Work of Art ~ The Collection is a truly emotional and heartfelt read.
Max and Ava are both passionate, lovable and relatable characters that will touch your heart with their love story.

With The Collection author Ruth Clampett has given us some more of Max's POV. Loved it, I laughed and smiled with how passionate and possessive Max is, there's no doubt Ava is the love of his life and that they are true soulmates.

I highly recommend this set of books and it would make a beautiful gift for anyone who loves a well written contemporary romance.

Ruth Clampett!!! What a GIFT!
‘Work of Art-The Inspiration’, the first story in this trilogy, features an eccentric painter, Maxwell Caswell, who captures the heart of Ava Jacobs. They meet at an art show in New York. She is there to help her boss and friend, Adam, her first big break after spending several years in his print shop. Max storms in having a typical Max tantrum and whisks Ava away from the show needing to escape the pressure of sales that crush his artistic spirit and bring out his dark side. They have an instant attraction that sparks and swirls at the first kiss of their hands like Van Gogh’s Starry Night. The trilogy takes us from this moment through their friendship, to Santa Fe, and to working with eachother on a book, and eventually to Paris where a new chapter of their lives is born.

I loved the Work of Art Trilogy as it was, but to have the collection with the added 4th installment is just that. A gift. A girt of seeing a glimpse of the male point of view through both Max and his father Cas in outtakes taken from all three of the books. We also get to see MAx in Therapy with Cara which also provides more insight to what makes him tick. The first three books are in Ava's, the female lead's POV, and these books appeal to women and most of us don't understand the male mind filling us with more questions than answers, so to have some of those questions answered gives the Work of Art experience an extra gloss making it that much brighter.
Max's mind is and perception is so unique, I love having descriptions to illustrate how his mind works. How he sees the world around him and interprets it through the way he loves and the way he creates his art.

Favorite Max POV quotes:
"...ll the colors that surround us glow brighter, almost psychedelic."
"She is touching my art-her scent, her scent, her breath becoming part of it. I've always loved Ava, but now it's beyond me not to have her in every way."
"My Ava."
:She's the first person besides family who really understands my idiosyncrasies, and it gives me hope."
"Without Cara I wouldn't have Ava. She conjures the magic that keeps me from scaring my Ava away."
"He sat next to my baby, and I could see the heat rise off of him every tie he looked at her."
"You are a work of art, my Mona Lisa and my Botticelli Venus all wrapped up into a breathtaking masterpiece."
"Ava isn't here to ground me, and pull me back to reality. Knowing she's gone leaves me in my dark place, as if the insulation I've been wrapped in is shredding and the world is falling away. A wave of panic unfurls inside my gut."
"Sometimes I can smell her fear..."
From his dream: "We cannot wait for the clouds to lift, or the sea to calm. We must love each other as if each breath will be our last. Your heart knows the answer, Max. Step carefully, purposefully...our story is already written and each moment that passes carries us closer...either to our beginning, or to our end."
Cas POV quotes:
"I wondered what was wrong with him...he was so damn different."
"It took someone as brave and believing as Ava to finally give him a chance at real love, and now he's losing it. It's fucking heartbreaking to even think about...my idea takes shape."
"I'm here for him, Liz. I'm going to take care of our boy."

And the moment Cas gives Max a scenario that he could understand when in New York. LOVED!!!
"This is, by far, the nicest thing he's ever done for me. It's not just the place, it's the way he's shown me the answer and put his faith in me."

Thank You Ruth for this collection!

Ummm...well let's start by saying I heard good and bad things about this book. I stayed neutral until I got my hands on it. I mean it is about art and I love that but damn can a girl get some smut like seriously. I just don't know what else to say about this one...I leave it here like this since the book ended abruptly too...

Yes! Yes! That is how you follow up with a book like book 1. I loved this one a whole lot! Ava and Max you intrigue me and I love it! The chemistry is so right now and it could be anyone quite frankly. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

Definitely not what I thought it was gonna be but my oh my the feels! I am glad I took a chance on this series and i came out okay. I don't agree with alot of what some people told me about this series but I do with a few of them about the negative. Although a good read it does have its boring points and is hard to keep going on through. I guess what I am saying is if your patient maybe you could get into this series and enjoy it.

Ruth Clampett has the loveliest way with words. I enjoy her work so much. This collection is no exception, and we get to hear more of Max and his father. Max and Ava are one of the most captivating couples I have ever read, and the secondary characters are excellent, too.

This series of 4 books in one by Ruth Clampett was a wonderful story about a girl who loves the Art World; paintings, artists, art galleries, art museums, and gets emersed into the art scene by falling in love with a up and coming new artist with a dark and deep hidden secret. Travel thru the art world from L.A to NYC, Barcelona, Spain and Paris, France, feel a part of the guided tours of artists such as Picasso, Monet and visit historical and magnificent landmarks, museums, and sites all in Ruth Clampett's Works of Art, bring your passport and fall in love.. Thank you for the journey, I loved it Ruth!!!

A stroke of beauty

…creating a work of art

In a life driven by passion, famed artist Maxfield Caswell lives in a world of brilliant color and drama, pushing his art and affairs to his emotional edge. He’s stunning, charismatic and celebrated in the art world, but are the trappings of fame also destroying him?

Ava Jacobs is diligently working toward an art career of her own when she’s swept off her feet by the self-destructive artist — creating a world of sensuality and all-consuming love. But will the pain of the past and turmoil of the present make their future uncertain? From desire and mystery, to a muse that almost slips away, The Work of Art Collection will be the inspiration that has you breathless for the unveiling of their final masterpiece.

Series of this type remind me of the Gabriel series by Sylvain Reynard - a beautiful erotic tale of two people falling in love, that is until you realize that there is so much competition in the art world and jealousy is rampant no matter where you turn. The Work of Art Collection is the combination of the four parts of the series: The Inspiration, The Unveiling, The Masterpeice and Liz's Boys with an added bonus, following Maxwell Caswell, an artist who despises fame, and Ava Jacobs, an upcoming art student graduate wanting to climb up the ladder, as they realize that they are falling for one another. These characters are both strong and defeated by their demons, they need each to bring out the best and yet they have so much to learn. Max and Ana's chemistry was tangible and slow burning i the sense that we weren't rushed through the process, but rather slowly seduced. As the first novels that I've read by Ruth Clampett, I've absolutely enjoyed every step of this journey - it was dark, seductive and it took its time to tell you its story. If there's one thing I can tell readers, it's that you can't expect a fast paced novel where everything happens from the very beginning - this is one novel that takes the time to weave a great storyline. Ruth Clampett is one author that I'll be looking forward to find what she will be releasing in 2016.

Work of Art: The Collection by Ruth Clampett was originally published in 2014-2015 as a trilogy (The Inspiration, The Unveiling and The Masterpiece). The trilogy has been bundled into one long book PLUS bonus scenes from different POVs and add ons! The best part is that you don’t have to chew your nails over the cliff hangers of books one and two, because the final book of the series is published and included in this new offering.

Ruth Clampett’s writing in Work of Art is incredibly detailed and descriptive. Right away my senses were on overload. The characters are well developed, and I felt like I personally knew all the characters. Ms. Clampett provides readers with great details about the art world—both from the artist’s perspective as well as from gallery owners and other “business-end” groups. I loved all the references to classic art pieces, and the quotes at the start of each chapter were fabulous. The behind-the-scenes view of the crazy, political art business was fascinating.

Ava is the narrator of Work of Art. She is my kind of girl; she loves art and literature. When life turned sour on her, she moved cross country and with the help of classmate, Brian, she made lemonade out of her lemons. She got a new family, an education, and she has a budding career at a LA art gallery. Ava’s youth and inexperience makes her a naive when it comes to men and their intentions. Will she be able to handle the edgy, dark side of her eventual fame?

Max Caswell is a tormented and troubled artist who has found his muse in Ava Jacobs. He is an extremist; he is, at times, dark and brooding and at other times, he is charming and seemingly light-hearted. He struggles with some mental-health challenges that are exacerbated by a rough past. These issues hinder his personal life as well as his career. Juxtapose to his inner demons is Max’s light-hearted, handsome, party-boy, celebrity persona to which women flock.

The secondary characters are incredible. They are all richly developed. I loved Jess the lesbian artist best friend to both Ava and Max. Dylan, Max’s agent, is a dichotomy. Sometimes he seems to have Max’s best interest at heart, and at other times he seems to sabotage Ava and Max at every turn. Speaking of sabotage, the string of men who are “helping” Ava with her career (and secretly hoping to help her into bed) is amazing. They’re characters you love to hate even though they’re sort of caricatures.

Ava’s and Max’s story is painted in broad brush strokes from Los Angeles to New Mexico to New York to Paris. They have a unique, flirty friendship which blossoms into a passionate love affair that is tested by betrayal from seemingly trustworthy acquaintances. If that isn’t enough, the stigma of dating a colleague threatens to ruin their careers and subsequently their relationship. Thankfully, Ava and Max are surrounded by some seriously supportive friends and family who help them find their way. Fans of the new adult genre will love the dark and seriously angsty rollercoaster relationship. Art enthusiasts will fawn over the generous details of this four-star read.

Wort of Art - The Collection was a great romance to read.
I would honestly rate this collection as a 3 but because of the depth the writer took to give us a true an true story where we got to live the day to day life with all of the characters and for the addition of the epilogue, and the male POV's at the end of the book I rated it 3.5 stars.
I quite enjoyed how she let the story grow and did not make it so steadfast, but having said all of this I found the story to be annoyingly long, and found myself skipping through parts.
I love a good romance story but Max was a little too depressingly clingy for me, and Ava.... was just a little too naive for me.
I have sat on this review for a few days because it's been difficult to figure out if I liked the book or not as a whole.
I have come to the conclusion that I did half way enjoy it, but I love strong men and I love strong women.... These two characters were neither. Their relationship and relationships with others were very melodramatic, obsessive and at times just annoying.
Ava is a dick tease but at the same time she doesn't want to be fucked, she wants flowers and a bed.
There are so many parts of this collection that I loved and hated.....
Even though I skipped through some chapters, that felt repetitive or could've honestly been left out, I don't feel as though I missed anything by doing so.
The twists and turns that we get throughout this collection i quite thoroughly enjoyed and never saw coming, but the turn out was always the same.
I feel like this book could've been so much more had Max not been such a crazy, dramatic, almost teenager of a man..... and had Ava just straight up left his ass. I felt like I was reading a high-school romance and not a romance about two adults in the business world.
I almost felt like Max was in for committing suicide with all of his breakdowns that he had and just because of how his character was portrayed from the get go.
However, the ending was just what I needed. These two characters finally come together, unite and learn how to live with the quirkiness of each other.
The epilogue was splendid, and the extra scenes that we got at the end were a delight. I loved being able to get into Max's head, along with his Fathers, and I felt quite complete after receiving those little tid bits.
I loved that this collection was about an artist and how we got to delve into the various techniques, showings and etc. It is not very often that we get to read a romance of a couple that isn't some alpha business man, and because of this I stuck with this book until the end.....
I plan on revisiting this collection in the future to see if maybe my feelings change...
But right now I just want to go join Max in his art room, throw some paint, roll around with him and forget about it.

Let me tell you right from the start, this is a collection you need to read. This is a beautifully written story that while it does start off slow because it’s setting up everything, it eventually moves onto becoming a story that will capture your attention and won’t let go till you are left gasping at the end of each part and diving into the next and ultimately finishing the collection with a satisfied sigh.

Stories like these don't come along very often and when they do you treasure them. I adored Max and Ava. This was a couple who go through a lot over the course of the three parts but come out better people and you will too for taking the journey with them.

What I really enjoyed with this story was the sweeping saga of it. It doesn’t all get wrapped up in a neat bow by the end of the first part, it's a trilogy and so much happens in these books that you could be forgiven for thinking it’s a much larger book overall. But the author manages to move the story along without making it feel rushed and you get to enjoy and lose yourself in the storyline.

In Maxwell Caswell our hero, we have the tortured artist soul. He is an up and coming star in the art world but seems hell bent on destroying every opportunity he has. Fame seems to be eating him alive and there’s no one around to help him. Or there want till he meets his muse Ava.

Ava Jacobs our heroine is steadily working her way up the art world ladder. Her life is good. A job she loves, great friends who are more like family and the freedom to work towards her goal of writing for an art magazine. Ava is working at an art show when her life is changed forever. That’s when she meets Max and things will never be the same again.

I’m not going to give too much away, this is a story that you will want to enjoy without knowing all the spoilers. But what I will say is that it’s emotionally engaging read that you will not want to put down once you start.

I finished this collection with a big fat happy contented sigh. The epilogue is just……wonderful is the only word I have for it. You will not be disappointed how this book ends. I have unashamedly fallen in love with Max and Ava.

With the addition of the new material told from Max's POV, it just makes this story even more memorable. It was definitely one of my favourite reads for the year.

I want to say a huge thank you to the author for bringing these two to the page. I hope my words have conveyed my gratitude.

(Note : originally this collection was released separately and has now been made into a collection with extras that take it to a new level.)

I had read each of these stories separately when they originally came out, and I fell in love after the first chapter in The Inspiration Work of Art book #1; I knew I was reading something very special. This story was beautifully written and at the same time emotionally exhausting as you become apart of Max and Ava’s journey. Book #2 The Unveiling; Ava’s and Max careers are moving forward…but their past come crashing around them, but you have to wait and read Book #3 The Master piece to find out if their love can survive. The Master piece is a beautiful finish to Max and Ava’s story, and you will be very surprised by the person that helps them both, realize that they each have issues and insecurities, and they are strong enough to work through them. They must never forget to rely on the help and support given to them from family and friends. I loved the Quotes that came at the beginning of each chapter, and the passion you gave to the art and artist in the here and now and too the masters that came before: Now we come to Book 4 The Extras & Liz’s boys; I did not think I could love this story more than I already did, but you proved me wrong…reading from Max’s point of view, it shows a deeper side of his love for Ava and that he truly was aware of how irrational his perception of situation and his feeling could be. He was fighting hard to keep himself in check so he would not push and loose Ava all together because of his jealousy he felt toward other’s showed interest in Ava and her work. Also I came away with a new found respect for Max’s father; I think you will under stand what I mean when you finish the whole collection. Thank You Ruth Clampett; for sharing your talent and a beautiful story, that I will always keep close to my heart and will read again and again. I am so happy I found you and your books. I can’t to see and read what is next from you.

What a lovely story! Ruth Clampett has given us compelling characters, a fully developed supporting cast, believable storylines, and an imaginative look at the world of art with this trilogy.

Max is an internationally known artist, who is almost as famous for his partying lifestyle and the wake of "art sluts" who trail him everywhere, as he is for the paintings he creates. He is volatile, easily angered, and often acts without considering the potential consequences to his career. He meets Ava at an opening, and is instantly intrigued when she defends his artistic point of view during an argument.

Ava works at a gallery, but dreams of being a writer within the world of art. She is smart, independent, and passionate about all things, but especially art and the family she's created around herself. She's immediately drawn to ridiculously handsome Max, but has no desire to become another notch in his notorious bedpost. When Ava is asked to write a book about Max's work, she's thrilled by the opportunity, but uneasy about collaborating with the man she finds so attractive, yet unpredictable.

As they work together, Ava begins to see beyond the face Max shows the world, and more importantly, the cause of his volatility. And Max finds that Ava is far more than the beautiful, intelligent woman he wants to bed.

Is love really enough when there are so many heartbreaking challenges along the way?

I loved this book! The author's treatment of Max's issues was compelling and compassionate. I marveled at Ava's strength and ambition, and found myself cheering for her when she suffered through self-doubts. The epilogue was fantastic, telling Max's POV through several scenes within each book. I definitely recommend this series, and look forward to reading more of Ruth Clampett!

Ava Jacobs loves art and is doing everything in her power to find a satisfying career in the art world. She is working a show in New York and meets Maxfield Caswell who is a bad boy in the art world. He sweeps her off her feet, but then ignores her when a pretty face shows up. To add complexity to her life she has been contacted by Jonathan Alistair, the publisher of Art+trA magazine. He meets her for lunch and offers her a job writing the text for an art book of Max Caswell. She is stunned, but accepts. Not getting any signals from Max, she is pursued by Jonathan, but realizes too late that Max is interested in her. Max does not know how to have a meaningful relationship and falls apart when she realizes that Ava sees him at the absolute lowest point in his life.

I’ve really tried Ava, God only knows how hard I’ve tried. But I can’t fight it anymore….I don’t have it in me to deny how I feel anymore. – Max

Max, being in love with you is like being on a theme park ride. Thrilling and harrowing….and I had to wait in line so damn long to get on. – Ava

What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail? – Anonymous

This is a very emotional read. I loved reading the complete collection and the bonus material which repeats some critical scenes from the other point of view! It was AMAZING! I totally felt Ava’s pain, how she had feelings for Max, but felt he didn’t feel the same way and how she fell for Jonathan since he could say all the right things. How she felt when Max became so over possessive and unstable. It was such a roller-coaster with so many twists and turns. Seriously one of the best reads of 2015.

I truly was blown away by this book. It is an emotional read and the characters will grab you and not let go. Max and Ava are passionate, spirited, and purposeful people whose story is very understandable. You can relate to how they feel and understand the problems that crop up in their lives. As the story unfolds, you cannot help but want to give Ava a hug or take Max and give him a smack in the head and then let him know everything will be ok. Because these are characters that you find yourself immersed in; the plot flows and you cannot stop reading this story until it is finished.
There are some twists and turns and you are there until the very end and oh my, does the author get you riled up but the ending is sweet and I loved the epilogue. Nicely done! Max and Ava are definitely soul mates who belong together. .For all the troubles that they had and the difficulty made the ending much sweeter. I recommend this book very much and I will now keep this author as an auto buy.

I liked the story as a whole. It did seem slow at points but just push through and you'll be rewarded. What I loved most about this bundle is that you aren't dangling on the edge of your seat waiting for the next story to come out! Multiple POVs is a plus to me and there are some additions added to the bundle. The story of Ava (h) and Max (H) blossoms and develops steadily through the entire series. Their story touched on things that interest and are important to me: love in the workplace, finding yourself and having to overcome the people that want your love to fail (and will do plenty to make that happen). To me this isn't something you can devour in one sitting so I would set aside maybe a few days to enjoy this. Not being super familiar with Ms. Clampett after reading this I will be more likely to search her out for new reads (not one-click yet).

A lot of readers have been into Ruth Clampett for a while and bought each of these books separately. I did not. I read the three volumes of the box set one after the other and was moved by the difficult relationship of Max and Ava as well as the difficult challenges they faced as individuals. The story was slow at first. . . but when it picked up, I wasn't quite sure how it was going to go or where hints were going to be hits rather than misses. If you have a type of romance--is LA your thing? the art world? the challenges of mental illness and loss? the older Alpha? They are all here with even a little bit of comedy thrown in. . .(Jonathan deserved it after all). Enjoy these books. I've saved the extras included in the box set for later while I sigh about the original novels. This is a couple I'd like to visit again.

I am so excited about these books compiled as a collection with the added bonus at the end! This series touched my heart on so many levels and taught me to love through challenge and adversity. I found myself reflecting on this love story A LOT! When a story stays with you for a year starting with the original book, you save a place in your "reading heart" for it.

Maxfield is a man challenged with heart squeezing, real life challenges. Through it all Ava stands her ground after she realizes there is work to be done on their relationship. Work that most people would give up on and say 'this is not worth it'. Ava is a strong hero and will fight for Maxfield and their bond and love. Beautiful story! <3

I am so glad I read this as a collection. each book is great on their own, but I would have had one of those moments where you wonder how it could end there. I loved the collection as a whole. It was made even better with a few povs from Max. I had quite a few times I wanted to shake Ava. Jonathon? Really, she didn't see that coming? I love that regardless of the mistakes made by both Ava and Max, as well as life struggles they were able to over come it all together. Everything made them stronger. It was a wonderful HEA!

I really enjoyed this story. I finished it one weekend. I'm glad I got to read all three stories together. I've had the the books on my TBR for awhile now. Reading Ava and Maxwell's passionate journey was quite a roller coaster for them. Both are strong and determined people who need to learn to compromise if they want to be together.

This was my first read by this author. I definitely want to check out the rest of books.

I love reading boxed sets because you get the entire story and can read from the start to end without waiting on the next book. This boxed set is absolutely a fantastic read.
Max and Ava's story is one for the books. Drama filled, heartfelt, loving, very steamy, and I love the happy ending. The paint brush scene is very combustible. I enjoyed this when it was a story and I fell in love again reading it as a book.

It's for the fourth part, which I thought was unnecessary. the story jump from time to time, indicating this fourth part was an afterthought to supply the box edition. I did not get an a-ha moment reading this - what to be inspired if we all knew what happened in the third book?

Loved hearing more from Max and Cas! Wonderful collection and another great read from Ruth. Looking forward to what she does next!
