The story follows a courageous child as they track down the missing letters of their name. Along the way they meet lots of marvelous characters, who each give the child a letter from their name. So, for example, a girl called Emily would meet an Elephant, Mermaid, Imp, Lion and Yeti.
The beauty of the book is that each child’s name creates its own special, personalized tale.
I bought this book as a present and I loved it so much that I couldn't help it, I had to buy one for myself!
The story is really plain, but the magical thing is that it's personalized and while I was reading it, I couldn't stop smiling :). This is supposed to be for kids, but I think that if you're a book lover, this will be a nice addition to your collection. AND it is a great gift!
First I would have to say I was very impressed with the quality of the book. Printed on high quality thick carded paper these books will take years of page turning by hands both small and large.
My granddaughter received two of these personalised books for her second birthday. I think this was the result of a wide and highly successful marketing campaign as other guests (at her birthday celebration) also remarked that they had looked at buying this particular book.
Both books were exactly the same unfortunately. However, I have noticed on the website that there are options, although very limited, to change some of the characters. Although in this case the buyer would have to pre-empt that the recipient may already have a copy. There are also options for the child’s hair and skin colour.
The story is about a little girl who goes on an adventure to find her lost name. As she meets different characters along the way they each give her the first letter of their name.
I loved that there were some unusual characters, such as a Narwhal, Aardvark and Nabarlek, rather than the typical farm and zoo animals. Each animal tells a little about themselves eg: Aardvark eats ants; Narwhal is called the sea unicorn.
My Granddaughters name has 7 letters and the book had 36 pages which I feel is great value for money. But what if your name is Zoe or Sam? They’ve thought of that too and added in 4 extra pages of story for short names.
Most importantly my Granddaughter absolutely loves this book!
I ordered this book for my nephew for Christmas, and it is like the cutest thing ever. The artwork is adorably beautiful and I think the story is super cute too.
My only complaint would be that it's a soft cover book, and had already ripped, but that's what happens with toddlers I guess. Still I would've liked a hardcover option.
On the other hand, its super adorable and Zachary loved it, so it was worth it. He has brought it to me 3 times to read, and his favorite part is the "bobot" on the R page. Awesome.
The person who came up with this book idea deserves a gold star. The book is so cute and creative, and I love that they are personalized. I would have loved this as a kid. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because it is pretty expensive. I did get the cheapest one, and it seems pretty sturdy considering it's a paperback.
You can’t not give a personalized book less than a 5 star review right? My best friend and her sons customized this book for my son for his birthday. It’s a sweet story about a child who loses their name and you can customize the book with the names of creatures to help spell out the letters of the name. Our story had an Ostrich, Wizard, Elephant and Narwhal. It’s very cute a great gift for a little reader. Would highly recommend.
Yo lo lei con mi nombre "EVELYN" creo que es bonito detalle para regalar al ser un cuento personalizado, y q se lee rapido. Una busqueda para encontrar tu nombre.
I had this book personalized for my Granddaughter for Christmas. They did a fantastic job and the artwork is wonderful. Big bright bold pictures and a very cute story line. Now I can't wait 'til Christmas to give this to her and see her reaction when she realizes its a book about HER!
Grabbed this book at a thrift store ... and once I realized it was a personalized creation, it made me a little sad that it had been discarded (but I also understand that not everyone feels the same towards books and there can be storage issues, a child outgrows a book, even a personalized one). There's a URL at the back www.lostmy.name which takes you to the main page of https://www.wonderbly.com/
The book was very well made, had a unique and fabric/matte feel to the cover, slightly different shape than most picture books (just a little longer). It starts with a little girl who wakes in the morning and her name sign, usually hanging on the door, is missing ... and without it, she doesn't really remember who she is. Off on a magical journey meeting other creatures, helping them with small problems, and being rewarded with letters along the way. Letters that spell her name.
I could totally see for a child who understood the spelling of their own name, the excitement of recognizing the letters, putting it together than the little girl (is there a little boy version too?) has the same name, their name! Here (according to the dedication) ... this was to a one year old (too young to recognize letters at that birthday) and Emma Scout ... your book is making its way through Utah Little Free Libraries.
The illustrations were cute, some of the animal/creature/beastie situations were a little odd (the mermaid for M was quite mean and rude, I had to read the E for Elephant over (the "she" being referred to on the page, was that the little girl she, or the elephant she? It was a little confusing). An Okapi? I was thinking "wasn't there an octopus for "O"? but I guess that had been a squid (although it looked very octopus like, yes, longer head).
Just from my perspective ... here the name (first and last) added up to nine. I can see someone wanting to get their money's worth, adding the last name to personalize it more, but it went on a little long (I know that totally depends on the name, but this was the choice to use both the first and the last name). Here, I think it would have been better to just use the first name, shorter story ... and the book, while personalized, could also perhaps fall into the hands of another little girl with the same first name or even just enjoyed with a random name. Being SO personalized, it's in an awkward position (can't really pass it on to others the way you do regular books).
In The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name, the little girl wakes up and realizes that her name has been stolen from her bedroom door. Crawling under her bed, her adventure to find her name begins. Meeting animals throughout the book, each gives her a letter that represents them. Helping the animals find who they are, the little girl ventured through the book looking for her name finding it in the end.
This book has such a fun story line! I really enjoyed getting to go through the story with the little girl, watching her help the animals and figure out who she is. For this book I would recommend it to a first or second grade class.
The Little Girl Who Lost Her Name could be used for learning how to spell. This book attaches the letters to an animal. Additionally, any kid can have this story customized to fit their own name!
My husband ordered this book for my son’s first Christmas. He’s almost five now and enjoys things that are personalized with his name, so this is very delightful for him. The idea of the story is pretty cute, with a child going on an adventure and earning each letter of his name from animals or other fantastic creatures. The rhymes get to be a little forced occasionally but overall it’s not too bad. The illustrations are pretty cute, and a little funny.
this book is a good book its about this girl who wakes up and looses her name and she needs to go through all of these animals and they each have a letter of her name and she learns that her name is hers and nobody can take it away from her. It has a special meaning because anything that is yours noone can take it away because it is your permitly.
A lovely personalised book for children to go on an adventure to find their name with beautiful illustrations and a personalised avatar so the main character is just like them.
However, from a phonetic point of view, although children are stealing letters from the other characters, if the child is not at a reading level, the sounds of letters may be a bit confusing.
Es un cuento muy simple y muy hermoso. No sólo para niños y niñas pequeñas, que también. Creo que es un libro muy bonito y especial para regalar (o para ti misma) que gustará sin importar la edad.
My daughter's name has 3 letters. She received the book as a first birthday present and it's still one of her favorites to this day (she's about to turn 7). She loves the story, the illustrations and she pictures herself going on the adventure to find her name. I highly recommend it!
Great rhymes involving creatures whose names begin with each letter of a child’s name. The rhymes are very long but also very clever and flow well. It makes my son feel v special to have a story written about him 🥰
This book was a joy to read. I read this book to my daughter also every night. My book is the right size, because my daughter has eight letters in her name.
Beautiful art, excellent rhyming and word variety, and fun personalisation help children remember how to spell their name. We got this for our three year old and she loves it! So do I.
