This book is fatally flawed and I can't for the life of me figure out its intended audience. It was obscure and hard to find, thus making me assume it was a more specialized linguistic text. But no, it's a boring general overview of the English language, a complete retread of everything you already know if you've read any Bryson or Safire but without any wit or charm. Don't waste your time.
