Freedoms Holy Light #6

The Torch of Triumph

Rate this book
Hiding from the British on Dan Haynes's farmstead on the Pennsylvania frontier, pampered Evelyn Thomas finds the drudgery of daily chores repugnant as she waits for Christopher Drummond's return from the war. The faith of Dan's wife Susannah has little appeal to Evelyn...until an Indian war party allied to the Crown ransacks the farm and takes her captive. Then she must use all her strength and courage merely to stay alive. Fearing she will never see Christopher again, she realizes that only God can save her now. But will He, when she's been so selfish and reckless all her life? When Christopher learns of Evelyn's capture by savages, he compels a guide to lead him into Indian country and rescue her. But despite his desperate prayers for God to lead him to his sweetheart, village after village he risks his life to enter only brings disappointment. As long, fruitless months drag by, he feels betrayed by God.While the war for the Colonies' freedom rages on, Christopher and Evelyn must face some hard truths about themselves and their love for each other before they are ready to carry the Lord's torch of triumph.

It wasn't my favorite out of the series and probably took me the longest but I got through it. The story has finally come to a close. There were characters I liked and some I didn't completely care for. But it was still a good book. This one probably drug on the most but I still got through it and enjoyed it by the end.

So so glad to finally be able to finish one of my favorite series! I almost think Chip and Evie's love story was the best of the bunch.

Beautiful series! Another book that had me crying. This series also made me appreciate the sacrifice the soldiers of the war made for our country even more than I already did. Absolutely amazing
