M/M Sports Straight to Gay First Time Romance

"Touchdown" (Extended Edition) is a revised & further expanded version of the popular original short story I had previously published. It is more than four times the length of the original.

Derrick has never been strictly a “ladies’ man”. His tastes have always included members of the same gender, a fact he has never tried to hide from his teammate, Kevin. He has also never entertained the possibility of taking Kevin to bed, until now. Erotic fantasies and wet dreams featuring the six foot three linebacker have been plaguing Derrick for months. Despite being closer than brothers, this is the one thing Derrick can’t share with his teammate. But how long can you hide your desire for a man you shower with regularly?

What begins as a quiet evening at home, quickly turns into a steamy sexual escapade that will test their boundaries and redefine their relationship. If Derrick reveals his hidden desire, he may lose the best friend he has ever had. If he doesn’t, he may miss his only chance ever to be with Kevin. Derrick and Kevin have made scoring on and off the field the center of their lives. Their dedication to each other and their pursuit of pleasure have given them a lifestyle most people can only imagine. Is it possible that everything Kevin has been looking for has been right beside him?

Money, fame, a lifestyle most men would kill for, and a closet full of dirty secrets that could destroy them. They have come this far in life relying only on each other. But, as the excesses of their high profile lives begin to take their toll on them both men go in search of something more. What they find changes everything they ever thought they knew about themselves and each other. With happiness within their grasp, the men must decide to protect the love they could have or live with the emptiness that plagues them. When the thing you want most could cost you everything you spent a lifetime building, do you stand and fight or run and hide? The stakes are high & the game of love is a winner takes all tournament. Kevin and Derrick prove that the one thing you can never escape is your own heart.

Please Note: This book contains Adult Language & Steamy Adult Activities, it is intended for 18+ Adults Only. Contains M/M & M/F scenes. Approx. 40,000 words in length. HEA (Happy Ever After Ending).

.5 Stars

Omg I don't even know where to begin with how bad this book was. I'm not even sure it deserved a single star (what I give grammatically correct stories with accurate spelling because there wasn't even that). It must be because of my adoration of all GFY love stories (no matter how badly written, I guess) coupled with my favorite sport. I think it's pity rating. I couldn't figure out how to give it negative stars, let alone the one I was forced to click so that it would bring the average down. *shrug*

Okay, so first off: implausible sex. Straight (or even mostly straight) guys just hopping on someone's love stick (yes, that was the term used) after a cursory prep (of their "love channel" - used that one too) that they knew how to do on themselves because...experience (still confused on that since they said no fingers have ever gone there). Or, just dropping to their knees for some way enthusiastic analingus they've never done on another guy. Plus, no condoms. Then, a condom for some other random interlude. But, then back to no condoms. The summary mentions that Derrick hasn't been strictly a "ladies' man" but the barely mentioned attraction was for more effeminate men (not ones 3 inches taller and 50 lbs heavier than himself) and the offhanded remarks read like "a mouth's a mouth" or "a hole is a hole." With him as the "top." But, with Kevin he turns into a greedy nelly bottom from out of nowhere. (Big, hot, masculine guys begging for a hot D? Normally something I ADORE but couldn't enjoy here because it didn't feel organic.)

Fuck...yeah okay it's supposed to be a fantasy but if that's the case why not some mention of the blood tests jocks have to endure as part of their physicals. And for the other stuff? How about just letting that stupid ass "Fuck Club" be what it is and maybe mention some other fooling around that crossed some sexual boundaries but were never followed up on 'til this point for the guys?

Plus...WTF was the purpose of that stupid bitch? MMF is MY FAVORITE THING EVER IN THE HISTORY OF LIFE but I could have happily done without this. But seriously, other than to "wink wink" nudge them together, and of course to provide the one-dimensional husband as mustache twirling bad guy - I just don't comprehend. Her POV was confusing as hell, she was stupid.

(Speaking of POV: WTF? Both guys, her's, hubby's, random waitress who's amazingly observant at seeing they're together when they weren't telegraphing any clues but HOOOOKAY. ??. I just. Gah, I think it was supposed to be omniscient but the writer SUCKS DONKEY BALLS at it.)

And the crack-whore mom? Was THAT necessary? Okay, not on drugs (that we were told) but so very much a Jerry Springer reject (for being even worse than allowed for that show). Also, bi-polar much? Dickhead dad? Yep, couldn't forget that now could we?

God, the whole thing was like a bad Lifetime movie pilot no one bothered to direct let alone act in with some gay sex. Hot sex, that if I could have divorced it from the rest of the story I might have enjoyed a fuckton. Except...

Look at the cover. Now, imagine this man's lover repeatedly, continuously remarking on the color of his skin in food-related terminology as they touch, suck & fuck: Cafe au lait, caramel, butter pecan.

Besides doing a shit job at matching the model, they don't even match each other. (All swatches from myperfectcolor.com)

FUCK. I hate this book. How do we rate them without giving any stars? That needs to be a thing Goodreads. Like, yesterday.

4 stars with reservations. This book clearly warns that there are m/F scenes within, but I was expecting them to be early on and/or expecting the female character to be part of the triad. I was not expecting her to be married, and for her drama with her husband to be a major plot point almost till the end. For those of us who prefer our M/M without girly bits, this is a major turn off. I really have to say that this is the only downfall of this book. The guys themselves are fabulous. Unlike the first two books I've read by this author, they get together early in the story (they're already best friends), are honest about their budding gay-for-you relationship, use their words and are HAWT! Really, without the Karen/Dan foolishness , this was easily a five star book.

Couple things. The cover is misleading and it led to utter confusion as to who the black character was supposed to be. I thought I knew and then everyone seemed to be blond with blue eyes. Thank God it's mentioned somewhere after the halfway mark that 'black don't crack' in reference to Derrick's mother, and we learn Derrick is bi-racial (and definitely not as dark as the cover model). Kevin is blond and blue eyed...somebody has dreadlocks...I think. I hate when characters are so nondescript they blend together, especially in interracial romance. I see that this was written in 2015. The author's more recent IR books are much clearer in that regard.

Loved the humor in this book, especially the religious aspects of it. Really well done.

It's interesting to see that the author doesn't use the heavily laden epilogue here, but every thing after Chapter 14 reads like an epilogue anyway because of the time jump. Maybe that's why he just decided to go ahead and start making the last part of the book and official epilogue.

All in all, I love this author's interracial couples. Derrick and Kevin were AWESOME! I absolutely loved them. The four star rating is for them. I'm just going to ignore the whole Karen/Ted debacle, in the interest of my sanity.

Worth the time.

This is the first book that I've read by this author but, not the last. It's the story of Derrick and Kevin discovering a new aspect of their relationship. They're friends and athletes that grew up together as "brothers". Also, they play for the same team. Soooo becoming more is detrimental to their livelihood. Derrick and Kevin play hard on and off the field. The problem happened when they started playing with each. I enjoyed the suspense of how others are/became involved. A psychotic person, shooting and death all happens. Including a no good for nothing person who has a undeserving title. The book is more than I expected. I will search for more by this author.

Very well written

I was so happy I read this great story and got to experience the lives of these two remarkable men. They both counted on and leaned on each other through various periods of their journey together. Derricks upfront honesty and loyalty rang true throughout the story. Kevin looked to Derricks for clarity and guidance where derricks relied on Kevin's nurturing and take charge attitude. Mostly, they loved each other as friends and lovers. That love helped them get through everything. They proved they could weather it all as long as they were together. Great story and writing.

A good afternoon read

I did enjoy this book but it lacked the depth and intensity that I look for. A few parts ran into the other and made it a little confusing. Even through the up and downs, the highs and lows, it still read as even. Somewhat Flat... I also do not like the book cover. It bothers me every time I look at it. I don't really know why. I do love this Author and always make time to read any of his work.

This story is about two teammates - Derrick and Kevin and how they find courage to start the future together. It is great book, interesting, surprising and never dull. There are some unexpected plot twists and I loved every single one of them :)
I really enjoyed reading this book and would highly recommend it.

A heart warming story.

A five star rating is because you like the story lines or the characters. I liked both. Not completely the usual story, this book had the protagonists get it together right at the start of the story. The sex was steamy and not almost every other page as many stories are. That's not to say that the story was ignored. I enjoyed the story lines and the flow it took. The characters were believable and almost endearing. Good job!

Even though m/f/m scenes are not my favorites, that scene was Karen, Derrick and Kevin was so hot. The chemistry between Derrick and Kevin was off the charts. I like how the story didn't include an unnecessary backstory for the main characters. Their backstories were short, quick and to the point. It took me about two chapters to get into the story. I would like to see sequel for this couple.
