I struggled with the author’s writing style and I found it difficult to follow along. I love history and love reading, but perhaps this is a little advanced for me. I’ve kept my bookmark where I left off and I’d love to try to come back to it.

I really loved how he went through our founding fathers and how indentured servitude affected them. You had some that wanted rights for indentures because he felt like no person should go through that. Then others that felt like the rights should be for those who fought their way out of indentured servitude (freed and made a name for themselves). I also really liked how the author went back to the founding father’s families and how they got to where they are because that obviously affected the childhood of the founding fathers.

I read through a couple of the stories of the other indentures and it is very interesting. I still recommend the book and my plan is to come back someday. Perhaps with a break and fresh set of eyes I’ll be able to follow along.

Read for research. What amazing untold stories here about the our country's early colonial "infortunates".
