.

This book sadly fell victim to my DNF streak.

The basic premise of this story is Titan and Jesenia unexpectedly meet one day at a coffee shop. They both are currently having a tough time in their lives, and feel a connection to the other. After spending a few hours together, Jesenia leaves, leaving only a matchbook for Titan with no clue as to where she went or who she was.

Fast forward 20 years, both still wonder about the other, which causes Titan to put out a Craig's list ad searching for her.

I wasn't able to get to the point where these two actually reconnect. I found the dialogue extremely stiff, robotic, and cheesy. And that is what always makes or breaks a book for me. If the dialogue can't be read out loud without sounding natural, I just can't connect to it.

Because of this, I didn't connect to the MCs or the story, and was just plain bored and had to throw in the towel. I wish I could say more on what didn't work for me, but I didn't get that far into the book to be able to discuss it in great detail. I just didn't connect with it from the very beginning, and didn't see a point in continuing.

The ultimate second chance love story that is both heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Going into this book, I had a feeling that I was in for an emotional ride. Michelle (one of our blog reviewers) read this book about a week before me, and then she went on and on about her book hangover. So I held onto this book for a while, until I knew I had the time to read this in private, with tissues and alcohol on standby.

One New Year's Eve, Titan and Jesenia meet for the first time under the awning of the aptly named, Hope's Diner. On this day, Titan is consumed with grief and guilt to the point of wanting to end his life. Jesenia feels trapped in a loveless relationship which she can't walk away from, for unknown reasons. For a brief time, the two bond together and despite that limited time, never let those memories fade away.

Like many others, I am fascinated by the idea of Craig's List Missed Connections. How someone sees another or barely interacts with them, yet that moment impacts the other so greatly, they don't want to walk away. That's the basis of this story, as Titan tries to find the woman who not only saved his life, but whose eyes have a permanent place in his mind.

Given the time between their first meeting and the letter, I wasn't surprised how hard it was to find that connection with Jesenia. But Titan's letter is so romantic, it catches the attention of many and gathers momentum via social media.

It was amusing how Titan and Jesenia's paths cross again. I loved how there was no doubt between them that their time at the diner was a random moment. These two belonged together and some events just delayed their union. I also adored both of their kids, Jesenia's daughter, Angie, and Titan's son, Luke. They are such great kids and it was so sweet how they just wanted to see their parents happy.

As these two authors are known to do, I fully expected them to throw me a curveball. But I was distraught with what they threw at me. WHHHHYYYYY?!?! Although I as so mad at what they did to this couple, how it was handled was beautiful and touching. I pretty much cried thru the last 30% of the book, and barely could see the words the last 10%. My only ugly cry of 2015.

This is honestly one of the most touching stories I've read in a long time. I encourage everyone to dig in, grab tissues, and get ready to fall in love with this beautiful couple.

MISSED CONNECTION had me at hello! Something about 40-something main characters gets me EVERY time. Put this fantastic, second-chance romance on your must-read list for 2016! When I finished this book, I was a sobbing mess and felt compelled to finish my bottle of wine…yes, it’s THAT kind of emotional, yet very satisfying and ultimately uplifting kind of story,

I am a HUGE fan of Mara White but have never read anything by K. Larsen although JEZEBEL has been on my Kindle since its release. MISSED CONNECTION is not really typical of Mara White’s other books and it just shows the breadth of her amazing writing talent. I can’t tell you how thrilled I was to read a book with older characters, who have lived a life and who have a richness and a history to their stories.

The writing is perfection. It is stunning, with an easy flow and believable dialogue and settings. Ty and Jess have very realistic jobs, family issues and other “adult” issues in both their lives. If you’ve read the Synopsis, you know this book is based on a “missed connection” between these two years before and that they seek each other out via a Craigslist ad.

“The ghost of this woman kept alive only by a matchbook, a tattoo and now, a post, just hanging out somewhere online.”

Please don’t read anything more about this book; just grab a bottle of wine, find a comfortable spot and get ready to lose yourself in this story. It is heartfelt, passionate, funny at times, and yes, very, very sexy. Ty and Jess will not be forgotten and this book just goes to show you that there is always hope, there is always the chance of true love and a true connection and there is always the chance to take the path that is right for you. I took away from this book the powerful message to always follow your heart. This gem of a book should be on everyone’s must-read list. You won’t regret it.

“I hope you know, that if I could, I would give you the stars. But instead, all I can give you is everything I have in my heart.”

Believe in true love. It’s real and it can be life-changing. Thank you Mara White and K. Larsen for a gorgeous story, I loved every single word!

Son: Mom what's wrong? Why are you crying?
Me: It’s because of this book I just finished.
Son: It was so bad it made you cry?
Me: NO. It was incredible! I LOVE this book!
Son: Is this book by a writer you talk about on your blog?
Me: Yes, it's by two writers Mara White and K. Larsen- Author.
Son: Ok. After you are finished crying can you make me dinner?

Yes, this convo happened two hours ago. After I found a huge box of tissues, I finally made dinner. I knew I should have ordered in a pizza half way into Missed Connection. I couldn’t put this book down if I tried. So many feels. Missed Connection is incredible. I will write a full-review after I deal with my book hangover.

no rating.

i finished the book earlier and yet i just can't explain why this story as a whole didn't work for me. explaining anymore would spoil the story line so i'll leave it there. for other readers this one seems to be a heartfelt and gut wrenching tale of love and reconnection and i can absolutely see why that is the case but at the same time i felt rather disconnected from both the H/h. i think it's more a case of 'it's not you, it's me.' rating low because of that would be unfair as it is well written and engaging.

This book...was everything.

I went into this book not ever having read anything by either author before. Immediately, from the prologue, I was sucked in--completely enthralled by their detailed scene setting and emotional story telling. There wouldn't be any setting the book down until I'd devoured every single word.

Titan, such a big man, with a big heart. An incredible soul.
"If I have my way--it means you and me forever, whatever that my look like."

Jess, a flawed woman with an uncanny ability to turn her shortcomings into incredible gifts. A true gem.
"You're talking about a man who wrote to the heavens, searching the universe for you. He's serious about you and he'll accept all of your flaws. That's what lovers do for one another, Mom--they love the hell out of each other, including the tough parts."

Together, their connection was anything but missed. It was everything. Their love was the kind of love that moved mountains. A love that transcended time and physical barriers. Together, their love anchored them when the world around them spun wildly out of control.

"I don't register anything but her. I want to take this moment and wrap it up in a box so that I can open it over and over in the coming years and feel this same sense of awe and wonder."

All was well....until it wasn't. And that's where the two authors revealed their gift of storytelling to us. The ability to not only delicately weave our hearts into their story alongside their characters, but also to slice open our chests with their words and rip out pieces of our soul until we were left with nothing but a shredded mess of emotions in the end.

This story was sweet and heartwarming. Brave and touching. And soul crushing. I haven't read anything like it and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

"Something about you, simply put, set my soul at ease. Maybe just the cadence of your voice or the words you chose to speak. I can't know."

Buy this book. Read it. Give a piece of your heart to it. You won't regret it, nor will you forget about this story for a very long time.

Bravo ladies. This book was everything.

I thought Missed connection was going to be a story about a second chance romance, but it turns out it was so, so much more. Missed Connection was the story of Jess & Titan - two people who met for one brief moment in time and yet they left a mark on each other for decades. I loved both of their characters (it was an absolute pleasure to read a story about people my own age!) and the story of their second chance at love. What I didn't expect was to fall in love with Jess & Ty, and to hurt from the emotional heartbreak as they each fought their own battles. I loved the fact that they were a biracial couple and it wasn't made out to be a big deal - it was just a characteristic that was mentioned as quickly as mentioning hair color or any other quality. This story touches on so many lessons about life, loss, and resilience. Jess & Ty's relationships with their kids were so filled with friendship and love. I loved Angie's character, she made me laugh at times when I really needed it. I did feel that I was kind of blindsided by Ty's issues, it seemed to come out of nowhere in the middle of the book. But it didn't take anything away from my love for the story. The epilogue was beautiful and gave me chills!! It was the perfect ending to the story.

This is a book that I will remember for some time to come. It's beautifully written by two authors that I haven't read before, but now I will be sure to check out their other books. Be sure to have the tissues on hand for this one!

Well I totally feel like the odd one out right now.

My poor kindle only just survived that journey, my sanity, not so much.

I can't review this, Jesus, I can't even rate it. It really didn't work for me and I can't even tell you why because that would spoil your experience.

It's not that it's a bad story or that it's written poorly because it's not. It's that age old saying it's not you its me :(

Boy oh Boy oh Boy......I started off the New Year with a bang reading this 4.5 stars heart wrenching book!!!

Pick this book up.....you won't be disappointed. It is a touching story of love and loss, and how people come into our lives for a reason, whether it be for a fleeting moment or a life time.Connections can be made at the most inopportune time, but Love can find its way and conquer all.

I loved all of the characters in this book. They made me laugh, they made me cry.

Every one deserves a second chance at happiness.......some get more hopefully.

I loved Titan......he was like a dream book boyfriend. He was a great friend, father, husband ......the whole package.

Jesenia was a great character too who knew what she wanted and how to get it.I loved her relationship with her daughter.

Great supporting characters in this story too.

From now on when I see K.Larsen's name on a book,I'm reading it.I thought she had me sold after Jezebel, but this book just proved it even more.

I can’t believe it! Really, I cannot believe it. This book had…. *gasp* ADULTS in it. OMG! Yes, I said it. Adults. I will even spell it so I am not misunderstood: a-d-u-l-t-s. It was so nice to read a book where the characters are on the other is side of the age line where the “old” people hang out.

Argh. Ty & Jess’s story is heart-crushingly sexy, sweet, swoony, and downright emotional. As much as I loved Ty and Jess, it’s the daughter, Angie, that stood out for me. I love that girl.

This is a hard book to do a review for. Why? Well, I was a complete hot mess after reading it. I’m talking swollen eyelids, mascara streaks, flushed cheeks. Yep...pretty much a disaster. So I slept on it to gather my thoughts and to make myself sound a bit more coherent. I also really want to shy away from giving any sort of spoiler because I really think this book is one you need to go into blind.

Titan and Jesenia meet on New Year’s Eve twenty years ago and make quite the impact on each other in such a short amount of time. Both are facing problems in their lives and are at a bit of a crossroads. Though their meeting was short-lived, it impacted their lives so deeply.

"How can one cup of coffee give you the feeling that you've known someone forever?"

Now in the present both are still thinking of each other and what could have been. Titan places a Missed Connections ad on Craigslist to try and find Jesenia after so many years. The ad sets into motion what I can assure you is a beautiful love story. I enjoyed the whirlwind and the romance of how they actually got back together face-to-face.

Both Titan and Jesenia have their fair share of problems. Jesenia is in the absolute most loveless marriage but has the most amazing relationship with her daughter. I was very moved by the relationship she shared with Angie and wish that I had that sort of relationship with my own mother. Titan is a widower and is now a single parent to his son Luke, who's such a great kid. Together these four mesh so well together you'd have thought they were always a family.

"I hope you know, that if I could, I would give you the stars. But instead, all I can give you is everything in my heart."

My heart was with Jesenia throughout this entire book. There was so much about her and her story that really resonated with me. Out of the both of them, I really wanted Jesenia to have her happy ending.

Missed Connections isn’t just a beautiful love story, it’s a story that teaches you what’s most important in life. Don’t take anything for granted. Live in the moment. Cherish the people you love and the time you have with them.

Also, make sure to have tissue on hand with this book. I think this is only the second book this year that has made me cry.

5 Emotionally Unforgettable Stars

I’ve put off writing this review. I needed time. Well, my battered heart needed time. So now, here I sit trying to come up with the words to do this beautiful love story justice. I don’t think I can. I was entranced from prologue to epilogue. I couldn’t stop. My heart? It swelled, ached and shattered. My mind? It was consumed, overwhelmed and taken over by this stunning love story.

Ty owned me right from beginning to end. He is an incredibly noble and generous soul that stole my entire heart. Not just a piece. The whole damn thing. This man is an honest father who loves with all that he is. A man with an incredible spirit. He took a chance on a love from the past, he reached out and what he experienced in return with Jess was once in a lifetime love. This is a second chance love story. It is all encompassing. Beautiful. Sexy. Endearing. It is EVERY. FUCKING. THING. I cannot say enough about Jess and Ty’s love story.

I loved their children. Ty’s son Luke, my GOD. I love that kid hard. Jess’ daughter Angie? Ahhh! What a spunky girl. She’s so awesome. And together these two are so supportive of their parents’ love. I just adored that, it made this classic love story even more precious to me. These kids swept me off my feet. I felt like a part of their blended family. Oh! My heart! I felt the love, affection, joy and tears through each character. That is one of the most special feelings ever! And I will never forget it!

I was moved in every way imaginable by Missed Connection. I felt all the feels. Love. Sadness. Happiness. Heart ache. Heart break. Anger. Frustration. Hope. All of those feelings that grip onto your soul. I felt them with Ty, Jess and their family. Well, here come the tears again. My heart. I don’t know if it will ever heal from what I experienced, but I wouldn’t change a thing about this story. And Ty and Jess’ story is one I won’t soon forget. They will be forever anchored to my heart and soul.

Love may be infinite but time is not; Missed Connection is a novel about making the very best you can with what little you’ve got.

When I first started reading Missed Connection, the Pina Colada Song by Rupert Holmes was running through my head (sing it with me now)

… If you like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain
If you're not into yoga, if you have half a brain
If you like making love at midnight in the dunes of the cape
Then I'm the love that you've looked for, write to me and escape…

Now that you’ve laughed, and laughed, don’t judge. Missed Connection is about a couple who met one time but all it took was that one time to make a lasting impression on each of their lives. Such an impression that, 20 years and a lifetime of experiences later, they both still think of each other.

What comes next is a Craig’s List ad, emails, texts, and more. But can one night be enough to sustain them if and when they meet again?

From the beginning of this book, and specifically I mean page one, the authors evoke all types of emotion. Heart pounding, eye leaking emotion! The kind where you aren’t sure whether to throw your kindle, reach for the cookies and the wine, or grab the tissue box for the wild ride that you know is sure to ensue. I’m a lover of love, in all forms. Missed Connection is all about L.O.V.E. The kind of love that encompasses your heart and soul. The type of love that never leaves you, no matter what.

I’m going to refill my tissue box, make more cookies and find the hidden bottle of wine to keep me company while I wonder… did I ever have a Missed Connection in my life? ~ Heather, 5 Beautiful stars

description

"He was a stranger but somehow he drew me in, like a ship that drops anchor to steady against stormy weather."

This book was AMAZING!!! Seriously it was so emotional and beautiful. ALL the characters were amazing. I spend the last 25% of the book crying my eyes out. While I am writing this review I get teary-eyed. This story was about two beautiful characters: Jess and Ty. They met 20 years ago and spend a small amount of time together but made such a huge impact on each others lives. They never forgot about the other. After 20 years Ty takes actions to find Jess. It was one of the most beautiful thing ever. I just loved how he reached out to her.

"I don't want the stars, Titan, and I don't need eternity. This moment, in your arms is more than enough for me."

The reunion between the two was beautiful. It was very emotional but it was like two halves of a soul becoming one. They were made for eachother. It was a major tear-jerker for me. I am a very emotional reader, and I don't think I'll ever forget about this book. I am hoping there will be a sequel or a spin-off of this book. I need more and I just don't want to say goodbye to these characters. The writing was really good. K. Larsen and Mara White did a great job in writing this book together. Looking forward to reading more books co-written by them.

I know I’m going to be in the minority with this review… but I just missed the connection with this one. The premise of this book is amazing - the hero sends out a missed connection post on Craigslist - but the execution of this book just wasn’t there for me.

The characters didn’t feel completely flushed out, for instance I felt at times that they seemed old fashioned in the way they spoke and treated each other - and then at other times they came across too young, almost childish. The sex between them was like a 3rd version of them - being hot and heavy and even a bit dirty. That didn’t jive with who they seemed to be during the rest of the novel. Because I didn’t connect with them I found myself lingering on the page, thinking about how it didn’t work more than I found myself actually reading the words.

I will say this… I cried for Jess and Ty at the end of the book. There were bright moments here and there - I would be on the fence and then something would happen and I would tell myself that THIS was the moment I was going to love this book. Because I really, really wanted to. But it would fizzle out and I would find myself wishing I could love it more. I hate when I don’t love a book that I’m super excited to read. That said, so many other people are loving this book so I think everyone should still give it a shot and see what they think for themselves. 2.5 - 3 stars

Heart breaking and poignant with a moral - don't put up with mediocre, take life by the horns and live it fully.

When Titan and Jess meet on a snowy New Year's Eve she is running away from her life, he is drowning in regret with his. A connection and a spark changes the course of Titan's life and he never forgets the beautiful girl with the green ball gown. And she never forgets the strong handsome black man, her anchor.

Skip forward 20 years and Titan, aka Mr eligible bachelor decides to find Jess.

Sat on the sofa with my poorly blanket feeling like death, Missed Connection got me through the day. Other books I have read by Mara White have been more gritty, this was more mellow, I presume that is the K Larsen influence. It was quite unusual for me to read romance where the characters are in their forties - and yes people in their forties do still have sex!

"Life alters you, changes the fabric of your soul and teaches you things over time."

"Fate has a strong arm and we're blind to its intentions."

"If I could, I would give you the stars, but instead, all I can give you is everything I have in my heart."

What an emotional rollercoaster. I was not prepared to read this story. I went in thinking a missed connection between two and they find each other after a few years. No, this was a chance encounter that saved both of their lives. They lived with the memory for twenty years. Always pulling up the memory when they needed it.
Ty finally gets the courage to post about this missed connection with the help of his son, Luke.
Jesenia is bipolar and bipolar. She has been married but in a loveless marriage. The only good thing from this is her daughter Angie.

The banter between the parents and their kids just warms my heart. The way the kids conspire to get them together is heartwarming. the emails and texts between Ty and Jesenia are so sweet and loving. Just seeing the two and the connection they still have is overwhelming.

My heart is completely broken after reading this story. Ty and Jesenia deserve a happily ever after. I have tears in my eyes.
