This is an unusual book both in terms of thematics and characters . Most YA today is jumping on the hunger games meme and very few are focusing on climate change as the very real and likely apocalypse bringer Caught in the harrowing super charged climate events, the main character ,Maddie, is very engaging and multi-dimensional. Her relationships, amped up by innovative and prescient social media advances of the near future, are those experienced by everyone currently bound up in the very scary world of high school which is then made scarier by impending doom. For anyone who enjoys character development, excellent visceral writing and a great narrative arc, I suggest you catch this swan.
This is my own book, so this isn't really a review so much as a status update. I finished my editing pass yesterday evening in Livermore at a beer bar called Tap 25, which is odd because I started at a place called 16 Tun in Auckland, New Zealand. That means I am one step closer to making the preview edition available. Much remains to be done, of course, including entering the rest of the handwritten edits, finishing writing a few new sections, and editing the bonus chapter from Part Two I am going to include at the end.
