After reading the first book, Pony Express Courtship, I was looking forward to seeing how the series would continue and I'm glad to say that I think book two was better then the first one. I'm kind of surprised that I liked Jacob so much, but I did and I think he is actually my favorite character from this book. The opening scene where he comes to the rescue of the little girl was great and got me invested in the story.

The romance was fine. I think it progressed well and was not too rushed. I did not like Sam at all. He was creepy and seemed to think that he should decide who was around Lilly. The story had a little bit of danger/suspense, which I liked as it made the pages fly by quickly. :)

All in all, a good read and one that fans of the Love Inspired historical romance line should enjoy.

Pony Express Hero a Saddles & Spurs series by Rhonda Gibson take place in 1860 in California. Jacob Young is headed to the Johnson ranch to be the new Pony Express station manager at the ranch. He hears a cry and see a 4 year old girl in her nightshirt and bare feet running from a heard of cattle stampede toward her. He raced his horse as fast as he could toward the little girl. He grabs her just in time to get out of the way. Daisy, the little girls doesn't know how she got there. She said she went to sleep and woke up there. Daisy's half sister, Lilly Johnson comes on horse back with her foreman. Lilly Johnson is the owner of the ranch where the Pony Express station is. Someone is trying to kill Daisy. Jacob also finds out that Daisy is his half sister. He will do anything to protect Daisy. A Very good read.

Loved it

Lily had lost her mother and her father. All she had left was her half sister Daisy and the family ranch. Jacob was placed in an orphanage by his mother, he was adopted when he was 10 years old. He is on a quest to find his birth mother. God has a way of placing the right people in your life at the right time. That is what he did for Jacob and Lily. The story has attempted murder, kidnapping, cattle rustling, greed, and love. Loved the secondary characters, Caleb, Asher and Willow.

An unexpected family, life on the ranch, danger and threats, and the sweetest budding love story made this story a one that was hard to put down, once I started to read it.
Jacob is such a good man, the first book in the series proved it, and this one confirms it. His caring, protective manners, his hard working attitude, and fairness towards fellow man makes him very likable. His search for his biological mother is heartbreaking, you just want all the best for him.
The sisters, Lilly and Daisy are adorable together. Daisy is so full of energy, a little sunshine indeed. Lilly is working hard, she is fair, sweet, and kind person. She does have a hard time trusting Jacob, but Jacob also holds an untrusting heart, because of his mother's actions.
The life at the ranch is interesting, the power struggles, the routines, the little joys, and shared burdens, all parts of life. The mysterious attempts to harm little Daisy, the incidents at the ranch, missing livestock, all put the characters on their toes, and gives more spice to the tale.
Both Jacob and Lilly, with all their positive attributes, have one negative thing in common, they don't trust easy, they are not looking for a relationship, to fall in love. But in each other they see something, that makes them build new dreams and hopes, and as they get to know each other, they form a team, a unit, and deeper feelings take root, and hope for something much more comes to alive.
With little faith, a lot of prayer, guidance and forgiveness, hope for the lighter, brighter, love and family filled future, just might be possible for Jacob and Lilly.

I liked the plot of Pony Express Hero. It was cute, tender, historical, had drama, mystery, action, with characters that I admired and would like to see more of. It was also a clean read.

Jacob Young is a character from another book. He has come to look for his mother and ask her why she left him in a orphanage when he was 10 years old. He still works for Pony Express but he will be out of a different ranch.

Lilly Johnson and her little sister Daisy own a ranch. Lilly has been taking care of her sister since she was born and running the ranch. She is only 20. Daisy is 4.

Jacob as he is getting close to his new home hears a child screaming. She is being chased by a herd of cows. Jacob rushes to rescue her before she gets hurt. Someone had taken Daisy and put her in danger while she was sleeping.

Jacob offers to help Lilly watch out for Daisy and protect her. He soon finds out that Daisy is his half -sister.

Jacob does not trust women. While Lilly thinks men only want to marry her for the ranch.

The descriptions made it easy to picture life on the ranch.

I would read more stories by Rhonda Gibson in the future. I have liked the stories that I have read by her.

I was given this ebook to read by Harlequin and NetGalley. In return I agreed to give a honest review of Pony Express Hero.

Jacob Young arrives at his new job just in time to save a little girl from being killed by a raging stampede. How did she come to be in the ravine where the herd was stampeding?

Lilly Johnson cannot figure out how her sister Daisy ended up in that ravine, but she is determined to keep her eye on Daisy and not allow anything else to happen to her. Suspicious of all men Lilly doesn't know if she can trust the new Pony Express man. Jacob too has trust issues. Being left on the steps of an orphanage Jacob would like to find his birth mother so he can ask her why she left him.

Jacob soon falls in love with little Daisy and he too will do anything to keep her alive. Who could be out to harm the little girl? And how long can Jacob keep his heart closed towards Lilly?

I thought this was a sweet romance with an added bit of suspense to tie it all up. I enjoyed Lilly and Jacobs characters. Jacob was an honorable man who would do whatever it took to keep the women safe. Lilly too was honorable in that she was always honest with Jacob even if it meant she could lose what she loved most. I enjoyed the story very much. If you have never tried a Love Inspired Historical fiction I recommend them.

Jacob is on his way to his new job when he hears cattle stampeding. At that moment he sees a little girl directly in their path. After he rescues her, he learns that she is his little half sister. Jacob vows to protect Daisy at all costs. As he learns the ropes of his job for the Pony Express he also learns more about his late mother, his little sister and her family. But Jacob's distrust of women might be a stumbling block in his journey towards independence.

This was a sweet story with a little bit of drama thrown in. It was a continuation of the previous book, but would work well as a stand-alone. The author does a great job of creating tension with some of the characters and sparks between the couple. The imagery transports the reader into the past and out west. There were a couple of different lead ins that I could see becoming the next book in the series. Overall, this was a fun little book that I enjoyed and I look forward to reading the next book by this author.

I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This is a historical western tale which is a sequel to Pony Express Courtship which introduced a family of young lads, their mother and little sister. The lads had all been adopted and in this book one of them has gone off to tend stock on a ranch and keep the Pony Express riders supplied with remounts.

I preferred the first book, perhaps because a small girl is involved in this book and she rapidly becomes the focal point of the tale, making it more like a Disney and less like a typical western. We do see a few sides of ranching life and the child is prone to a suspicious number of accidents, making her older sister believe that someone is trying to harm the little girl. Our hero is just a stockman but he intends to do his best to help both of the girls.
I downloaded a copy from Net Galley for an unbiased review.
This is a family friendly romance.
