My daughter says that her and Pippa Morgan are the same, they both love chicken nuggets so much! There were lots of giggles from her while we read the book. I thought it was cute and funny, and I loved reading it with my daughter.

This book is amazing! It's basically where pippa Morgan is planning on getting her teacher and her mum get together for valentines day and then they can stay together but... her mum had wore a fancy dress on the wrong day that pippa was trying to misbehave so she can get into trouble. While pippa is planning that she is also heading on a school trip to the zoo and she found her hero. A DETECTIVE!!! Pippa Morgan loves detectives!!!

I had the pleasure of reading Pippa Morgan's Diary, book one in Annie Kelsey's series. Having found it adorable and charming, I was indeed looking forward to read more of Pippa's adventures. In Love and Chicken Nuggets, Pippa has most parts of her own life under control: she and her BFF Catie are going strong, she has a continued love for the best food in the world (chicken nuggets), and has a newfound area of passion: detective work!

With Valentine's Day on the horizon- which all of her classmates seem to be buzzing about- however, Pippa comes to see that perhaps there are some things missing: specifically, her single mom is missing a husband!

In her gently funny, well-meaning methods that often go awry, Pippa takes it upon herself to find her kind mom a husband ASAP. As with Pippa Morgan's Diary, Love and Chicken Nuggets just blooms with sweetness and lightheartedness! Pippa is, as ever, a relatable young protagonist with understandable worries, concerns, and thoughts. The Pippa Morgan's Diary series is genuinely fun and sweet- an altogether happy series works nicely and doesn't veer off into the too fluffy and/or cutesy because author Kelsey keeps the characters and their (mis)adventures pretty well-grounded.

Readers who enjoy chapter books such as The Princess in Black series by Shannon and Dean Hale, Kate DiCamillo's Mercy Watson series, Rebecca Elliot's Owl Diaries, or Poppy Green's Sophie Mouse series might especially enjoy this charming series.

The plot of this book is about ho Pippa wants to marry off her Mom and thinks her teacher would be the best person for the job.

And if the book was just that, it would be dull, dull dull. But instead, this is very cute, and very lively. The soul of the book is Pippa and her love for her best friend and for chicken nuggets. The part about marrying off her mother is the plot yes, but not in the way it sounds.

I loved read thing, and think that the intended audience would too.

There are some middle-school books where the kids don't talk in the vernacular. I'm not sure why. Perhaps they think it would make it too hard to read. The thing that endured me to this book is that the Pippa, who is narating the book, talks with a great stream of consciousness. For example
"She says snakes give her the "heebie-jeebies." Isn't that the BEST word ever? I hope something gives me the heebie-jeebies one day; it sounds fun, although Catie says it isn't.

and, because the story takes place around Valentine's Day, she says:
"I'm not sure St. Valentine would like to be remembered by a bunch of flowers. He'd be all, "I got my head cut off for THIS?"

So, librarians, school teachers, parents, this book will be enjoyed by young readers.

Since I reviewed Book 1 last year, after receiving an advanced copy from NetGalley, I figured I may as well go on and review Book 2. Since the first installment was a cute, fun, breezy read, it was pretty safe to assume that the second would be a quick entertainment after a long day at work.

And, for the most part, it was pretty good. Book 2 has Pippa scheming to find her mother a husband in time for Valentine's Day, which leads her to set her sights on her teacher. In order to get him to initiate a parent-teacher conference, Pippa experiments with a wacky assortment of ways to be a nuisance to her classmates, all in hopes of finding a little happiness for her mom.

While the mother-teacher love match was an interesting enough backdrop, it was really the lessons on genuineness and friendship that made the story even cuter. Just like the previous installment, Love and Chicken Nuggets will be loads of fun for early chapter readers or younger children seeking a bedtime story that's relateable and entertaining too.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing an advanced copy of both books for the purposes of providing an honest review.

Pippa Morgan wants to start her diary with really exciting news, but the only news she has is that Mr. Bacon has assigned a really awful project. She has to write about love for Valentine's Day. Gross! But then she finds out she can write about anything she loves. Pippa loves a lot of things but she loves detectives and chicken nuggets the most. Can Pippa tie all the things she loves together for her big Valentine's Day project?

"Love and Chicken Nuggets" written by Annie Kelsey is an entertaining story for independent readers. Pippa is funny and her narration is lively. Children will relate to the problems she faces and her wild imagination. The diary format is popular in books for older children so younger readers might feel more grown up having their own "diary" to enjoy. Children might also learn something about Saint Valentine which is an added bonus. Overall, a great chapter book for strong independent readers in lower grade levels.

Thank you to Net Galley and Sourcebooks Jabberwocky for a reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this cute story for middle grade children! When my daughter is older I can see this being a series that I would be OK with her reading. Of course I am biased even more, as I really enjoy books that are told in a diary format. When I read the synopsis and saw it was a children's book told in a diary format, I knew that I had to read it.

In this story, Valentine's Day is upon us (ick!) and Pippa's mom doesn't have a Valentine. Enter Pippa to save the day while also completing her Valentine's Day Project. What are the three things you love the most?

Definitely recommend this book for girls in middle grade! If this book is like the rest of the books in the series, then I will be finding the other books for me to read - oh yeah, and also my daughter!

I received this e-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Perfect for the targeted third-to-fifth-graders, this quick read features a pretty normal little girl. She’s not an outstanding genius, nor is she a problem child. She’s just a kid, and I like that. Normal little kids need normal little kids to read about, too.

The writing is cute and accessible, and many second-graders would be able to handle it with no problem.

Possible Objectionable Material:
Ummm…they go to a zoo. Some people don’t like zoos. Really, I got nothin’.

Who Would Like this Book:
It’s definitely targeted at girls, but some boys might like it, too. The naughtiest child in the book is a boy—maybe we’re being a little sexist here? This series is aimed at early elementary grades, and that feels right. Lexile Measure: HL730L
