Welcome to Redemption #4

Grounds for Change

Rate this book
WELCOME TO REDEMPTION ...a small town in Northeast Wisconsin where second chances don’t always come easy, but if you’re willing to try, anything is possible. Grounds for Change, Book 4 Charlie Russell lived with a secret for fourteen years, but now guilt has pushed him to the breaking point. He meets psychologist Dana McClain and feels an instant connection that has nothing to do with his Great Dane, Sugar, spilling coffee down her shirt. Dana switched to counseling animals because she has a history of becoming too emotionally involved with her clients. She figures she’s safe helping Charlie with Sugar’s issues, until he reveals his secret and asks for her help. She tries to convince herself it's all about the dog, not the guy, but history has a way of repeating itself. “With their easy, breezy style and skilled characterizations, Rogers and Netzel have created a town that readers won't want to leave.” ~ Romantic Times Book Reviews Allie lapsed into silence, and Dana sat back to watch the dogs nosing about. She wished she could redo the whole morning. Instead of being so bitchy because he’d sent her pulse into overdrive when Allie opened the front door, she’d have been nice to him. Maybe even flirted. Like those couple minutes in the coffee shop before he’d made that sarcastic comment—that’d been nice. And maybe instead of being so defensive and insecure about what she did for a living, she could just shut up and do her job and let her actions speak for themselves. That’d certainly get her a lot further than the road she’d taken so far. Hindsight being twenty-twenty really sucked. Dana sat up in her chair, rested her forearms on her knees and looked at Allie. “You said something about obedience classes to Charlie yesterday. Has Sugar had any training?” “I don’t think he’s had time.” Dana stood. “Well, I do.” Allie’s brows shot skyward, and her expression triggered Dana’s defenses. “I’ve got nothing else to do until Rick Wilde calls anyway.” “You’ve just seen for yourself Charlie’s got issues,” Allie warned. “And much as I love the guy, I don’t want to see you get hurt again. You can’t deny this is your classic situation.” “I know, I know, but this time I’m walking in with my eyes wide open. I know the signs and this is just about the dog, not the guy.” Allie stood, hands lifted hands in surrender, and backed toward the house. “Whatever you say.” Dana waited until she’d disappeared before turning to look at Sugar. “Just the dog—not the guy,” she murmured. Maybe if she repeated the words enough they would be true. The Wanting of Love

Thank you for this heartwarming love story. It took a lot of perseverance and courage for Charlie to convince Dana that he really wanted her to be his for life.

This is the first book I have read in this series. I have read Chasin Mason by this author and was looking forward to this one. This read was on the shorter side and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the characters thought they were good. Love when animals are in books, Sugar is awesome. Charlie is dealing with guilt of a bad decision he made and its only getting harder to function. Dana switched from being a psychologist with human's to pets, she's got her own issues to deal with. As these two characters navigate through emotional turmoil they get closer. I liked then together and enjoyed the secondary characters as well. Very good read 4 stars review by Nanee at upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com

Charlie and Dana both have issues that they need to work through. This was a good quick read! Charlie and Dana are a cute couple and have so much in common. Dana is trying not to make the same mistakes as she has in the past and Charlie needs to talk to his family about something that happened fourteen years ago. This was an emotional book and I am enjoying this series!

Received this in a collection. First 6 books of the series. I read one when I feel like reading short quick reads. None of the stories are very long.
I've been waiting for Charlie's turn. He's been in all the books so far. Now its finally this turn.

Fun short read -- and I was a sucker for Sugar's antics in Tara and Wes's story, so more is always good....

Where were the editors on this one? Drives me nuts when I see loose for lose. Other than the editing, I enjoyed the story.

Matt and Carrie. Hated her. She hated him, was always complaining about him, did nothing but talk bitchy to him, yet she had the hots for him? I don't think so!
