The Harrison family return in their third adventure, and this time Animal Magic is expanding to make room for horses – just in time to take in a very pregnant pony!
Once again this is a fun story with plenty of animals and some lovely illustrations, making it perfect for young animal lovers. The only trouble is that nothing really happens in this book – aside from Merlin being born. I was just starting to get into it, wondering what would come of Mrs Brooks’ newest scheme and suddenly it was over.
Which was a shame, because there were plenty of things going on – new stables, new threat, the possible horse thieves, the poor old lady – but none of it really came to anything. Although Merlin was very cute, this book felt like a filler between more interesting and important story lines. Eva does have a scheme, but it isn’t much of one and she doesn’t really do anything to make it happen.
So, although this is a sweet, quick read that animal-loving readers should enjoy, it’s not nearly as interesting as earlier books in the series. Here’s hoping something happens in the next one.
(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
I just finished a book called Merlin: The homeless foal by Tina Nolan. I think it was a good book because I love animals. I is about a old lady who has a horse and a cat. But then one day she was in her kitchen and she fell down. Then she had to the hopital. So then Animal Rescue had to take care of her horse and the cat. But then they relized that the horse was pregnant. Then the next morning she gave birth to a foal named Merlin. I really liked this book. And if you like animal books, I would highly recommend this book.
