Witch Hunter

Rate this book
He's been living in a world of darkness ever since leaving the military, but now, ex-SEAL and shifter, Liam Dunne is about to find a woman worth fighting for...

Ella Arden is a young, curvy, sassy witch on the run. Ever since her powers manifested in her childhood, she's been worried she'll hurt someone she loves. She's not a normal witch; her spells come with deadly consequences, and any time she uses magic, something bad comes along with it. Like the time she healed a stray cat... and summoned a fiery inferno that nearly burned her house down. Or the time evil spirits followed her home from the graveyard.

Once she was old enough, she ran away from home and never looked back, no matter how much it hurt. She didn't want to leave her family, but she didn't want to bury them, either.

Liam Dunne is an ex-SEAL, shifter, and bounty hunter with a truckload of skeletons in his closet. After the military, he spent a years drifting and drinking, until he fell in with some truly dark company. He's sent out on a mission to find a witch who holds the key to unlocking some incredible power. But now that he's found her, he's faced with a question: does he follow his orders, or does he follow his heart?

Witch Hunter is an 18+ story filled with pulse-pounding action, shifters, witches, and more hot passion than you can shake a wand at.

I'm a romance writer, currently traveling the world, seeing all that it has to offer, and probably drinking a little too much wine.

I like striking stories. Romances, UF, PNR. Stories about men that move you, heroines with spines of steel, and villains that make your bones quake. Add in some sexual heat and a HEA, and that's what I try to provide.

This was an alright story for me. I found the MCs to be okay but there were parts of the story that definitely didn't work for me. This is the first story I've read by this author and based on this book, I'm unsure if I'll try more of her work in the future.

Ella is a witch of some sort that grew up in a normal family who had no idea she had power. Ella tried using her powers a few times as she was growing up and usually had something bad happen as a result. At some point in her teens, she ran away to keep her powers from hurting her family and has been moving around from place to place ever since.

Liam is a bounty hunter and a wolf shifter. Liam was a SEAL but lost all his team mates and left the service broken. He had a sister but she died a while back and it left Liam adrift and with nothing to live for. He's just been living in a fog and doing his bounty hunter jobs...until he sees Ella.

Well, the book's description actually tells a good amount of the story. TBH, I was kind of confused during part of the story because Liam's "job" and him being a shifter isn't mentioned and it had me wondering how accurate the description actually was. Things between Ella and Liam escalate very quickly (like immediately) but I didn't really "feel" the connection that was supposed to be between them, especially with Liam keeping secrets. Obviously, things do come out and of course they have to come out in a bad way, causing much drama and danger. Liam comes through in the end and his actions allow things to end well, with him and Ella apparently heading towards a HEA together.

I found this story to be mostly enjoyable. The thing that I really didn't like in the story was that I felt like the waiting for the truth to come out had me constantly on edge, waiting for the shoe to drop. The characters were alright but I didn't really feel a the connection with them and the story had definite plot holes that bugged me. Thank goodness I got this as a freebie. :)
