Her job is to protect the human population from the wild and unpredictable nature of the shifters. If her bosses found out she was falling in love with one, both she and Garrett would find themselves in a world of trouble that neither of them needs.

When things come to a head, will the pair be able to do their duties and complete the jobs assigned to them, or will their feelings for each other put everyone they know in danger?

Sadly, I was not a fan of this book. Here's my breakdown:

~1.5 stars~ (I'm going to round it up to 2 stars since it was offered as a kindleunlimited)

Pros:
* Offered as a kindleunlimited

Cons:
* The writing style was lacking - I didn’t care for how this story was executed - some important scenes were incredibly vague, whereas some irrelevant portions had an abundance of detail.
* No backstory - I had to go back and make sure this was book 1 of the series - It felt like I was just thrown into this world with no explanation of their jobs, the town, etc.
* Very bland and one dimensional characters
* Lacked depth in all aspects

Needless to say, this won't be a series I continue.

I could not finish it.

1. I always discount many of the 5-star review. I find the reviews are poppycock.
2. This story was too choppy: the writing style was poor.
3. This book did not grab me; I did not care what happened. And I really stopped reading when I see that Garret was given a Alpha position but he had total memory loss a month after . Huh? Sure. Let's hire a dude with memory loss and he can protect his crew. It was unbelievable. Still laughing. At that point I didn't even care what happened. You may enjoy this book -- not my bag

This is the second book I've read by this author, and while it was better than the first one I read, it was still disappointing. There was just too much confusion to keep all of the players sorted, all the background people, just too many characters for an introductory book of a series. Also, I felt like the "chemistry" of the H/h was superficial and not really there. I always try to read more than one book from an author, this was my second book of hers and I don't think I'll be reading any more of hers.

Shifter story of Bear variety

This author has a lot of books in this genre. A bit too much sex for this old lady. I prefer more action outside the bedroom instead of in it to the exclusion of other action.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS BOOK! “Jade Crew: Alpha Bear. Amelia Jade has written an SUPERIOR story-line and a plot that's thick and AMAZING.

Garrett the Alpha of the Ridgeback Clan also know as the Jade Crew are mining for gems in Genesis Valley. There are several other bear crews mining on the mountain in different locations. Garrett's crew received the name Jade Crew because the first gem they found was Jade.

Emma LaBelle, a Community Liaison from LMC, was sent to supervise Garrett's Jade Crew. LMC sent Emma to see that they became a cohesive clan. They wanted to know how Garrett was handling his crew, if there were complications between the 2 different crews that had been combined as one after a horrendous fight between the two separate crews and because of the loss of life's. Both those of bears and those of human.

Amelia Jade did and astounding job of building her characters and her plot throughout the story-line. The characters were quite unique. They depth and personality. The character given was meant to be both a positive and a negative.

As the rumble and tumble continued threw two of the crew Garrett and Emma where growing to respect the other through working together. They were getting closer. Garrett and his bear new that Emma was their mate and Emma knew that the first rule to get fired from LMC was to get involved with the Alpha. Anyone else was okay but no Alpha.

Not only did Jade's Crew have internal problems but the had problems with the Silvertips Crew. A fight at the clan's favorite bar got the Silvertips restricted for a month.

It wasn't long before someone contacted the LMC about Garrett and the Ridgeback Clan. So the nastiest liaison was sent in and Emma was to return to the LMC office.

So much violence and so much deliciously hot stuff left out. Get a copy soon to find out the rest of the story.

I received this for an honest review. Such an amazing story. I just love her work. If you love bear shifter books you will love this one for sure.

I found Garrett a mystery. Though we do not know much about Garrett’s past or were he came from we do get a look at the man/bear he is today. He was the Alpha of the Ridgebacks also know as the Jade Crew. He truly had his hands full. Seemed like there was fighting on every hand. I do love that fact that he truly loved his crew. He wanted to do everything in his power to make sure they worked together as a team. He felt they were family.

I think this is going to be an interesting series. Unlike the Sliverlakes the Ridgebacks did not have mates. It had to be hard when Emma Labelle from the LMC showed up. Not only was she a woman in their mist but she could chose to find enough wrong to sentence some of them to death if she so choses. This had to be hugely stressful. Not only to the Alpha but the rest of the clan as well.

I so wanted to reach in the book and kick Evan around a bit. Want to know why well you have to read the book to find out. I have to say it is going to be interesting to see what the future series has for Evan. I truly hope to see better things for him.

I liked the Alpha of the Silverlakes. Though we did not see much in the story about him. We got to see enough. He truly had a good heart. I have to say if I had to chose which alpha to be over me it would be Garett of the Ridgebacks. I like the way he ruled his men. I do look forward to seeing what the series holds for Ajax the alpha of the Silverlakes.

If you have ever read anything from these authors then you know you are going to have some hot and steamy parts. Oh yeah!!! Things get hot and heavy between Garrett and Emma. Though Garrett has a way of sending mix signals. You want to slap him upside the head at times.

Trust me when I say you will so fall in love with each and every character in this book. It truly is such an awesome story.

Jade Crew: Alpha Bear deserves 4.5 stars and a WOW.

What would you do if you arrived in Genesis Valley without a memory? Bear shifter Garrett Hoffman doesn't have much of a recollection of his old life. He has a hard task of making a living plus being an alpha to clashing bear shifters. Could these Ridgebacks meet the next mining deadline or face the owner's wrath?

The heroine of this tale is a human female called Emma Labelle. Read to find out what's her role in this story. Will she be too much for a certain bear shifter to handle?

I finished reading Jade Crew: Alpha Bear with a smile. Amelia Jade did a great job with writing this. I found it to be a fun and exciting to read. I was caught up in the truly original storyline…shifters as miners. Readers get a romance with suspense and drama. The story was great and characters' dialogues were good. The story setting was realistic. I could imagine shifter justice or Garrett making dinner for Emma. The chemistry between Emma and Garrett rang true. Read to find out how Garrett handles the morning after. Will he have his own HEA?

I finished the story in one sitting. This is an author that I would always look forward to reading more of her books. I highly recommend Jade Crew: Alpha Bear (A BBW Paranormal Shape Shifter Romance) (Ridgeback Bears Book 1) by Amelia Jade. There was never a dull moment while reading Jade Crew.

Action/suspense right up to the end. Garrett wakes up outside Genesis Valley with no memory. He takes a job with Lionshead Mining Consortium and is assigned as Alpha to the Ridgebacks. The Ridgebacks are a new crew of misfits that just barely missed being put to death as feral shifters because of a blood feud that resulted in the death of several humans. Garretts job is to pull them together to make a crew and find dragon stones. What else can go wrong his crew fights him and amongst themselves to the point he is about to pull his hair out. Than in walks Emma Labelle. Emma introduces herself to Garrett his very own community liason, a woman, a human now what else just don't ask. You got it, Emma is his mate. Danger abounds as anger and resentment cause Emma to be kidnapped and drug into the woods. Will things ever turn around. This is an excellent story i did find it a little confusing in that each pack also had a crew name. Pack name Ridgeback pack name Jade crew name because the first dragons stone was a Jade stone. Also who was on what side of the blood feud this was minor as it is part of the story but the point was them coming together to form there own pack. I received this for free review from the author.

This book suffers from several holes, punctuation errors, and other typical issues you find with shorter stories with a quick release plan. Sorry to say, but creating a series of shortened stories doesn't mean you should pay any less attention to the finer details of world building, knowing your characters (or them knowing themselves), and proofreading.

With regard to them knowing themselves, the male protagonist has suffered memory loss. This isn't something that was needed, plot-wise, and seemed to be a throw-in rather than a purposeful insight into the character. He's not certain where he stands, either, since he has a sudden outburst that frightens the female protagonist right before sweeping it under the metaphorical rug. There is a very obvious issue with his having no memory past the previous month, but a page later he states:

"It's only been a month and change now, but I've come to terms with it."

Clearly not.

I did find the smallest moment or two of the world/environment to be interesting enough to, at some much, much later point, read the next in the series, but I have to hope the author improves along the way.

Intriguing story about bear shifters that leaves the reader thrusting for more.

Garrett is the new boss of the newly form Jade Crew of two former crews of misfit bear shifters mining for gems. Garrett has no memory of who he is and why he is in Genesis Valley. Emma is the human liaison for me mining company to keep an eye on them. Emma and Garrett finds a connection as they are trying to save the crew from being exterminated for fighting and not being productive shifters of the mining company. They are blowing their second chance.

The storyline, sceneries, and characters are realistically believable as the book progresses. The characters shows their personalities and humorous bent. This intriguing book is imaginative fantasy that I have read in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed the book so much that I purchased the next in the series. I would recommend this book and others by the same author to anyone that leaves fantasy paranormal books.

Garrett Hoffman is the Alpha of the Ridgebacks. Now known as the Jade Crew. The Jade Crew is one of several mining crews. What do they mine? Dragon stones.
The mining crews are made up of shifters that don't do well in human environments. Sometimes they don't do well in the mining crews either.

The Ridgebacks are a crew without mates and they have all agreed that for now no one would take a mate. Things don't always go as planned.

Emma Labelle is a human CL, Consortium Liaison, for the LMC, Lionshead Mining Consortium. Due to some trouble with two crews that led to the formation of the Ridgebacks, Emma is sent in to observe and report back to LMC. What she isn't suppose to do is take sides or fall for the Alpha.

Garrett Hoffman has just been made alpha of a rag tag bunch of bear shifters who work as miners. Because they came from different clans it's his job to pull them together into a unit. Emma Labelle is the community liaison for the company . Its her job to make sure the shifters are working well together and report any that get out of line or hurt any humans.
The bear shifters in this new series are a rebellious and hard bunch. Fights break out at the slightest provocation . Our hero has been thrown in at the deep end by his bosses. Now he must prove he is capable. Our heroine is fearless . For a human woman to stand up to huge bear shifters tames guts.
I'm sure this will be an addictive series. I loved this one.

This is a bear shifter book, but is different from most of Bear shifter books that I have read. Garrett is the Alpha of the Jade Crew, a group of miners that was left after two groups got in a big fight . Emma is the Community Liaison from LMC, who was sent to supervise Garrett's Jade Crew. They have lots of fighting and mistrust among the crew members. Will this be the end of Garrett's crew? Is Emma, Garrett's mate? I received this book for free in return for an honest review. I really enjoyed reading it! I am looking forward to reading more about some of the other members of this crew.

Really good story

We've got several things going right for this book: 1) smart, no-nonsense heroine; 2) big, brawny hero who's not a womanizing jerk; 3) smooth pacing; 4) natural sounding dialog; 5) clean editing; 6) no cliffhanger; 8) mature main characters. I have grown tired of "new adult" romances wherein the characters have all the emotional maturity of hormonal teeny boppers. There's more, but typing on my Kindle is a hassle. Suffice it to say, if you like shifter romances, then you'll like this one. Well done!

Leadership at its Finest

Garret is a first time alpha and has been given a team of survivors from two disbanded teams . Getting them to come together as a new team is practically impossible. Throw in a beautiful woman, who is the liaison for their employers, Garret knows she is his mate. This makes an interesting dynamic along with everything else. To find out what happens, read this book. Enjoy!

Standalone book in a shifter series.

Kindle unlimited book with no cliffhanger. This was a great start to a new series. The alpha bear shifter cannot remember his past. He's put in charge of two broken crews.. When she comes alone to watch after them, and make sure he can keep things in line, they find theirselves in a situation that could make or break them both. Can they overcome all of the challenges and be together? Cannot wait to read the next character's story!!

Mates come calling

Take two left over bear crews, that dislike each other, and a newly picked alpha and you're looking at trouble. Throw into the mix a no nonsense female consortium liaison to the mix to stir things up. What happens when alpha and liaison realize their mates? You'll have to read to find out.

Loved it

I really enjoyed this book. I loved Emma and her Sass and there seems to be so much about Garrett that has yet to he discovered. Hopefully we will learn more about him in up coming books.. However, The story didn't suffer at all for the lack of info on Garret. I also look forward to learning more about Evan.

Had a enjoyable time reading Alpha's Bear. Garret and Emma are truly made for each other. Garret has his work cut out getting Jade crew working together. They are getting there but you have to wander about Evan unless he meets his mate to calm his bear. Will we find out why Darrens Bear is really mad at Russell. A great book, looking forward to reading Haunted Bear. Thank you Amelia.

I have only read co authored books by Ms Jade and kept meaning to try one of her series.
Glad I did, I enjoyed this world of Genesis Valley and will happily see where it goes. Looks like a good background story evolving with the other members of Jade Crew.
Reminded me of TS Joyce's Gray Back Bears world which I loved.

Funny, romantic , real life
