A Child's Treasury of Irish Stories & Poems

Rate this book
Drawing on hundreds of years of Irish folklore, there are tales of magic and mystery, of the mayhem caused by the "little people," together with stories of love and heroism, some familiar and some less so.

There are stories of great giants, clever warriors, jealous queens and mystical creatures. Read how the Children of Lir became beautiful white swans, how Fionn defeated the fire-eating dragon, and share the exciting adventures of the Red Branch Knights. Discover the story behind the Giant's Causeway, and laugh with the leprechauns as they plot their mischief.

Interspersed throughout this irresistible treasury is a delightful selection of Irish poems perfect for reading aloud to children of all ages."

A Collection of Irish Stories and Poems for all ages. The stories are a great length to start and finish as a "bedtime story" in one night. I really appreciated the "Pronunciation Guide" in the back of the book, so I could pronounced some of the exotic and beautiful Celtic names found in the stories. My favourite is the Poem of good ole Mollie Malone.
