Newlyweds Paul and Capie Armstead are also the world’s newest wizards in over 400 years. Sadly, the other wizards of the world, who control all of Earth’s governments, are trying to get rid of both bride and groom. Which is how Paul finds himself desperately learning how to combine technology with their newly acquired powers. He has no other choice, if he wants to save himself and his wife—and as long as he's at it, the rest of humanity as well! Paul has definite plans of how to deal with these power mongering wizards. Unfortunately, those evil lowlifes have no intentions of leaving the young couple alone long enough to complete any research. Between avoiding monsters known as Oni, bad wizards and doing near-impossible experiments of blending magic and science, Paul and Capie have all the makings of a bad day. But there’s one thing that they have when a wizard takes on a responsibility, he does what needs doing. And the people in their way had better move.
The unfolding of the plot builds in intensity into a crescendo of action and peril. Paul must keep Capie safe, yet the power he needs is two weeks from completion. What will he do? I feel the anxiety as they fight for solutions to protect themselves and innocents. I like the scientific background as it sets the stage for the decisions and actions Paul and Capie must take. I like the action, humor, and romance. I look forward to the next book.
This was ok, but nothing outstanding. The story is progressing forwards, but the characters still seem rather unlikely to me. The bad guys have a single response to any problem and the only character who actually really thinks before they act is the hero of the story. There's also some Australian characters in this book -and they are horrible caricatures. I live in Australia and I can tell you most people do not use as much local slang as these ones who sound a bit like Crocodile Dundee clones. Despite the flaws in the book I'll probably pick up book 3 when it comes out, just don't go into this with high expectations.
Did not hold my interest the way the first book. Way to detailed on how objects where made. I have not checked but I assume the author is actually an engineer or scientist just from the heavy details. Actually too detailed since it took me away from the storyline and characters. I will still purchase the 3rd book when it arrives. This book did not totally turn me off the series. Hopefully the 3rd book will be more like the 1st and less like 2nd in writing?
It's was a great sequel as expected with the right amount of magic and science. My only problem was the MC coulda had a little more 'chutzpah' when dealing with his enemies. Swift and Merciless He Must Be!!
This was a great sequel. The mixing of science, science fiction and the world of wizards I find fascinating. I also liked that there was no profanity. When you are a talented writer like Mr Michaels, you can get away with it. Keep them coming.
This continued the story nicely and was pretty fun to boot. Michaels hopefully has a path of where these are going to go, and I look forward to seeing where that takes us.
