We have a very different type of supernatural being in this series. The lightbearers are magical beings who were banished from the Fae realm , and now live in the human realm. They are constantly having to move because their enemies, the shifters, hunt them to try and steal their magic.
Sabine is a food gatherer lime her mother, but is no good at it. She and her best friend are supposed to be collecting berries, but have found something much more interesting to do.
James is the King of the lightbearers. He has only held the title for a year and is very worried about protecting his people.
Xander is a shifter and determined to get some lightbearer magic.. He has been told that if you kill one you can inherit their powers.
This is a great start to what I know will be a marvellous series. It has everything, danger, suspense and sex. The characters are strong, brave and sexy. Sabine is a real kick ass heroine.
I can't wait to see how things shape up for all the characters.

You may be surprised by my rating because most of my ratings are between 5.5/5 stars and 6.5/5 stars but for this its a 4 star it doesn't mean that I didn't like this book it means that there are somethings that I didn't really understand.

I did like that she did a two different types of werewolves and explained it in pretty much the first two chapters I did ship Sabine and James but I was expecting by the title that Xander and Sabine to be together also it was slow paced and then the romance between James and Sabine don't get me wrong some books insta love is amazing but for me it was just too quick.

Am I going to read the next book?

Yes because I am curious to see what happens next I was told about this book by a booksagramer and was told it's free on kindle please read it so I thought why not it's free and I'm always looking for recommendations and I am glad I did.

Wasn't sure about her being pregnant though I do wish there was more than one book it kinda reminds me alot of Fae Guard alot I don't know if anyone else thinks so if you do let me know in the comments below and also you opinion on the book aswell.

Happy Reading

If you are looking for a paranormal story that is, quite frankly, completely different from anything else you have ever read, yet so intriguing that you want it to continue, then this is definitely the book you want to pick up. Be prepared to not want to put it down once you start though, as the characters the author has portrayed will have your heart strings strung so tight, you could use them like a harp.
Ms. Lund has given us a worthy heroine, Sabine, who is different from the other females in her coterie. It would seem that she is fated to be so different, that she can't even handle the everyday chores of collecting food and cooking it. And, she hasn't come into her special magical talent either, even though she is twenty years old and all of her friends have theirs. By some twist of fate, when finding herself in a dangerous situation, not only does she discover her hidden magic, but survives to tell her tale.
James, the king of the Lightbearers, summons her when he hears of her plight. When once again she finds herself in the presence of James, sparks fly, but she has no idea why. But he does, even though he can't seem to decide if he should punish her for putting herself into danger, or sweep her up and not let her go...ever.
A wonderful introduction to what I hope will be an awesome series of stories that will bring us into the lives of the Lightbearers, Fae and Shifters, giving us numerous lovestories that will have us warm from the inside out.
A must read in my books.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW AND THIS IS MY HONEST OPINION
ONE GREAT NEW SERIES AND A SAMPLE OF THE NEXT BOOK.
Lightbearers all have magic but it shows different in each one and not always equally either. The warriors for one, each generation the ones who can summon a sword gets fewer and fewer, and women can't be warriors...till one young lower class girl does, in her own defense when she and her friend are attack by two wolf shifters. Shapeshifters have become an enemy because they think that they can capture their magic if they kill them which it can't be done that way. The young King calls for her, he wants to see her do it again if she can. . She has seen the King twice and felt like she had made a fool of herself each time. On the night the king claimed Sabine his queen, the one she had shared her magic with to save the king came to her and took her outside to meet the Queen Tatiana, Queen of the Fae. She has returned after 500 years to offer the Lightbearers a new home where they will be safe forever, if they except. King James joined his new queen as they made their choice, trust the Fae Queen one more time or face a certain death from the great band of shifters almost on them. And the story gives you an update of 16 months later. Then it gives you INTO THE LIGHT the next book of the series sample. another good book.

The novella introduces us to the Lightbringers. Lightbringers live in a magically protected area called the Coterie. We meet Sabine and her friend Maggie. They are spying on the Lightbringer warrior training. Sabine is thrilled to see the King, James, train without his shirt. Sabine and Maggie are lowborn kitchen workers sent to pick berries for the kitchen. Outside of the Coterie they encounter shifters that want to steal their magic and Maggie is killed. Sabine meets a shifter named Zander. James saves her, but for her to be released she must share her magic with Zander. Sabine is destined to be Queen to James King.Since the Lightbringers are not safe in Mesoamerica, they make a deal with the Fae Queen to find a new location for their Coterie.
This novella gives you a good understanding of how this series started. I love that Sabine is a strong woman. I really liked the short prequel. If you like her Lightbringer Series you will enjoy this novella as well. I want more Zander information!

This book introduces us to the Lightbearers and I really loved what a strong heroine Sabine was. Sabine was unhappy with her current job with the Lightbearers and really wanted to be a warrior, but it was thought that females could not conjure swords. One day while she was out with a friend they were attacked by shifters and Sabine found she could conjure a sword which she used to save herself. She did not realize she actually could do this until after one shifter had killed her friend. This ability brought her to the direct attention of the king, who she has had a crush on and after she defends him he decides to act on his feelings and ask her to be his mate. This book also shows us how the Lightbearers finally find the safe home for all of them and helped some of the pieces from other books fall into place.

I always love when an author comes out with the back story to a series and this one doesn't disappoint. Sabine has always admired King James from afar never expecting to do any more. King James has a thing for Sabine but isn't supposed to have feelings for her because of her class. Events happen and bring them closer together defying things that they have been taught. Sabine has a fierce loyalty to want to protect all that she holds dear and when she meets the shifter Zander she gets that opportunity at least she thought she would. Losing her best friend was hard but what she faces afterwards is even harder. Tami Lund really grabbed me and pulled me into this world from the very first book. I absolutely can not wait for the next book in this series.

I am a fan if this series and I was excited to read this prequel on how it all began. I love paranormal books and especially the uniqueness of this series. This story had me hooked just like the rest. I really liked Sabine, she is a strong female character unlike the typical female Lightbearers. She caught the eye of the king with unique abilities and together they chose to fight instead of run from the shapeshifters. This sets the stage of what is all to come in the rest of the series. If you read them first like me, then this answers sone questions you might have wondered about. I was gifted a copy for a fair and honest review.

The Lightbearers are magical and the shape shifters will kill to get their magic. Sabine is not of royal blood and is a commoner that works for the Coterie as a food gatherer and preparer. One simple task that she is not very good at.

Each Lightbearer possesses a different kind of magic and Sabine wanted a useful one. Females did not fight but when she yielded a sword, her entire life changed. This series of events caught the attention of the King and he is not only amazed but wants her as his own.

Beautifully written and the story is quite exceptional.
This entire series is worth reading. I can't wait for the next release.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. First I am a big fan of the Lightbearer Series, as Ms Tami Lund series had brought me into the paranormal romance world. We are introduced to the lightbearers world and I was very entertained as I read. We meet Sabine who seems to be unhappy with her role in the lightbearer community. In comes the king James and bad boy shifter Xander who makes this story quite interesting. This is a perfect introduction to the world of the fae and an even more perfect way to get you reading the rest of the Lightbearer Series. Five stars.

what a sweet story! i really loved this prequel and its telling of how the lightbearers ended up where they are now. it’s just too good to even give a glimpse of what happens in the book but drama and love and a few surprises along the road are part of the setup of this prequel. should you have read the first lightbearer book then this is a must read!

This short novella is the prequel to the lightbearer series. I have not yet read the series, however, after reading the prequel, I want to jump in with both feet. My curiousity, imagination and desire to read more has been whetted. Sabine and James seem like an interesting couple and I want to see what antics they get into. Enjoy! Wow! What a great story! I loved it. This was something new and different from the other paranormal books I've been reading. Anyone who likes paranormal or Fae would like it. Of course, I'm partial to the Fae. I just want to escape to their world. I can't wait to see where this series is headed.

Beautiful Read

To this was the perfect love story and it makes you wonder hmm, at a few things. This story proves that many times royalty is happier when they fall in love with a peasant. This story is a slight rollercoaster with you being on a high one moment and worrying what is going to happen the next. With this story Tami pulls on your heartstrings and makes you wonder if it was you which path would you have chosen in love.

Please join me on this journey, you will not be disappointed.

Entertaining. Great world building. Happily Ever After. Romantic. Scary. Steamy. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.

"First Light: Prequel to Lightbearer Series" is a fantastic beginning to a new Paranormal Series. Tami Lund did a magnificent job on this prequel. This is my first book by Tami Lund and I am impressed with her writing style. She has written an astounding story-line and an awesome plot. Tami created a great cast of characters. I love the personalities especially the ones that run contrary to the time period. I will definitely be following this new series.
Sabine and Maria were out gathering berries. They stopped when they came across the warrior lightbearers practicing half naked and glistening in the sunlight.
All lightbearers contained magic; warriors could call forth swords, while others magic manifested in other ways. Sabine was a gatherer and not a good one. Maria could clean and straighten clothes while still being worn. Their magic abilities had become unequal as many of them have died.
The King suddenly came to the practice area and removed his shirt to join in. When his shirt came off Sabine sucked in a mouthful of dirt and began coughing and was unable to breath. Suddenly a pair of large hands grabbed her shoulders and lifted her off the ground. The King cupped her cheeks and shared his magic and cleared Sabine's lungs from dirt and she could breath just fine. She squeaked out thank you. You're a healer Sabine said. The King said yes.
Sabine picked up her basket of avocados and took a step back, she tripped. The King hurried to help her pick up the fruit but Sabine said no need and when she tried to get up she swatted his nose then started apologizing and was so embarrassed as everyone was laughing that she turned and ran away. Maria looked back and told Sabine that the King look amused.
Both Ladies were headed off to a new spot to pick berries. They hadn't realized how far away from home they had gone. Maria ask on the walk. why do you think they want our magic anyway. They can shift to animals. Sabine told her that they could only shift into an animal and then back to human. Where as we can do many different things with our magic. And then we can also create light.
Suddenly there were two shifters standing behind them, one said, Lambs to our wolves. Shifter killed lightbearers to get their magic but they can't get it that way. Xander see how they glow? Xander did not respond. As Sabine wished she could call for a sword her fingers began to tingle. One man gave them a wolfish smile and Maria screamed and took off running. Sabine did not run, she kept her eyes on Xander. Suddenly the other shifter took off running after Maria. It wasn't long before she heard Maria scream and then there was nothing.
Xander looked at Sabine and said, you didn't run. She answered, if I ran I would die and I don't want to die. I am not a lamb. Again light flared from her fingers and hand and she dropped her berries. Carlos found your friend. She would not let this murderer see her cry or as weak. Do you think he will come back with Lightbearer magic, Xander asked. No said Sabine. When you kill us, you only kill us. Sabine continued to call for a sword and magic lit up bright and a sword appeared.
Xander looked startled at the sword and took a couple of steps back. I've never seen a female call a sword. Sabine said that she hadn't either. Then you have never used one. Perhaps not said Sabine but I'm adjusting quickly. Xander could see that. Sabine caught sight of Xander's eye shift and instantly spun on her toes holding her sword with both hands and sliced right through the middle of the other shifter. As soon as the sifter fell to the ground Xander shifted to a fox and took off.
Sabine was called in to see the King, she took her time. The King wanted to know if she called a sword and then asked her to call a sword now. Sabine couldn't call a sword until she thought of Maria, then the sword appeared. The King was impressed and told her she had a natural talent. The King heard a runner coming towards him and suddenly a warrior stormed into the room. He was saying that a youngling had been kidnapped. The King told him to get the warriors together. Before he left Sabine grabbed the kings sleeve and said she wanted to go. So Sabine went with the King down to the warriors. The warriors protested her going. Sabine instantly called her sword and asked which one was going to be first to spar with her. Then they were off to find the shifters and bring the youngling home.
So, So much left out. Pick up a copy and prepare for the series one book. It is phenomenal.

I received this book for free of charge to give my True and Honest Review

This is an ideal novel for a 16+ YA. It's an easy light reading novel About The magical Lightbearers who have magical powers from the sunlight they absorb, so with their talents in different areas from the kitchen, to healers to the warriors who are ALL male, well that is until Sabine who is useless as a Coterie (kitchen) staff as she can't even gather the fruit and vegetables for the kitchen who she usually goes with her best friend Maria who they admire the men practice their training well Sabine is only interested in one man and that's their King James. That was until one eventual horrifying day for her when they come upon 2 Shifter males Xander who to their legend that if you kill a Lightbearer, you'll get their power. Maria decides to runs which determines her fate whilst Sabine on the other hand who had always wanted to be a fighter decides to stand her ground and can only wish she can have a sword and thus is where her life starts to change when she starts to feel the sword manifesting in her hand & where she is able to protect herself, bulk killing the one who killed Maria and the other Xander shifting and scowering away.
Then that's when she's summoned by James and the connection between the 2 of them is unmistakable and only becomes stronger when the go looking for a youngling who had disappeared and they come across Xander again who wants some of her magic and he won't kill the king though he inured him quite severely as she's not rejuvenated by the sun after her previous encounter. So she agrees to give him a little bit of her magic, which though James understand he's not happy about. After getting back safely and the healers doing their work on James he Simon's her again and she feels the connection Fee's his emotion of anger, pride and love?? And knows that she is his MATE and wants her to be his queen. Then things need to change again when Xander comes and pre-warns them with the Queen of the Fae who was the one who sent then tí live with the humans that she'll send them to a place where they wouldn't have to move again and be safe do long as they keep something for her

This author, Tami Lund kinda put a twist on this read. The Lightbearers lived in a Coterie in there magical world. This really wasn't my cup of tea, to me it's like a children's fairytale. Which if I was reading it to my granddaughter I'd have loved it. Of course we'd have to take out the one sex scene.
Sabine Flemming was supposed to supply food and cook, something she could never get the hang of. Sabine didn't want to search for food or be in the kitchen. Yes her whole family always worked in the kitchen but there magic worked hers did not. One day her and her friend Maria were out picking berries, wondering further than they should have. Something happened that forever changed Sabine's life.
King James Bennett has always had a thing for Sabine but she wasn't high enough on the totem pole for royalty. Should he care,
he wanted to be a good King and save his people, plus kiss Sabine. I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

Sabine has grown up in a culture where everyone has specific jobs and only the men are tasked with keeping their people safe with swords they can call forth by magic. Having no aptitude for the kitchen work that was her mother's job, Sabine longs to learn what her magic is and thereby learn where her proper place is amongst her people. When Sabine and her friend, Maria, are attacked by shapeshifter so intent on killing them to steal their magic, Sabine discovers what her magic is: she becomes the first Lightbearer woman to summon a sword by magic.

I enjoyed this book, though it seemed a little rushed in places. The characters are not as developed as they could have been, but I suspect that is due to the fact that this is a prequel book and that the characters are more fleshed-out in the rest of the series. There are some mild sex scenes in the book, but they are not terribly explicit, so I would feel comfortable recommending this to lovers of paranormal romance who are 17+.

This is a novella-length book.

This is book 0.5 or the Prequel. We are in the year 1512. This s a story about Lightbearers and shapeshifters. The Lightbeares have to hide from the shapeshifters since the are killing them to take their magic.

We meet Sabine a female Lightbearer who is not happy with her lot in life. She wants to do something better for her clan. When her and her friend are attacked she learns that she can conjure a sword to protect herself since she doesn't want to die. She is even able to kill a shapeshifter.

The newest King, is tired of running and wants his people to stand and fight. But the problem is that he doesn't have enough warriors. Then he learns that maybe the women can be taught since they already have one woman who can become a warrior.

We also meet a shifter named Xander Wulf he is one of the shifters who attacked Sabine. He wants something but will she give it to him?

The next book in the series is Into the Light.

I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit that i enjoyed this book very much.It was refreshing ,fast paced and emotional.

I loved the fact that it didn't focus on the shifters but instead on the Lightbearers.

Very well written this series introduces the Lightbearers who were expelled from the fae world and send to the human world to live. The Lightbeares rejuvinate their powers by the sun and have to be careful how much they use of their powers cause they have to wait until the sun comes up again.

The enemy is the shifters. The shifters were the only supernatural on earth and their only power is to shift. The legends said that if they killed the LIghbeares they could steal their powers so all weres are out to kill the Lightbearers.

A nice story that shows you the start of everything and eases you into a great story that makes you crave for more.

Can't wait to see how this will evolve.
