Teensy weency spider

Anita Oh keeps spinning a fine tale continuing with this second novel. The standard of both the writing and mood are maintained and I'm looking forward to the next book.

Lucy is still not very popular despite the fact that she saved all pupils from an evil spell. It even gets worse with the bullying and another spell shrinking her to Thumbelina. It is quite shocking that all hate or resent her so much. At least the Golden are on her side and the banter with Tennyson is excellent. As much as Sam seems a nice guy, I would love for her and Tennyson to become closer... And it seems, their relationship is shifting a bit to be a little more ambivalent.
The story is a bit faster, the writing a bit more fluent and her obsession with food isn't getting old.
Off to the next book, the last in the freshman year-

i really like these books! even though there are three books in each year, each book is actually a story in itself. the main characters are well developed and very different from each other. the main character is hilariously sarcastic and has a great sense of self. she finds humor in her worst situations and always finds a reason to keep going. a great example for teens.
really enjoyable series!

some swearing but her most used derogatory word is jerk often with some great adjective added to it.

Okay okay.... this one was definitely better than the first BUT i still can’t get pass the fact that they all speak and act like senior year/college student when they are only 9th graders....

And a frustrated part is in book 1, Lucy was able to hack into a blog and good with computers but in this one she could have simply do the same but didn’t until like the end?

Team Tennyson! He has quite a bit of hilarious lines in this one! Love it!

Great but too short

This was yet another funny and interesting story in the werewolf high series. It carried on the same themes as the previous book, but this time the curse is a shrinking one. The only reason I gave this one four stars is because the story surrounding the curse was a little short.

Not bad for book two. I love Lucy and the Golden. They really look out for her even though she is not part of the pack. Even when things looked really bleak for her she still stayed positive and they were willing to help her. I was really hooked with the plot and the fight with Astor. I couldn't put it down. It was too good! Absolutely loved it!

It's second book of the Werewolf High series, and it's better, than the first one. One of those light book, that you can't stop reading.

Lucy is still in the first year of school. The bullying is a lot worse then it was and when she thinks, it can't get worse, she is attack one more by the mysterious witch/wizard, who makes her small, like the size of finger small. She and the Golden, try to resolve issues, while keeping her alive.

I really like that friendships have evolved a lot in this book. I'm really hopping that she and Tennysone to get together and I still don't like Sam. :)

It's really fun and quick read. I wish these books were a lot longer, there are just so good. :) One you start, you can't put the book down. :)

Another semester another spell. Why oh why, the dumb lumbering fool targets her. Who is the spell caster. These are just some of the questions needing answering, can Lucy, Tennyson, Sam, Nickoli and Athena solve the mystery. Can they find what they need to make Lucy BIG again

Lucy gets herself into a whole world of trouble, this time around she's hit with a shrinking curse and gets carried around in the ever proper and oh so cute Tennyson Wilde's pocket.

Love this series. A private school with magic and werewolves where you never know who to trust. Friends become enemies and evil turns good. Can't wait to read more!

Even snarkier and funnier than the first. Maybe, my sense of humor regressed in the past twenty-four hours, but the poo scene on the polo field is hysterical. Hehehe.

Another freebie and quickie. They are so short that all three will feel like reading one novel so I'm going to go ahead and burn through the next one.

Being Thumbelina had to suck, but I am questioning how she didn't get questioned as closely as she should have been "gone" as long as she was. Lucky she went to a rich school.

Mystery

More sassy attitude as Lucy deals with betrayal and discovers the trials of being vertically challenged. Yes. I need to read more.

A few months ago, I stumbled upon the product page for this (at the time) yet-to-be-released book. The synopsis of the book clearly told that a curse had fallen upon the main heroine, shrinking her down to two inches tall. Shrinking is a fantastical plot device that has intrigued me since I was small (see what I did there?), and I’m always on the lookout for books that handle it well. Since it was the second book in Anita Oh’s Werewolf High series, I’d have to read the first book first. I enjoyed The Truth Spell enough to give it 3.5 stars, and definitely enough to preorder and read the second book.

Like always, I try to be spoiler-free in my reviews, but I’m going to have to mention some events and character details about the first book.

Our plucky—and extremely likeable—narrator is Lucy O’Connor, who has received a scholarship to the magical and secluded Amaris High. She’s somewhat of an outcast at school because of her social status, though she has one or two close friends. On the other end of the social strata are the werewolves of Golden House, particularly Tennyson Wilde, his sister Althea, their friend Nikolai, and Lucy’s childhood friend Sam (who Lucy had believed died tragically with the rest of his family).

It’s now winter of the same school year after the events of The Truth Spell. Lucy has been associated with Tennyson, and she’s looked down upon even more by her classmates. How could a commoner such as her deserve to be in the presence of the Goldens? That kind of thing. But the teasing has escalated to full-out bullying—even cyberbullying with fake social media profiles—and Lucy’s classmates develop a mob mentality against her.

Tired of feeling so small and insignificant, Lucy just wants to disappear. And then it happens; the curse strikes, and Lucy is reduced to about two inches tall. The outdoor winter environment is quite a treacherous place when you’re that small, and I found her first chapter or so at that size to portray the danger quite effectively.

She is eventually found by Tennyson, and he and the rest of his werewolf pack protect her—not only from the classmates bullying her but also from whoever cast the tiny curse upon her. With so much time spent with these characters—in their sock drawers, pockets, top hats, and so forth—author Oh develops them much deeper than she was able to in the first book. It was fun and intriguing to see how differently each member of the pack handled Lucy’s condition, and these character interactions were among the strengths of the book.

Lucy’s narration is loads of fun, and there were several times I laughed out loud at some of her snarky side comments. But first-person narration is a double-edged sword. The reader can only experience things through the narrator’s eyes, and I would have liked more description of what the world looked like at her size. Lucy took much of it in stride as if it were commonplace; magic may be so at her school, but being tiny isn’t. Some of the tasks Lucy faced at her size were accomplished with a phrase like “somehow I managed to…” I want to see the ingenuity and determination of our heroine in those situations rather than being left unshown with somehows. Also, her exact size wasn’t mentioned as early as expected. A reference/scene or two with her standing by a ruler would have been nice, especially with the implication she could be getting smaller (a possibility I’m on board with, as it really raises the stakes). However, these were only minor pet peeves and not enough to affect my overall enjoyment of the story.

Just like the first book, The Tiny Curse is a fun and quick read with clear, solid characters. The plot really builds to a page-turning climax, which felt resolved a little abruptly. But it is resolved, and there are some hints at the longer story arc of the series, along with a shocking final reveal that guarantees I’ll read the next book, The Body Swap. And just like the first book, I wish there was a little more detail—this time in describing Lucy’s oversized world—but it’s definitely at least a tiny bit better than the first book and earns its FOUR STARS.

Why can't I seem to stop reading these books?!

The writing is good, the general idea is ok, but I keep finding myself shouting at Lucy as if I was watching a horror movie and the main character was doing something dumb. AND yet I'm ploughing through this series like a newly opened box of chocolates, why?!

On a serious note I do think that I wasn't as frustrated with some of Lucy's actions , this time round so a definite improvement overall.

Little fun fact before I get into my review, my husband and I love having nerf wars. So one time we were playing I made him a bet and if I won I got to buy this book....so, guess who won! Haha, I've been dying to pick this book up ever since then!

I've been sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for this book to get published! I really, really loved the first one! And the moment I finished this one I pre-ordered the next book as fast as I could, this series is just so much fun!

It took me a couple of chapters to get into The Tiny Curse only cause it's been a few months since I've read the first book. But after a while it wasn't long before I got sucked back into this world! Ms. Oh's writing is absolutely addicting! I just couldn't get enough, it was so hard to put down this book! All I wanted to do was read it and forget the world around me!

Lucy once again gets sucked into this magical world and she has no idea why. Tennyson once again thinks it's her doing, as if she would shrink herself on purpose haha. But as they get deeper he realizes how silly of an idea that was. I think in this one he's finally warming up to her as she's being forced in their world from whoever keeps putting curses on her. I wished we got closer to whoever is wielding the magic but sadly we didn't which is one of the reasons why I couldn't rate this a five star like the previous book.

We didn't get a lot of answers in this one, more speculation and ideas of why this person is causing so many magical problems. Which I loved and thought were great twists, but hopefully when we get the answers they'll be satisfying.

Overall this was another fun read and I'm dying for the next one! I believe this is a trilogy so it'll be sad when I have to say goodbye to the characters! This series is one I would love to reread one day!
