Another sparkling, sexy and fun story about a small–town girl and a city slicker who aren't looking for love but find it when a pampered Doberman unleashes their passion.
Karen Kendall is the author of many disasters and nine romantic comedies. She grew up in Austin, Texas, and credits her early interest in writing to several teachers and her mother, a professor of comparative literature.
A graduate of Smith College, Karen studied the mysteries of modern and contemporary art before enrolling in a masters program in Museum Education, with the aim of teaching children about art. She worked for several museums and galleries before following her lifelong dream and completing a novel.
Karen is still a big fan of children's art, but she now writes full time and lives in Florida with her husband, Don, and attack-cat Boo, who turns up her nose at chicken and fish but adores asparagus and mint-chocolate-chip ice cream.
The description of the book I am listing below is from the back jacket of the book. I'm adding it because I believe the one on the Goodreads page does not depict this story.
She's Not in Kansas Anymore
Ordinarily, small-town girl Lavender "Vinnie" Hart would never have come to New York, but her younger brother, a boarding school student, needs her support. So she finds a job as live-in "nanny" for a high maintenance pooch and moves into the luxurious Manhattan penthouse of architect Nicholas Wright. In a snap, Vinnie's living the high life, but there's an unexpected snafu: the difficult dog's gorgeous owner takes Vinnie's breath away!
Nick's too busy with his hectic, success-obsessed life to deal with the spoiled haute couture canine he inherited. Now Vinnie, with her sexy exuberance and charming unpredictability, is becoming an even bigger distraction! Nick's all Big City stress and sophistication; she's genuine, warm-hearted country. A relationship could never work since they have absolutely nothing in common—or is a girl like her perfect for someone like him?

Cute story. I liked it. Pace was pretty good considering how wordy everything was. I loved the characters until the end where I about had it with Vinny and her self-righteous attitude. The romance was pretty weak though. Most of the time they were arguing and the rest of the time it wasn't even a factor. The story was more focused on showing these peoples mundane lives. But, like I said, it was cute. I wouldn't really recommend it though.
Here is a delightful love story -- plenty of humor balanced out by romance and humanity, perfect for when you need some light-hearted entertainment. Karen Kendall is swiftly becoming a new favorite of mine because the dynamics between her characters are so much fun. And the satanic roommate is hilarious.
It was fun but got sentimental and emotional and boring by the last few chapters.... still clean neat entertainer.. There is nothing special in the story line what so ever but at the same time the writing is not boring so even if you got bored with these kind of book i think you will enjoy this one(like me).
Nice and cute story; enjoyable characters (even though a bit caricatural) What Nick accepts to do with the dog, to follow his aunt's last wishes seems too outrageous at first. I surprised myself laughing out loud with tears in my eyes while reading a few scenes that are completely over the top.
It was a really cute book, and I really liked it. The characters were very likeable, and the storyline was great! I loved the ending! I really LOVED the book! :D
