His Touch Makes Me Forget My Scars...

Melody
I had everything: looks, money, adoring fans all over the world. In a split-second, everything changed.

Now, I’m a prisoner in my own home, scared to face the world. Then one fateful night I meet him. Kade’s tough, fearless, and knows the meaning of the word loss. He’s also sexy as hell. When our worlds collide, neither one of us will be the same.

Kade
I’m a fighter. I have the scars to prove it, not just from the war, but from inside the ring too. And although we come from two different worlds, Melody’s scars run just as deep. After everything I’ve lost, it’s hard to keep fighting. But then Melody gives me a reason.

Original post on Reading Addict

I don't know what am I going to do with myself if I continue to read so many books and especially amazing and very emotional ones that leave me as a mess of contradictory emotions.

This is my second, or third, read from these authors so I was familiar with their style and I knew I'm going to like the story, but not so much. And it's not like I'm complaining but when you've read from someone and you already know how is like you don't expect to be blown away again...

I really don't want to give away too much, because this is a novel that has to be read so you can experience it properly, and is very hard in words to explain it or at least try. You can't really put feelings into words, you have to feel them yourself. And this novel was really really feelingy. *that's not a word but you get it*

I won't say that it is a light, easy and fluffy read, because the tone of the story is a bit darker, more serious and a ton of emotions and dangerous but also sad things are happening throughout the story. But still, you get beautiful moments, moments when you just want to hug someone because this is so cute and they are so cute and they are happy and you are happy. It's a very deep and emotional read and you need to take your time, to let emotions get you and "flip" through them. It's a book that needs a bit of time and not because it's boring, nonono!, but because it deals with more sad things and you don't want to rush it.

The characters are also beautiful and very realistic created, and you have the impression that you follow them and that they tell you the story personally and not that you read someone's story. And this things makes the emotions hit even harder, because you feel so much for these people and you really want them to be good and happy and without getting hurt, and be safe and sound. Also, their relationship is so well written, nothing is rushed or too much, nothing is missing. You'll love them both separately and together.

About the writing style I won't say too much, but I really like it, it gets me everytime, it has that special something that you can't find in every story and every book, that spark that makes you feel good while reading.

So, if you want a good, engaging, deep, sexy and emotional read, pick this one up. And be ready to be punched a little... emotionally, of course!

4.0 STARS!!!

Healing Melody is a book about acceptance, forgiveness, moving on and falling in love which follows the story of Melody Swanson the hot, new music sensation...touted as the "voice of a generation with a face of an angel". She had it all!The money..the fame...until that one night that changed everything that leads him to  hire the services of Kade...a dark, intense, resentful..haunted and hot as fuck veteran and MMA fighter who will do everything for his son.

“Why’d you choose me?”

“Something in your eyes. They lured me in.”“I’ve never had anyone mention my eyes before,”I confess.

“Usually they notice the tattoos. What about my eyes?”

“They’re haunted.”Her words linger in the air.   “Haunted?”I repeat. “Yeah,”she replies.  “My eyes are haunted. That’s what you like about them, huh?”I wait for her response. She finally admits, “When I saw them, I just felt like you might be able to relate to me.”

This book is a quick read for me but definitely good. The scenes are so raw and intense that will keep you always in the edge. What I like about is it's straightforward without so much drama and angst but definitely delivers a good heart wrenching story that will keep you hooked and keep on turning the pages because hell! Everything is just flawless and brilliantly written. I love the character portrayal also, with so much of an opposite traits everything just blended so well with a chemistry and sex scenes that is oh so panty dropping...*sigh..what is not to love with this book?

I gave this 4 stars because with this good story I wanted more. The authors makes me so thirsty for more of their story as well as those of secondary characters of the book. Furthermore, I could say this book is really a must read. The authors -- a husband and wife at that really did great which makes me even looking forward to their other masterpieces.

4 Solid Stars

First book but this author and I liked it a lot! Call me superficial but I think the whole "scarring" issue with her sort of kept me from fully investing in the story. Now I love a scarred hero but scarred heroine....ehhhh, not my cup of tea.

The storyline was very good as well as the writing and if the situation were reversed I may have even given it higher stars but for me....yes, I know, I am superficial and my "physical" expectations of my heroines are pretty specific and BBW and the the whole "disfigurement" is just a no go for me:(

What I found fascinating though was that we never got that "deep" into the descriptiveness of what she actually did look like, it was weird too.

All in all though, a good read!

Wow, this story is a emotional roller coaster ride! It's a story of two souls who have lost their will to live and their encounter that gives them hope. This story is a real page turner, it's heartbreaking, soul mending and steamy.

Melody's life is destroyed. She's unable to face the world because of her scars but if she doesn't fulfill her obligations she could loose everything. Kade has lost his son, he suffers from PTSD and finds himself working to repay a debt. They are both suffering from personal losses until they come together and sparks fly. The story is gripping, their struggle is grief-stricken and their salvation is uplifting. It's a quick read that will leave you smiling!

Melody Swanson had it all. She was young, beautiful, rich and had an amazing voice.  She's being called the "voice of a generation" but man, is she screwed up. She's under obligation to write songs for her label and the pressure is mounting. Melody is stifled creatively and she's tried everything…alcohol, drugs, etc, but nothing is working.  Desperately, she turns to her other addiction, sex. (Well, she doesn't think she's an addict but her therapist does…but really what does she know anyway?) On her way to a midnight tryst, Melody suffers a car accident, which leaves her horribly disfigured.   Now, she hides behind a mask, literally and figuratively, interacting only with those she employs. Even her gold-digging parents are worried and bring her a therapy dog. Melody is content to continue her reclusive existence but fate, the fickle bitch, isn't through with her yet. She learns that she's STILL under obligation to her label to produce an album or they'll sue.

Kade, an embattled veteran struggling with PTSD is a lost man. Life, and poor choices in friends, is literally beating the crap out of him. He's a cage fighter taking a pounding, in underground fights, searching for a miracle but one last Hail Mary leaves him injured.  Body broken, with no other options, he enters into a deal with the devil.  He sells his gym, and his body, for an experimental treatment that might…MIGHT…save his son.  Devastated by all that's happened and the debt he owes, he becomes an escort.

Knowing that she has to jumpstart her creative process and horribly alienated in her solitary existence, Melody believes the only way she'll ever enjoy the touch of a man again is to pay for the service.  She stumbles across a website offering escorts and is stunned by what she finds. She sees eyes staring back at her that mirror her own pain.

"Why'd you choose me?"

"Something in your eyes, they lured me in." …

"What about my eyes?..."

"They're haunted… When I saw them, I just felt like you might be able to relate to me."

I didn't immediately fall in love with this book; Melody seemed like everything I can't stand about the entertainment industry. She came across horribly selfish and entitled but I wanted her to be better than that. Thank goodness the authors agreed. Isn't it strange what a revelation we are when our artifices are stripped away?  So, I waited for her breakthrough.

On the other hand, I connected with Kade right from the start.  My nerves began to sing when I realized why he was putting himself through the beatings. They started fraying when I read about his struggle outside the hospital room. They were shot when he described the struggle our military goes through trying to reintegrate into the world they fought to protect. I was beyond angry when I realized the lengths he was being forced to go to in order to repay his debt. I was a livewire and my heart broke for him.

Both characters are struggling with their own form of PTSD and I loved that the authors were sensitive to that. They introduced various mediums of assistance, therapy, pets, etc and I like that they are using reading as a way to break down some of those taboos, in some small part. I also believe deeply in the power of music to heal.

In the end, I loved this book. Its redemptive nature of the story and the power to be reborn after tragedy captured me. Even when I didn't like Melody, it was a page-turner.  It was my first time to read the Grey's but I doubt it'll be my last.  Bravo!

Healing Melody by Ozlo and Priya Grey is a standalone book and my first read by both of these authors. I thought the writing was great and the storyline was intriguing.

Healing Melody was a very good read. Considering this was my first time reading anything by these two authors, I was impressed. Will I read another book by them in the future, most likely, yes. Now, with that being said, it would depend on the heroine’s storyline in the future for me personally. Don’t get me wrong, I love a scarred hero in my romance stories but when the focus is on a scarred heroine, well that’s where my feelings falter just a bit. I don’t mind some “minor” scar issues and/or imperfections but in this story, I had a real hard “visual” time to connect completely with Melody. I am a visual reader and although I know it’s impossible, I want my hero and heroine to be visually beautiful in my mind and I couldn’t get that with Melody for obvious reasons. Now with that being said, I also could not get a visual of her even with her scarring, which was odd for me as well.

Melody was a total enigma to me. As a reader, I definitely could “understand” her to a certain point. I got a fairly decent background story on her but definitely not enough to help me “define” and/or relate to her. I didn’t quite “get” the sex addiction references, I mean yeah, as a reader I got it but what I didn’t get was why she used sex as an “inspiration” for her music and how exactly did it all start and more importantly was there a particular reason that made her behave that way. This is definitely where I had a hard time to truly understand her and if I am being honest, I wasn’t really sure that I even liked her at first. As her story progressed, I did warm up to her more and more. The ending seemed too rushed for me, almost like it all ended too fast, too neat. I felt like I was looking for a little bit more information on how exactly they got to where they were by the end. I truly did love the Epilogue but wanted more to fully appreciate it too, if that makes sense.

Kade, oh Kade, wow this man was total swoon-worthy for me. I started off heartbroken for this beautiful man. His backstory was heartbreaking and although I understood where his emotions and feelings were coming from, I also wished that I could have gotten a bit more on him too. His character for me was almost perfect. He was kind, compassionate, tortured and yet had a heart of gold underneath all the ugliness that life had thrust upon him. He was beautiful, he was genuine and all in all he was just so darn “real” that it was fairly easy to not only love him but to connect with him as well.

This story was very good and if it weren’t for my own personal feelings on the “physical” aspect of the heroine as well as the rushed ending, I could have easily added another half star to this book.

One of the better books I've read in quite awhile, this one gets ten stars. It's the first book I've read by the Grey's, but I am now a fan and will be checking out their other works. Their style is straightforward, with a good balance of romance, drama and suspense. I was so wrapped up in the characters and their story at the end that I was grinning and crying happy tears. I read a lot, and that is rare.
Melody Swanson is twenty-five and at the top of the charts as a singer/songwriter when her life is changed in an instant. A horrible automobile accident and resulting fire leave her scarred and disfigured. A year later she has become a recluse, unable to write, yet contractually obligated to write and perform another album. Challenged by a bet with her assistant, she remembers she was always at her best creatively after sex and after a few drinks goes online and finds a man with haunted eyes.
Kade has been through three tours of duty, came home to a young son whose mother is strung out on drugs, and raised him as a single father after the boy's mother left and disappeared. He finds underground fighting is a release for his anger and PTSD and makes enough fighting to open a gym. Then his son is diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. When Shane, a childhood friend, offers to pay his son's medical bills, including the experimental drugs that may save him, Kade agrees to go to work for him until his debt is paid.
Kade and Melody's lives are so different that the way they came together caught me by surprise. The challenges they face are seemingly insurmountable. But that's the reason I read romance instead of other genres. I know that most of the time, the light at the end isn't a train, and that any tears will be happy tears.

This was an exceptionally, well-written, wonderful story to read that had so much depth and feeling to it; in fact, it was an emotional roller-coaster that had lots of highs and lows, but was totally enthralling and intriguing at the same time. Kade’s son is suffering from Leukemia and Kade is having problems paying his hospital expenses, particularly after he suffers a broken leg during an underground fight and is laid up. When Shane, Kane’s childhood friend, now a major figure in the criminal world, offers Kade a proposition in exchange for paying off his bills, Kade knows he has no choice but to accept his offer, even though he doesn’t like it. Melody is a singer, but when she is pursued by Charlie, a persistent paparazzi, she is involved in a car crash that leaves her body and face badly burned and scared and her life and career in turmoil. Confined to the house, Melody needs to continue her song writing, but finds this difficult until she makes contact with Kade. She has seen his profile on a website dedicated to Military veterans; his eyes are dark, intense, resentful and haunting – reflecting how she feels. Melody’s voice captivates Kade and even though her body is badly scared, and she wears a mask on her face, he reassures her; his warmth and friendliness is palpable and when he tells her everyone has scars – hers are visible and his are underneath the surface - she knows the reason she chose him. His presence makes her feel alive again and this impacts on her music career, while helping him with his PTSD and anger issues. But not everything is as it seems, when Charlie pursues Melody yet again and forces her hand. This is a story of two “lost souls” who find what they are looking for in each other, and is certainly a book I would recommend. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Healing Melody

Oslo and Priya Grey

4 stars

Melody Swanson was only twenty four years old and on top of the world; at least to the outside world. She was the next big thing to hit the music scene. She doesn't know if it's the pressure of what everyone is saying or if she needs her next fix. (I won't spoil that) ... Deciding it's that she needs her next fix she heads out only for her life to change forever. A year later life is on hold ... Or so it seems.

Kade is fighting to save his son Max. His gym isn't providing enough anymore. Kade is fighting for his world until he can't fight anymore. Having no other option Kade accepts his friend Shane's offer. Kades pain runs deep. He lost when he was at war with his brothers but it's nothing like now. My heart was with Kade. Not that it was not with Melody BUT there isn't anything like a man such as him suffering. You simply want to take him and ease his pain. WOW~

I really loved these two characters and their stories of emotional devastation. However I did kind of turn my head in wonder at the deal Kade makes with his friend Shane. I have a SO hubbie and live that military life so I can't see any of the guys taking that deal -- In reading it's sometimes hard to separate those things sometimes. The emotion on the pages is almost too much to take in but I promise you keep turning because it's worth it.

I'm new to the authors andI thank them for the ARC. I recommend you bring out a case of Kleenex friends .. You are going to need it.

I am torn, whilst Melody has the main stage and is centre of this story so to speak, I really connected with Kade from the beginning more than I did with her.

I have thought on my review for a few days and I think it was probably because Melody ultimately was scarred and had underlying issues and she did struggle with self worth and was quite depressed for half the book so I am thinking that is probably why it took me longer to feel emotion for her. I found myself looking forward to Kade and how he was going to help Melody and I was not disappointed. He was very black and white in his life view and Melody was definitely more shades of grey and yes she was the creative force in the end.

When Melody finally realises there is more to her than what is on the outside and she starts to find her way I was totally with her and I really did enjoy how Kade and her relationship developed over the book.

So fair warning this is not a happy hearts and flowers type of romance, it is sad, painful, quite lonely at times but it is worth taking the journey with these two characters.

This is my first story by these authors and I wonder if they write together or they pick a character each and entwine the story particularly at the start as it definitely felt like two stories entwining into one, perhaps that is how they wanted it to appear before they joined the two characters in a partnership to help heal the other.

I was provided a copy by the authors for an honest review.

This story will grab at your heartstrings the moment you open the book and begin to read it ,I used near a whole box of tissue while reading this story. The characters are strong and grow so much more throughout the story and the emotions flow effortlessly with the read. Melody Swanson was a 25 year old woman who was on top of the world as a singer/songwriter up until a horrible car accident left her scared and disfigured , but if she doesn't somehow fulfill her obligations she will loose everything she worked so hard to get. Then there's Kade a fighter ,who has scars of his own also, And the scars and traumatizing events have left them both broken and unsure of their lives. Until they meet each other and hit it right off with a connection and some sparks flying. Just one touch from Kade makes Melody forget everyone wrong with herself . Will this couple be able to help one and other? I can't tell you how this story will make you feel because it a story that pulls you into it depths as soon as you start to read it until you finish it. Ozlo and Priya Grey can really write a brilliant story about healing and acceptance that flows so smoothly that it hard to believe that there is two authors writing it. The chemistry is sizzling hot and the sex scenes should be read in private because their that hot. I could go on and tell you more about this touching story ,but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend you read this story, because you won't be disappointed.

Holy gut wrenching emotions Batman! Any book that can bring out my emotions this intensely will always get 5 Stars from me, and Healing Melody wrecked me completely! Melody had everything: looks, money, fans all over the world, but she was blocked from music. After an traumatizing accident changed everything, she has become a prisoner in her own home, too afraid to leave. Kade is a fighter, and has the scars to prove it. Traumatizing events in his past, have left him broken with little reason to fight anymore. Then he meets Melody, and there's a connection. His touch makes her forget her scars. Will these two broken souls help each other heal?

WOW WOW WOW! This story ripped my heart out, and stomped it to little pieces. The character development is great, with secondaries that need their own stories, (hint hint). An emotionally charged, original, and well written story line flows effortlessly. The writing is so smooth that I always forget that there are two authors writing together. I'm quickly learning that Ozlo and Priya Grey can write anything brilliantly, with tons of emotion that brings tears to my eyes. The off the charts chemistry, and SIZZLING sexy scene goodness should never be read in public. I love these talented writers so very much, and I cannot wait to keep reading them in the future, so I happily HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Melody Swanson had the perfect life as a successful singer, songwriter, and actress. The only downside was the paparazzi that wouldn't leave her alone. One in particular, almost cost Melody her life. Scarred, lonely, and afraid to leave her home, Melody searches the internet for a solution. When she meets Kade, a sexy fighter, he is grieving over a loss. Together they try to heal each other. Kade gives Melody a reason to keep writing songs and singing. Melody gives Kade a reason to keep fighting after his loss. Will Melody overcome her fears of performing again? Will Kade overcome his feelings of guilt, over something he had no control over? This was a beautiful and touching story about loss and healing, and overcoming obstacles and fears. I am definitely going to recommend this book to many people.

I'm not sure my review would be enough to Express how much I love this book.

I posted this on Twitter but, I think it's the best way I can describe my feelings about this book. It's so special and a storyline I never read before. Two souls at the same both going through their own pain and heartbreak. Yet by some miracle a year later meet by chance and save one another.

From Twitter to the Authors's

I just finished reading "Healing Melody" and I think it's my new favorite book. I started reading it this morning and couldn't stop reading until I was done. You both owe me a box of tissues.
Such a beautiful story.
PS, maybe a novella for Cade and Melody to add to the Epilogue

Healing Melody is my first book from these authors and will not be my last one .
This is a touching and very emotional read with great main and second characters and an amazing storyline that sucks you right in from the first page .
Kade , a tough and fearless MMA fighter , finds in Melody ( a singer/songwriter) the same identical suffering lost soul when they meet online when she's looking for an escort . Though their lives are totally different while struggeling trough so much trauma's , they're both gonna try to heal each other . My connection with Kade was so much easier than with Melody . I felt so much more his grief and pain and sometimes wished I could ease it for him .
A read with lots of sizzling sex scenes and so many heart wrenching emotions , you won 't regret reading .

So emotional! Within the first few chapters of Kate's point of view I was bawling my eyes out. The book my say Healing Melody but when they got together they helped to heal each other.
Even though this was fiction, this sounded so real. I haven't read such a good story about loss and reaching the ends of the rope and then fighting to come back out on top. With the help of each other, after experiencing a pain that no one can understand but each they find solace in each other's arms after meeting in an unconventional way.
It's a story where you can put yourself in their shoes in a way. You can connect with the characters, well at least I did.
If the authors other books are as good as this one I'm definitely interested in reading more!

A bittersweet story that had me reaching for the tissues.

This is a story about two damaged souls, Melody who bears physical scars, Kade who bears emotional scars, who come together.

Can they heal each other?

Their story is very emotional, we had tears, we had anger and rage, we had anxiety attacks, we had forgiveness, but most of all we had love.

The story is played out against a backdrop of life in LA....complete with criminals, grasping record labels, and the paparazzi.

This is the first book by these authors that I have read...it certainly won't be the last.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC (via Hidden Gems) of this book.

Something a little different...

I really enjoyed this refreshingly different plot with very likeable human characters. I'm glad to have stumbled upon this one.

Healing Melody by Ozlo and Priya Grey a story about healing and acceptance. Melody was on top of the world. She was a top-chart musical artist, had money, fame, adoring fans the world was hers until one fateful night changed everything. Now Melody is a recluse in her own home; held prisoner by her scars from the fiery crash. Her parents, who only really care about her money, are even worried. In an attempt to help Melody, the get her a puppy. The only friends Melody sees are part of her paid staff; they are worried about her too. Melody still owes her record company an album. Her best-friend bribes Melody to come-up with at least one good song. Melody used sex as her inspiration in the past but is afraid what she looks like now, no man will take a second look at her.
Kade is a broken man. A military veteran, he is a fighter in the underground MMA world and runs what used to be, his training gym. Kade has given his sole to the devil, also known as her childhood friend, now a crime lord because he owes him money. Kade had not only only been paying his debt with money he has won from fighting but also selling his body. When Melody decides to “pay” for the attention of a man, Kade is man who arrives at her house. Both emotionally wounded, Kade and Melody have a deep connection on many levels. But when the public finds out what Melody has been paying for, they must immediately end their “relationship” to try to save Melody's wholesome image. Can either of them live without the other?
The was a very emotional book; it was a roller coaster! What happened to both Kade and Melody to alter their lives was horrible. Both incidents would be enough to scar any person and were heartbreaking. On the other hand, there were many funny scenes involving Melody’s puppy, Mingus. I really loved this book. It was satisfying to see both Kade and Melody change over the course of the book also. Melody realizing that most people care more about what the person is like on the inside and Kade learning that he can have a happy life even though he had experienced a great loss. Both characters grew a lot through the book. What starting out as a stark, dark story eventually grew to one about healing and finding happiness again.

Had my heart from the first pages…

This story just grabbed my heart and wouldn’t let go… I had to grab the tissues early on so I knew this was going to be something unusual. I usually don’t gravitate to “make me cry” romance but this one snuck in under my radar and I’m so glad it did!

Melody Swanson was riding high on her musical success and couldn’t imagine her life getting any better. No, not everything was perfect but what was good was spectacular. Until it seemed to all be lost in an instant…

Kade Turner, on the other hand, knew all about the worst in life. He didn’t know how things could improve the hell his life had become, a life that was not his own…

These two meet in an unusual way and their relationship never does become conventional. Honestly, Melody came across as a bit cold at first but it takes a little Mingus to open her heart and my eyes to the many facets of this oh so human woman. Kade, on the other hand, was a sympathetic character from the start. Dealing with so many losses he had few options and watching him struggle to do what he needed to made me want to jump in and hug him more than once.
I laughed, I cried and I got angry. This story hit all the right notes!

I read this book in one sitting. It was filled with a lot of emotion as each character is dealing with personal tragedy. Kade is not only dealing with PTSD from his time in the military but also has to deal with the most traumatic thing that a parent can face - the death of a child. Melody is dealing with the aftermath of suffering from physical trauma of a car accident that alters her life permanently. The writing was decent and the pace of the book seemed to flow along well. The characters were pretty well developed and we got a sense of their history as the story progressed. The cast of secondary characters were also written pretty well, and I liked Melody's personal assistant Suzie. At times I found myself feeling like Melody's reactions were a little overdone, but each person handles trauma in their own way so this could be realistic but just something that didn't resonate with me. My biggest criticism is the ending. I felt like everything in the last chapter was rushed and not really developed that well. It just seemed like too abrupt of an ending for a story that had a strong emotional theme running through it.

Courage, healing and finding your inner strength in the face of tragedy.

Melody, musician and song writer on the way up to the top, is scarred inside and out in a car accident. Left with a long recovery and hiding behind a face mask, she hides in her house from the world. Pressured to revive her career by her record company, she seeks comfort in an escort.

Kade, MMA fighter, trainer and escort, is desperately trying to pay off a debt. He, himself, is haunted and deep in sorrow, which is why Melody chooses him. Two peas in a pod.

This unusual relationship, beauty and the beast in reverse, brings hope, faith and stability in both their lives. It provides them with an opportunity to both feel as they can finally open themselves up and lay their emotions bare, as well as be true to themselves.

These were characters that got under your skin with their tragic and emotional pasts. The writing was very direct but managed to convey the whole of emotions from their roller coaster of a ride. Have your box of tissues ready.
