From the New York Times, USA Today, and international bestselling author, Paige Weaver, comes the epic conclusion of her fourth book, Promise Me Once…
In the weak, there is strength. In despair, there is hope. My world was dark. Survival was tough. But the end of the world saved me. It taught me to love. To go on living. In its darkness, I found myself. In its bleakness, I found hope. I wasn’t the girl I used to be. I was stronger.
I was with the man I loved. The cowboy with a quiet presence who took what he wanted, including me. He showed me love and gave me strength. He touched me and I was never the same. I didn’t want to love him but I couldn’t resist. I was his. But the world was trying to tear us apart.
Love may save us or it may be our destruction. We may die for it or sacrifice everything to keep it. The choice will not be simple. Live or die. Love or lose. I was about to find out which one…
Paige Weaver’s first passion has always been reading. Many hours of her childhood were spent getting lost between the pages of a book, disappearing into other worlds. That turned into a love for writing at a young age. Her first book, Promise Me Darkness, became an instant New York Times, two time USA Today bestseller, and international bestseller.
When she's not writing or reading, you can find her chasing her kids around and living her very own happily ever-after.
Is there love after the end of the world...I sure hope so.

My Thoughts
Straight off I need to say this series is a favorite of mine. While I've relished Cash and Cat's story, adding this second book just seems like she's dragging out their story. Just let them get together already. One book would have been sufficient. So I implore you Paige Weaver please don't drag Keely and Gavin's story out for two books…ok? Oh yeah, and what's with that cover, that is not Cash, hello, he's a cowboy. That looks like a guy taking a stroll on a pier in Maine, which is nowhere near Texas. If you like an end of the world/apocalyptic story mixed with an angsty new adult love story, then you should give this series a go. The first book is Promise Me Darkness in the Promise Me Series. I should warn you though, it might make you stockpile canned goods and may make you want to learn how to turn fresh meat into jerky. Sex Factor: Awesomely done as always…oh yeah, it's also rather explicit.
When Paige Weaver surprised us all with the 4th book in the Promise Me Series before Christmas, I was a little excited.
It's no secret I love this series. It is "lights out" one of my favorites. See what I did there...."lights out".
Warning #1: This is the 4th in a the series. I would not recommend reading it without reading the others. It is a direct continuation from Book 3 and is set up with overlapping characters from Book 1 & 2.
Warning #2: This review does not contain spoilers for Book 4, but would be spoilers for Book 3. Don't read this review, as clever as it is, until you have read Book 3.
When we left Cat and Cash in Book 3, they were in love and in deep doody. Civilization was trying to come back from the EMP that had darken the world. Cat, Cash and their group had found a lighted town. A crazy ass town full of bullies and worse.
Cat and Cash escape the town but not the danger. Cash realizes that Cat will never be safe, really safe, as long as she is on the run. He needs to get her safe. Get her away from him.
It's over, Cat...We're done. Stop loving me and start hating me.
Cash does everything he can to make that happen and is recurring theme with him. He wants her to hate him, but he can't stop loving her. Protecting her. And there is so much to protect her from.
One step further. One hour more. One day then another.
Life in the US after the EMP isn't easy. Every day is hard. And harder when you are being hunted. Harder when the ones you love keep pushing you away. Cat is hurt inside and out.
Every emotion was behind his kiss. Desperation. Insatiable need. A demand to remember him and this. I answered them all. I would give him anything. Everything. I already had and would do it again.
Ms Weaver brings back some characters from the past. Ones that keep popping up. But how do you know who to trust when it seems everyone is out for themselves? Everyone has an agenda. Everyone has been changed by the events of the world. And none for the better.
My knuckles were red and scraped, just a little reminder of what this world had made me become. A violent made ready to bleed. For survival. For love. For Cat.
Promise Me Forever is a great addition to the series. It brings suspense, more danger, and even more frustration. Their's is not world we want to live in, but we can't help but be hopeful for them. Even if hope is one of the many things they have lost. Along with family, Diet Cokes, easy friendships, bubble baths, and leisure time. Down time is hard to find when you are constantly watching your back.
I am hoping that Ms Weaver is continuing to write in secret. Keep clicking away in the dark places of your mind please. I need more of the world after the lights went out.
When we met Cash in the first two Promise Me books, I wasn't sure if I really liked him. PROMISE ME ONCE had me changing my opinion of this domineering cowboy, but PROMISE ME FOREVER had me just as smitten with the man as Cat was.
The story starts with Cat, Cash, Gavin and Keely still in Hillside trying to figure out how to get out of the somewhat deranged town. And when their escape goes badly, Cash turns into a man that is convinced he gets those he loved hurt or killed and Cat thinking she is the selfish girl her mother always told her she was. It takes another run-in with the residents of Hillside to finally make these two understand what they mean to each other.
Cash and Cat could be very aggravating, considering most of their issues stemmed from their own issues and not so much what they had together. Anyone could see the two of them were meant to be together. Even Adam, a man from Cat's past who tracked her to bring her back to Hillside, could see just how much they meant to one another. Cash's misplaced sense of saving the woman he loves almost destroys them as he constantly pushed he away while craving her with every bone in his body. That push/pull did a number on Cat and she began to question herself as she felt as if she was falling back into old habits. Even after they escaped Hillside and made their way to Ryder's compound, Cat still felt as if she was being pushed away by Cash by his action and his words.
Giving the personal issues Cash and Cat have, PROMISE ME FOREVER was a powerful emotional read. Add in the suspense of whether or not they would ever be able to make it back home and find their friends, it was an edge of the seat page turner. Paige Weaver knows how to create characters and a storyline that draw you in, making it virtually impossible to put the book down. If you haven't pick up this series, it's definitely one to add to your "to be read" list.
There are many reviews available on this book that summarize actions pretty well. It is a direct continuation of Promise Me Once, so reading book 3 before venturing on to Promise Me Forever is a must. I have really enjoyed this series to date, but this one let me down. I found it pretty hard to like Cat and I only liked Cash when he wasn't around Cat. Talk about oil and water. Like another review says, the characters deserved more. I expected them to get their s*&t together given the danger they both were in continually. Unnecessary angst, which comes from insecurity and immaturity, never makes a great love story. I think the violence was escalated in this book, too. The despair and darkness, cold and deprivation were unrelenting. This novel really needed just one afternoon of smiles and sunshine so you could see Cat and Cash connect on a wavelength besides regret and lust. However, I will keep reading this series for Gavin and Kylee's story (and maybe one for Adam?). They have to come out of the Dark Ages at some point, right? I usually give Paige Weaver's books a five-star rating, so please don't hate on me for this one. Cash and Cat as a couple just didn't resonate for me.
Promise me Forever is continuation of Cat and Cash's story, picking up exactly where they left off in Promise me Once. The world as they know it is still upside down and turned inside out. This creates a fast paced gun-toting modern day 'western' backdrop of shoot first and ask questions later. I loved that about this series. The strong, protective male characters keep me coming back for more. Unfortunately, I found myself, especially in the first half of the book, becoming a little exasperated with the two main characters. Cash constantly wanting to kill anyone who touched her became a little old. Cat constantly having sex with a man she thought hated her for most of the book had me skimming and eye rolling. I get angst, and like it, but these two just exhausted me. Not to worry though, the second part of the book pulled it together. It found the suspense, action and great storytelling I knew the book had - making me remember why I love this series so much. I can't wait to see whose story is next.
Wow...finishing this book, I was left utterly speechless. I've been a huge fan of Paige Weaver's writing since first discovering her with Promise Me Darkness. Paige Weaver has the astounding writing ability to bring not only the characters to life, but her words engulf the readers, pulling you into this crazy war driven world she's created. All of her books, have left me reeling, but this one was by far the best of the entire series. I loved every moment of it, from beginning to end. There was never a dull moment.
Promise Me Forever picks up immediately where the cliffhanger of Promise Me Once left off. (So if you haven't read the first three of the series, you will be somewhat confused!) From the first page, I felt the intensity of the setting and that never went away. I felt like I was on pins and needles for the entire book, constantly petrified Cash and Cat wouldn't have the outcome I hoped for. This book literally had me on the edge of my seat the entire way through.
America is at war and pretty much is thrust back to the 'stone-age'. No electricity. No cell phones. An overthrown government. Rebel militias. Danger everywhere. The circumstances are so realistic, so possible, at some points terrifying truthful. IFollow Cash and Cat as they are finally reunited and they struggle with their harsh reality as they try to get back home to safety together.
Cash Marshall was a mysterious side character in the first two books of this series, I was given just enough enticing details to want more of him. In Promise Me Once, we finally got the start of his journey of finding the Beauty Queen he couldn't get out of his head. He's mysterious. He's broody. He's alpha. He's dark, and he's sexy as can be. That cowboy hat and his jaw tick---Sigh. I loved everything about him. I love that he was able to pull the softer side out in Cat. And his protectiveness over her safety bumped him up to one of my top book boyfriends ever.
I will admit that I wasn't a huge fan of Catarina 'Cat' Phillips in Promise Me Once, she was spoiled, she was rude and she acted like she was better than everyone else. However, she made up for it in this book, Cat FINALLY realizes that her social standing before the war, mean nothing, and all the material things and money she had, and the destructive lifestyle she was living, wasn't what she wanted. Cash forced her to see that. Her character matures a lot throughout this book, and in the end, I adored her. She's one tough chic and held her own in some very tough situations.
Finishing this book did nothing to curb my excitement from it. This is one of the very rare books that I immediately wanted to start back at page one as soon as I read the final line in it.
It will give you every emotion you can imagine. It will leave you reeling. It will wreck you for other books to come.
Rating: 6 out of 5 Stars POV: Hers & His / 1st person Naughty Factor: 5 out of 5
Holy Shitballs!!! That was one amazing ride! So much happens from start to finish that I was riveted to every word and couldn't stop until I reached the end.
The conclusion to Cat and Cash's story had so much angst, frustration, heartache and action. I wanted to throttle the both of them for their stubbornness and then turnaround and hold them at the same time.
The return of some evil doers makes their reunion difficult and short lived and the harsh conditions of the world as it is, only added to that. Cat's young brother, Tate, really comes into his own. Since he's had to grow so fast, he's becoming a man right before our eyes. They meet some surprising allies and fight tooth and nail to get back home and save each other.
I have to say this book was the MOST intense and action packed book in the series!! Paige Weaver truly turned this story into a roller coaster of love, heartache and survival. This an an incredibly intense read and a GREAT way to start off the new year and she's totally forgiven for my lack of sleep, dark circles and need for extra concealer. This book was so worth it!!!

Such a wonderful series! Seriously loved all 4 books! I will admit, i would have liked a little more. I mean what about Adam's story, keely & Gavins story. Honestly, i also wanted a little more of an ending with Cash & Cat's story. I felt it was just ended. Over all though great story, i loved it!!!
Promise Me Forever is the continuation of Paige Weaver's Promise Me Once. This review may contain spoilers if you have not read PMO, we pick up right where we left off.
The world is in shambles after an EMP attack years ago. Cash and Cat (along with their friends and family) are just trying to survive.
"I took another second to stare at her. The night we met, I found myself mesmerized by a girl that wasn't my type. She was spoiled and rich and too high maintenance for a cowboy like me. I was a salt-of-the-earth kind of guy. She was a daddy's princess, used to getting her way. One night together was all we planned but we found that once would never be enough.”
I think that right there describes Cat and Cash's relationship very well. A relationship that is constantly tested throughout the conclusion of their story. They love each other, they hate each other. They can't keep their hands off one another, they can't stand to be around one another. It was a constant struggle back and forth, back and forth. Their lack of communication about their true feelings really frustrated me, I never got the feeling that I really knew the depth of Cash's love. He was cold and distant so often. No matter what was going on around them though, they always found themselves back together.
The most exciting parts of this story for me were the suspense elements. There was a constant adrenaline flow whether it be from them being hunted or things steaming up between them...both of which happened quite often. I found myself intrigued but this new world they were living in. In the end I enjoyed the conclusion of this story. I do hope to get more stories from other characters in the future!
Another great addition to this series. I have been in love with this series and it's characters since the beginning and I am so happy that Cash got his HEA.
True to the rest of this series, it kept me on the edge of my seat. So many emotions ran through me while I was reading this book until the very end and even then I was holding my breath waiting to see what was next. Many times during this book I was gutted. I was hurt and angry by all the things that Cash and Cat had to go through to survive. I hated every single bad thing that they went through, but at the same time it really spoke of the strength these two characters have.
This book picks up where Promise Me Once leaves off and it still left me hanging for a couple of chapters as to what was happening. I couldn't consume the first few chapters fast enough until I knew what was happening and that things would start to look up. Well, even though there was some break in the crazy, it was still packed full of tension and kept me reading to see what would happened with these characters.
Paige Weaver does an amazing job of keeping you in this crazy post EMP world. This is my favorite series in this genre and I would really like some more, preferably Keely and Gavin's story or maybe a little bit of Adam.
If you like really sexy romance with an amazing storyline that will keep you no the edge of your seat then this is a great series to read!
***I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review*** This series is hands down one of my all time favorite!!!! It's got it all! Love, passion, adventure, action, suspense and soooooo much more! I never thought I'd fall for Cash like I did Ryder in the beginning, but boy was I wrong! Cash is the strong silent cowboy in the corner who rarely opens up to anyone, but when he does, watch out! Cat and Cash have been through it all! I love these two! They're the most unlikely pair, but they share a connection like no other! With fight and determination they all work together to save their loved ones and what's left of their world after the EMP struck. This book like the whole series so far will leave you on the edge of your seat in agony to know what will happen next! Promise Me Forever is the continuation of Promise Me Once. Will the Cowboy save the day and live happily ever after with his girl or will life as they know it be no more? If you haven't read the other books in the series I strongly suggest you do so you won’t be lost. If you haven't one clicked this series yet, what the heck are you waiting for?! GO BABY! ~Heather Go Baby! Book Obsession Blog
a FANtastic conclusion to Cash and Cat's story. Every book in this series flawed me. The whole concept alone blew me away and I loved each and everyone of these books. And like all of them I couldn't put them down. This picks up right where the last one ends. The war is still going on, people are starving and becoming scavengers. Cash, Cat, Tate, Gavin and Keely are in this town where things are just too good to be true and plan to escape. While escaping Cat gets shot and Cash puts the blame on himself. Gavin and Keely escape and Tate, Cash and Cat along with David, the preacher/doctor barely get out. Cash is devastated when Cat is hurt trying to protect him, so he tries to distant himself from Cat, but the more he tries he can't he is in love with her. If they get out alive can their love survive? Really, Really love this series, would love more maybe Keely and Gavin's story or Adam. Loved seeing Maddie and Ryder again!
This book pissed me off! in the first book they played cat and mouse with each other and that was fine, but the reason they kept playing cat and mouse with each other is beyond juvenile. I really REALLY wanted to stop reading, but I love the story so much I kept going but damn it was hard. Cash started being a complete ASSHOLE after Cat was shot because she jumped in front of a bullet for him. So he thought if she didn't love him anymore she wouldn't ever be hurt again. SERIOUSLY?!? You can come up with something better than that! They don't even get together until 90%!!!!! I probably won't read the next book in the series. I am so mad. You didn't do Cat and Cash justice Ms. Weaver. You could have done so much better. They deserved better!
PROMISE ME FOREVER is Paige Weaver at her absolute best. This book is a real page turner and I felt gutted and broken hearted only 10% into the book. My emotions were tossed all over the place throughout the remainder of the book; my kindle drowned in my tears; it exploded with the sheer heat and passion between Cash and Cat. I drowned in my tears and I exploded from Cat's and Cash's passion! Oh, Paige Weaver, you have out done yourself on this one!
Truly remarkable and magnificent! Ms Weaver's entire Promise Me Series is a must read! I have absolutely loved each and every book! The characters remain in my heart and mind long, long after completing the books! You'll want to give the series a try!
Yet another addictive read!! The Promise me series is one of my all time favourites. I just loved the post apocalyptic theme. People are downright evil, it's scary.
Loved Maddie and Ryder and didn't much care about Cash until we got to see him up close. I think I just loved Ryder and Maddie together. But Cash was a fantastic character even when he was being a total dick to Cat you still loved him. He would fight to the death for those he loved. Cat I didn't think I would like either but she was more than a spoiled little rich girl. She has a heart of gold and would throw down her life to save her loved ones.
If I had one wish it would be we get to see what happened to Gavin and Keely. Just don't want the series to ever end. Lol
Cash doesn't appreciate his woman talking about another man, “Adam,” I said automatically, tilting Cash’s head forward so I could get a good look at the gash on his head. His gaze snapped up to mine. Heated fury swirled in his eyes. I let go of his head and cleared my throat. “His name is Adam.” Seriously he just can't handle it, "he took a step closer, his voice dropping to a spine-tingling tone. “As far as you and me, I’ll survive. As far as him… He touched you, Cat. The real question is, will he survive?” I love this series the men remind me of strong lumberjacks, sexy lumberjacks and I can't wait to see whats next for this series.
Cat and Cash have their story continue in heart breaking form in this book. You do need to read Promise Me Once before reading this book. Now what i will say next will include small bits of info but no direct spoilers as much as i can. Cash is still so adorable but what he does to Cat in this book makes you want to hate him, as he does something heartbreaking, but it is for the greater good of themselves. The story continues and again is fulled with tension, romance and the need to survive. I wanted to shout and scream and grab Cat and Cash for a big old bear hug and say keep going you can do it. Loved the story and Cash is a good man to have when you need to survive a world at war
Phenomenal conclusion to Cash and Cat's story! They are faced with many dangers, trust is tested and enemies become allies! Who will survive? Will Cash and Cat find their happily ever after or will they end up destroying one another? I love this series and all the wonderful characters, old friends will make an appearance. I can't wait to find out about Gavin and Keeley's adventure and who is Adam really? This book was an emotional rollercoaster ride and I couldn't put it down!
This series is the perfect balance of action and romance, there is a decent plot line which compared to some books in the genre is a definite step up.
I don't really have a whole lot to say about this book as it was a couple of weeks since I finished it, but it was a good conclusion to the story line and I enjoyed seeing a few characters at the end from the previous books. I'd recommend you read it if you have read the others before.
This was the Best book I've read this year, well the best series and i have read 63 books this year. Paige Weaver you are an Amazing writer AMAZING and I don't tend to write reviews because I just go through books to fast but this series was just amazing. I think I nearly cried because it ended and the ending was perfect. You made the characters come to life and you made me love them. I wish they never ended.
Their story continues & will keep you on the edge of your seat til the end. Will Cat survive? Will Cash survive? Their lives are threatened, their relationship pushed to the limits, friendships formed, & bonds built with unlikely allies. A must read! Paige continues to give us awesome stories. Hope to get more Cash & Cat & can't wait for Gavin & Keely's story. Our favorites Ryder & Maddie make an appearance!
I really enjoy the characters they seem so real. In the end I wanted to slap Cat with her pathetic weakness. She attacked everyone and was so afraid she couldn't react or participate. Everyone was fighting to help her and she just narrowed in on Cash and that's it. In the end it worked out especially with Cash as her protector.
I always think why when I am enjoying a great book that my life seems to get in the way. The book just like the other books in this series tells a intense story. It grabs a hold of you on page one and doesn't let you go until the end. I held my breath on many chapters. In the mist of chaos there is a great love story about a beauty queen and a cowboy. A must read!
So disappointed in this book . Nothing other than sex happens in this book until 53% ,even after that it's mostly just sex . No action , machine guns or bad guy killings . Just mostly sex oh and hero being an ass bc he wants heroin to "stop loving him " corny !! The action scenes were cringe worthy , Super cheesy .
It's not often that you find a series that just sucks you in and this story of Cash and Cat did just that. I would recommend reading the first two books starting with with Promise me Darkness and continue from there you will want to have that connection with those characters in this book. Super great chemistry. Outside the box with this storyline always refreshing!!!
This was such a awesome read!!! . I have loved this series. I think it's the reality of how possible this situation could happen. But I don't want it to be over. Won't you please reconsider Paige Weaver......there is still So much more left to tell about Keely, Gavin, Tate, Adam, the list goes on. PLEASE don't let this be the end!!!!!
I needed this story. Loved it and want more. Just more. More Cat & Cash. Ryder &Maddie, Keely, Gavin, Tate ,Adam the list goes on. I hope this series just continues.
