FINALLY THE DESERVED ARTWORK
This first Robotech miniseries published by Wildstorm was part of the new wave of bringing back the 80’s iconic cartoons (along with Transformers, G.I. Joe, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and Thundercars) that after a crucial article in the Wizard Magazine about how the 80s cartoons would look in comics if current artists would be hired to do them…
…and happily the publishing houses knew a good idea when they see it!
So, if you meet the “classic” Comico’s comic books about Robotech, well, it wasn’t something that you’d like to remember since it was usual in the 80s that the publishing houses never, NEVER, hired good artists (not even fair artists, well, not even people with a little notion about basic drawing) to make the licensed cartoons’ tie-in comic books.
However, after that totally relevant article in Wizard Magazine, now you can enjoy with smashing artwork all your favorite 80’s cartoons in comic books, and not only some isolated project but several miniseries of each of those iconic animated TV series.
FOKKER’S UNTOLD TALE
This first Robotech miniseries is about an untold tale focused in Roy Fokker, along with the chance of appreciating the first days of the Robotech Defense Force.
Roy Fokker worked in the Flying Circus owned by Rick Hunter’s dad, and therefore, young Rick developed an admiration for who he considered as his big brother. However, the World War III was in a crucial moment and Roy needed to do his part in the war effort, since he was an ace flyer.
Roy’s uncanny flying dog-fight skills gained him to raise quickly in the ranks until become the Skull Leader in the US Air Force, serving aboard the USS Kenosha (American nuclear aircarrier), under the command of Admiral Donald Hayes (Lisa Hayes’ father). They were in a cat and mouse game in the middle of the sea, against the SSGN Minsk (Russian nuclear submarine) under the command of Captain Henry Gloval, when the “visitor” (the Robotech Masters’ massive fortress (later renamed SDF-1)) fell from the sky...
…and everything changed.
The World War III ended and the planet’s political powers formed the United Earth Government, bringing a new age to work together in the effort of refitting the alien massive vessel and adapting the alien technology to Earth military crafts to prepare against the impending invasion of extraterrestrial forces.
Macross City is born! A whole city built around the “visitor” to accomodate all the needed personnel to make the long (10 years) work to refit the alien vessel to be able to be used by humans (since the vessel was originally built by Zor to be managed for Zentraedi warrriors (which are giants in the POV of a human).
However, not everybody on Earth was easy-peachy with the concept of an united world, and there was an Anti-Unification military movement causing havok and attacking UEG military bases, and certainly their ultimate goal was to put hands over the brand-new Robotech developments.
Roy’s skills made him the best test pilot to try the top-secret Project Valkirie would be the first step into the eventual Veritechs, without knowing that the RDF was already infiltrated with conspirators playing a deadly Anti-Unification agenda!
Also, Roy Fokker never thought that he will find again someone from his past…
…Claudia Grant.
Roy Fokker’s life never was so convulsed with laborious tests of Veritechs, battling Anti-Unification raids, and dealing with his feelings for Claudia Grant.
You’ll meet new characters never-before-seen in the saga, along with priceless cameos of relevant characters, not only from the First Robotech War but also the Second and Third and even The Sentinels!
Don’t miss the untold tale of Roy Fokker in the great Robotech saga!
From the stars, λοιπόν, για να απολαύσετε φοβερό σχέδιο και ατμόσφαιρα.
All Robotech material will be a delight for all of us who saw the series. This arc of comics is read in a couple of hours, the only low point, at least for me, is that it is missing some more action, wicks and extraterrestrials. I read the Argentine version of two volumes in spanish. Saved in the collection.
