Pagan rituals for the gods long ago trapped them between portal of time so they could cause no more havoc on Earth, but the wrath of the one brought the curse of Anunnakis. Fast forward to 2017, where renowned director, Manav Ghandi has made his final film in the Indian film industry. Reaching the ears of the news industry, his former college sweetheart decides to hunt down the answers to his shocking decision, herself. Pakhi is determined to get answers about and from Manav. But will she like the answers she receives; is there something more behind Manav’s decision? From Spain to Mumbai to Egypt, things are happening, things that may come together in a cataclysmic way. Will two long lost lovers find each other and become stronger for it or will a power far greater have a different plan? Are the gods rebelling and coming for vengeance? All they need is one source to release them, but who will be that source? Is this all a figment of one man’s imagination, different levels of consciousness or something more?

A Game of Gods by K. Hari Kumar is a fascinating look at beliefs, gods, and the pawns that humans can become. Setting up his scenes, and building his world, not all questions are answered and many more are raised. Entertaining, with a few bumps in the written road, this shows great promise as a new series.

A good story, very good characterization, good use of language contrasted with unexpected grammatical mistakes often. The grammar can be easily corrected with the help of professional editors. This book needs it. There's also a love story (like how every Indian book has) but it's just a subplot. overall a very creative plot line and a good narration but I was turned off by the bad grammar too many times.

‘The Anunnaki Messenger: The End is Only the Beginning’ by K. Hari Kumar is a story that revolves around Manav Gandhi and Pakhi Dutta. So Manav and Pakhi know each other from college days and they both are jealous of each other. Later they both set on their career path Pakhi becomes a journalist and Manav becomes a filmmaker. They never thought that they would encounter each other again but destiny had other plans for them. And they are in such a situation where we all are forced to ask one question. Will he be able to save the world? What will happen when they both come together after so many years? To know more read The Anunnaki Messenger: The End is Only the Beginning.

My Thoughts:

I have read all the books from the author and I love all the books. I love the way the author narrates the story. The narration is done beautifully and the readers are kept pondering till the end what will be happening next?

The characters are well developed and we get to see how each character is determined to achieve their goals. The character of the messenger is also well developed beautifully.

The language is simple and lucid and the readers will go through the book easily. The pace of the book is good and will keep the readers on the edge of their seat throughout the book.

The cover page is interesting and the title too will increase the interest in the readers. I was very intrigued to read the book after reading the title of the book.

Overall, I liked the book and would surely recommend this book to all.

I picked up this book as I read blurb and liked the concept. Starting from beginning I liked the cover. The main characters of the story are Manav and Pakhi. They were the couple and the most envied couple. Their paths drifted as they moved on with life. Manav was a filmmaker and Pakhi was a journalist. Then something mysterious happened in year 2017 that brought them closer. Along with their story, another sub story is woven around. Like I loved all the details and mythological touch based on Egypt. And here is the hint from blurb. A deep dark secret about mankind will be revealed to the chosen one in the game of God. Read the book to unfold further plot.
I loved the concept. Well it’s unique in nature. To write such type of book. The author has to be thorough with narration style and author has done a great job in it. I loved the entire part and description based on Egypt. I loved the fictional touch that author has given to the story. Language of the book is lucid. There are lots of twists and turns plotted and story moves forward in unpredictable manner. Overall good one. Recommended from my side.

I want to start by saying that I Love this cover! It is seriously one of the few covers to cross my path that would initially hook me to pick up the book and at least read the back cover to see what it was about. The choice love or saving the world, how unfair why cant I have both? I enjoyed that the love story was more of a subplot to the drama throughout the book. There is a lot of dialog and I like that, I want for the characters to have strong voices not pages of inner dialog. A very enjoyable book for the fans of drama/adventure books with a little love sprinkled in.

The book started off really well and I was looking forward to a very engaging read. But after the intro, I really tried but couldn't go further than 12% of the book. The style changed and just didn't keep me interested in it.

The story changed from talking about gods to modern day life in the most mundane of ways. I can assume it is setting the pace for what is to come but I couldn't continue long enough to find out

This interesting narrative explores two parallel worlds. While one is where a secret brotherhood in Egypt plots the end of the world whereas the other consists of Manav Gandhi a highly sought after director in present day Bollywood who has given 5 blockbusters in a short period, as well as Pakhi, an acclaimed journalist. Both had a past together but fate intervened and separated the but there are still some undercurrents and an unmatched chemistry between them. Manav unexpectedly announces an early retirement which sends shockwaves through the industry. Everybody is shocked at his decision especially since it is taken, when he is at his peak. Pakhi wants to get to the bottom of things, curious as she is, to know the reason for this resolution.
Manav is actually on a mission to save humanity, to prevent the end of mankind. A pagan worship gone wrong in another century altogether invokes the wrath of the Gods and gives rise to the curse of the Annunaki. Destiny brings the estranged couple together and what follows is a battle of good against evil, a battle to save mankind from destruction. With a generous dose of Egyptian mythology, combined with a smooth transition between two eras, the author has produced a remarkable sci fi thriller. Any novel involving a genre as this requires intense research and the author has done just that. As the story unfolds the storyline gets more and interesting. The precision with which the author has written the narrative is commendable and the simultaneous handling of two timelines makes the novel a riveting read. A gripping plot, excellent characterisation and lucid writing style - the novel has all the ingredients of a suspense thriller and as the story progresses, there is a built up of suspense and intrigue which ultimately culminates into an unbelievable climax.

When I first saw the cover page, I was intrigued. The pyramids and the word Anunnaki caught my attention. Naturally, I expected a good book with Egyptian roots. The book did not disappoint. The starting was intriguing, during both the past and present beginning. There are many elements to the story are very interesting. And I like the authors concept of angels. The Egyptians worshipped cats after all. I liked how the author has combined Egyptian mythology with Indian mythology. The links are plausible. However, I wish Pakhi had more book time. Her character is written so beautifully. I hope we see more of her in the next book. However, I expected more of a struggle and a deeper story in the end. Hopefully, the next books will be more action packed. There is still the mystery of how certain plot elements worked out, like how did Hernandez back? How is the woman still alive? What actually happened to Pakhi?
Apart from these facts, the story was enjoyable. Recommended to everyone 💯%.

As I read the blurb of the book, I was fascinated. I couldn’t wait to start reading this book. The cover and the title were apt for the book. The story starts with the explanation of the Annunakis and the pagan worship gone wrong endangering humans. And then the story cuts to the present where celebrated filmmaker Manav Gandhi decides to call an early retirement causing quite a stir in the film industry. Movie producers and actors are all confused and worried of this decision. Meanwhile, Pakhi Dutta, an ace journalist wants to get to the bottom of this too soon retirement decision. She does have a past with Manav Gandhi. They parted their ways in the past but fate make their paths cross again. Manav is on a secret mission to save the humans, when a secret brotherhood conspires to bring the end to humanity.
There is a smooth transition between the two worlds. Lots of concepts explained like teleportation, gaurdian angel. With much research, the details of Annunaki, pagan worship are all given at the beginning which sets the tone for the book. The story goes on a steady pace and then hits you with quite a few twists and turns. So it is worth reading through it. Once you understand the characters and their backgrounds, you would be eager to know what happens to them.
This is unique. I read a few mythological and science fiction thrillers in the last year. But this one proved to be intriguing enough for me to read it through. The language is simple and the story is engrossing. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy sci-fi thrillers. I would rate the book 4/5.

The End could be the beginning

Wow! What a read! The author has clearly done his research well as his quotes, the detailing and the character sketch is a treat to read. This is the book number 1. I want to read book 2 too. I liked how the story is linked to the world of storytellers something one would never accept this book to have. Like every good book, the opening is well thought and sends you in one track and bam ! Surprises you. Although the climax could have been a whole lot better. The writer deliberately takes up characters that don't appear powerful and have power thus giving an oxymoron in the narrative which is exciting as well as thrilling to read. The ending of this part could have been better. Otherwise rest of the story has good build up, great observations of life and engages you . I would really recommend this book to sci-fi fans but the language and the context of the religion is so easy going that anybody can read it. It is not a read especially written for a specific audience.

Good rollercoaster ride

The Anunnaki Messenger: The End is Only the Beginning is a story of Manav, being the most successful director still retires from film making at the age of 35 and then a journalist named Pakhi starts digging about him but had to leave the case due to few issues. And then this Anunnaki Messenger takes Manav on a rollercoaster ride.

- The title is apt as the messenger rules more than half of the story.
- Nice cover
- Good usage of vocabulary and is easy to understand.
- There is a chance of confusion because of continuous shift of events and situations.

All in all the story is very gripping and interesting that I read it all in a go. I recommend it to all the readers who enjoy reading suspense thrillers.

In the beginning, it was difficult to follow the different events taking place in different locations but once you get the hang of the narration, it becomes an interesting read.
Manav, the protagonist, is no ordinary film director. His life has an purpose - saving mankind. He is the chosen one!
Join him in his journey from the depressing days of his life to his final act of heroism.

The narration is good.
The cover photo portrays the climax of the story.

I have read a lot of books by Hari Kumar and almost liked all of them so this one is no exception. The storyline is well thought of. The author has done good research in order to present this book. A lot of genres is mixed in the book and there are some shocking twists. It has some great characters and the characterization is done very well. The narration is the best part of this book as it keeps you at the edge of your seat. There were some unnecessary parts ofcourse. The book felt a little stretched. Waiting to read the next book in the series.

Quite an impressive read to begin the year with. The story, in other words, can be termed has réunion of two parted lovers Pakhi and Manav. But that's not what it is. It is beyond. I especially loved the style of narrating which indeed is lucid. More than that, the speed which it has got, is more promising than expected. And of course, the good use of vocabulary was more than a treat to me.

Conclusion : Gripping, with a touch of emotion and suspense.

As someone who has read his 2 earlier books, I feel like he's finally discovering his style and voice. Though the idea is relatively interesting, it is not successfully passed to the reader. The developments near the end left me puzzled but not in a way that makes me want to read the next book and find out more.

Best of luck to Kumar though I don't think i'll be reading any more of his books any time in the future.
