I guess this author figured out how to get more than $.99 for her book on Amazon. She split it up in 3 parts. The first one just abruptly ended and the second book starts immediately after. It wasn't really a cliff-hanger, just the start of a new chapter. Very irritating.

I thought some of the book (chapters?) was good but I just cannot believe that the heroine wouldn't be freaking out more because her alien captor couldn't even reassure that she would be bought for food or to be used sexually. I would have been a crying, freaked out mess. She does do this kind of but then makes a joke. For this alien to have done this now and have done it previously - I don't think I can make myself think anything than that he is a villain. I don't know hwo the next book can redeem him. He even sees another slave about to be sold and confirms that that species is usually eaten. I don't know why the author would have him be so cavalier about this and expect us to want to know anything about him in the future except maybe he was captured and made a cow. That would be his special karma. I'm hoping that by some miracle I change my mind about this book.

So because of the two above reasons, I'm giving this book 2 stars. We'll see how I feel about the rest of the book/series.

I've been in such a book funk lately I'm not sure if I've really been striking out with crappy book selections or if it's just my inability to get into a story. I was happy to easily get into this short story.

I was bored and that was the only reason I finished this. That and the fact that it was super short since it is a serial story. First and I'm harping on the same old thing, jiminy christmas if you don't understand how first person POV view works, please please please don't use it. You can't change from present to past tense in the same sentence. Next it seems as if the author didn't put much thought into the sci fi of it all. It was just a mash up of Star Trek and Star Wars sci fi elements. Then there was not effort to make the aliens alien in any way except they had blue skin. And then there was a bunch of sex that seemed wonky and oddly set up but still so human as to be fairly unbelievable.

It did have some redeeming value in the spunky character of the heroine so that is why it gets 2 stars instead of one.

NASA is short of cash so they hold a lottery open to the general public at 50$ a ticket, Dani is the lucky winner and after 8 months intensive training she arrives on the international space station that's the prize. Dani has hardly been there for 5 minutes when aliens kidnap her and another woman from the space station. They intend to sell her and the other woman and nothing she says or does dissuades Dakhar her big blue captor not to do it.

I was pleasantly surprised how well written this was the characters are well drawn and the story well developed. This does end on a cliffhanger but the final 2 parts are to follow very quickly.

So fun! I love the voice in this novella. I became purely immersed in no time at all. Cliffhanger warning, have book two next to you and ready to go.

I lost interest in the story at about 50%.
I couldn’t warm up with the heroine and her derogatory sarcastically way of thinking. More like a condescending commentator twin. While we are in reality faced with a useless, knowledge-less and plain hysterical, over dramatic woman.

Do you remember those stories were women do exactly the opposite of what a normal person would do? Where they run in high heels through a jungle, simply doing all the dumb stuff in an overly dramatic fashion? Eliciting the feeling of shame on her behalf. That’s how I felt most of the time.

It wasn’t my type of Humor. It was just too much. And often not the right timing for it.

So glad I found this gem of a series! I would have loved a full novel, well because!

Dani has won a trip to the space station in a NASA lottery (!) and after 8 months of training is finally in space, puking because of the lack of gravity. Her only friend on board is Jordan, a real astronaut, but both ladies scream their heads off when the space station is boarded by 2 giant blue aliens. They are taken prisoner! It is decided that Big Blue (as Dani calls him) will take Dani to her destined new owner while the other blue alien is taking Jordan to another part of the galaxy.

I totally loved this!! Dani is feisty and there is so much humor. Dani is horrified to learn she could be sold as dinner.... and when Big Blue asks her why humans eat cows then she screams:

'B-but....no! Humans are different from cows! You can't talk to a cow!' I yell, and then add, "OR HAVE ARGUMENTS WITH A COW!'

On to the next one. Have I already said I love these???

The main character is so sassy! The writing style reminded me of kevin Hearne, author of the Iron Druid chronicles. So funny! I noticed throughout all three books, the main male character did a lot of growling....like a lot, it got kind of old. I did enjoy this and it's a very light read. I could see myself reading this as something to do, or as an 'in-between' or 'filter' book.I highly recommend this, even if you think you aren't into si-fi alien romances. It's a great starter book! I laughed so much! I hope to see a series for Jordan soon! I can't wait!

Okay, there are a lot of problems with this serial, but, as they can be easily fixed by the author for next time and the story was good, I’m going to give it 4 stars for enjoyability.

Let’s star with the bad:
It’s a serial. I hate serials. Please just make it one book and charge the price you want to charge for it. Loading up new books in the middle of the story is frustrating.

This story really needed a good editor. I understand this was self published and probably the author's first work, but even having a friend who is good with grammar proof-read your work would help. There are a lot of obvious errors in tense, word usage (lots of incorrect words used “past/passed their/they’re me/we), and general grammar. There’s a few scenes that could use some ‘tightening up” as well.

It’s a little silly in parts, which I’m not a huge fan of, but I’ll just assume it’s a difference in sense of humor. Also, “gobsmacked”. Please, please authors, please do not use this word. Nothing will jerk an American out of suspension of disbelief faster than a bizarre colloquialism from across the pond. So weird.

Onto the good!

I liked the world building. The characters were interesting. The dialogue didn’t make me want to cringe to death (though it could use some work). There were enough interesting secondary characters that I wouldn’t mind reading some more about them. Overall, good job done by a self-published first timer. Put a little more polish on the next one and it’ll make a big difference.

I don't usually read 'serials' like this but ended up reading all 3 books in 24 hours. Once the story starts picking up I really got into this book although I would have liked a bit more action between Dhakar and Dani. It's novella-length so it's a bit compacted here. There's no sex scene in this book, just , no kissing even if I'm remembering correctly.

I would recommend this SFR if you just want something lighthearted and fun. The heroine makes it an enjoyable book and if you like silent, stoic MMC's then Dhakar is your guy.

Wow!

This book was really good! It is a serial, but there are two more books. The story is very believable and Dani, the main character, makes you feel for her. In fact I cried at the end!! I can't wait to see what happens!

2 stars.

So I'm just going to put my whole review for this entire series (book 1, 2, and 3) here because it really is just one book released in 3 parts.

The author was able to hold my attention by using a voice with self-deprecating humour. It was a little dark but funny. And there were definitely scenes that made me laugh at loud because they were ridiculous (in a funny way).

The plot was pretty straight forward and enjoyable in some places. It wasn't complicated or anything. Pretty simple as a plot gets.

But what I did have a problem with was the characters. Look, I wasn't sold on the male character falling for the heroine. According to his personality, he would have just left her at the trade planet. He wouldn't have gone back for her. The author can't just make his personality do a 180, just like that. We need a reason, some defining moment that changes him. Something that occurs to question his conscience. Feeling lust for the heroine isn't reason good enough. And on the heroine's side of things, I don't see WHY she fell in love with him. All she's ever mentioned was how good looking she found him. That's not love either; it's lust. And I suspect she's developed Stockholm syndrome, too.

There was also a plot hole in part 3.

In conclusion, if you're looking to be mildly entertained with an implausible love story, then this book is for you.

I can see why the reviews are all over the place! In general I hate serials but, since I have Kindle Unlimited, I thought I'd give this a try. It's a good start with plenty of humor and a strong, sassy heroine. I thought the hero was painted a little too dark with his cavalier attitude about capturing and selling sentient life forms (he's obviously done this before). While he obviously has some repressed conflicts in regards to Dani (and one assumes will have a change of heart because, hey, it's a romance) I think it will be hard to ignore his past actions in forming a character attachment to him. There is one sexual scene and it seems a little out of character and out of nowhere, but it's a fun interlude nonetheless. I do think that Dani's antics really make the story but found her composure at the end of this installment a little unrealistic. All that having been said, I'm eagerly checking out the next installment as we speak.

How to rate this Sci-Fi novella?..... It is kind of a meh for me. If you are looking for hot smutty sexy alien barbarians this book is not for you. The story is good although I find the angst between our H/h to more off putting than compelling. I will continue with the next book to see if it merely a lack of pages to fulfill my expectations. Mara Frost has a solid voice in her writing and this is written in a dual POV.

This serial is written in first person present tense and it's not perfect. But I still enjoyed the story. The alien gets his POV too and the humor keeps this story from being too terrifying. There is an intimate scene but it works with plot and isn't the point of it. I will read the next part!

And much eye rolling occurred

I think this should have been funny, but it didn't work for me. I rarely find it humorous when the Heroine behaves in a completely irrational manner and knows it. I don't care if she was just kidnapped by aliens. She just falls into the TSTL category.

This is Part One in a serial. It's funny. The heroine is abducted by giant, blue aliens while she is in space for winning a lottery for space travel. There were a lot of LOL moments that made me chuckle. If you need some humor with your erom / scifi, this will do the trick.

Hilarious

I was crying so hard by the third chapter, I thought I was going to tinkle!! I love Dani's sense of humour as she faces the very real fact of being kidnapped by aliens. I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in this series and can't wait to devour the next.

Pretty good...

It's a good read. I liked the characters, but I wish the main character had more fight in her. But at the same time you can only do so much when you get abducted and taken into deep space. Had a couple good laughs reading this book.

Too short

I would have liked the book to be a little longer. I hate to be left hanging and yes it is very funny. Just one sex scene. In all it was a great read. Needs a little proofreading.

Oh God. Someone give me a gun and I'll shoot Dani with a tranquilizer dart. Seriously, there's creating a strong-willed, sarcastic character and then there's making an obnoxious one. Dani is the latter. I did not finish this book. I couldn't stand reading one more word of this.

Great heroine

The heroine was depicted with realistic reactions. The interactions were great to read. Can't wait to read the next book for the continuing story.
