As nerdy (heh) as this will sound, this is the series that inspired me to become a writer.

I was in 5th, 6th, and then 7th grade when I read the N.E.R.D.S. collection. It appealed to me. I was always a geeky kid, though I never really felt ashamed to be myself. Michael Buckley furthered that sentiment for me. This ragtag group of (mostly) heroes was exactly something an aspiring young writer needed. While I am now 23 and cannot remember the names of any character whatsoever, their unique personalities, genuinely compelling backstories, interpersonal relationships, and specific brands of nerdiness resonated with me.

Right then and there, I knew I wanted to write characters that made others feel the same emotions Michael Buckley's characters made me feel.

The NERDS series is full of spy agency mystery as well as classic Michael Buckley humor.
