Planet Duarana is in trouble, yet under the cozy flow of entertainment very few duaranans admit the costs of their choices. Change will be evident when a pair of alien visitors arrive to shake things up.
I'm don't feel great about reviewing a book I couldn't finish but I simply couldn't read very far into this book. The language was really dense and things were not explained clearly. After a few chapters I had no idea who or what anybody was or what was happening.
I'm sorry to be so negative about a book I got for free and was genuinely curious about but when I realized I was forcing myself to continue despite all lack of clarify I knew it was time to stop.
This is a very creative piece of ecological science fiction. It made me consider the state of our environment and how other sentient life might view humanity. At the end of the novel, a timeline and glossary are included. I hope there is a second book in the works. This world of Duarana is too compelling to vanish.
This seems to be an experimental work, and I hate it when people turn a story into an experiment, trying to invent another style of writing for the sake of the experiment.
