I must stop reading series out of order. I must stop reading series out of order. I must stop reading series out of order.

I had the pleasure of reading Forever Summer along with creating some graphics for the release and although I did buy the prior books in this series, I hadn’t yet had a chance to read them. So I went into the story of Adam and Ellie blindly.

I’ve really enjoyed the experience of reading CJ’s books. They have this sweet quality to them that just leaves you with a huge smile on your face. There is a bit of drama, but you are left with this feeling of pure happiness as you sit back and experience the characters falling in love. Ellie & Adam’s friends to lover’s story was enjoyed from start to finish. There is something about the whole best friends who grow up and fall in love that always gets me. It’s one of my favorite themes to read and Forever Summer delivered big time!

Finally the last of the series is released! This is the fourth full length novel or seventh in the series of the Summer series. I read the entire series last summer and have been anxiously waiting for this one to release to end the series. Then again, maybe there will be more but there has now been a story about all the key characters so I think this is the end.

It seems fitting to close the series with Adam and Ellie's story. They have been present throughout the entire series, often offering us comic relief. It was inevitable that these two would come together.

At first it took me a while to get back in to the series and I was thinking that perhaps after all these books the story had no spark left. This was mainly due to the flashback scenes via Ellie's diary. As soon as Ellie and Adam were face to face my fears subsided and I was along for the ride.

What I liked about their chemistry is that it was not riddled with as much obvious angst as some of the others. Due to their existing relationship, the connection was based on a history of understanding and hijinx. Yes there is still some of the angst you expect from Duggan but you also see the deep rooted friendship that starts it all.

Whenever a series comes to an end it is hard to say goodbye to the characters. I will miss Onslow, the Onslow boys and endless stream of romance that has occurred. I can only hope Duggan has some more small towns with hot boys to write about so that I can partake in the future.

What did I think of the book!? What did I think!?

I'm not sure? maybe how perfect a finish it was to a very special series.

Stumbling across this book series is probably the happiest accident I've ever had. The worst part was having to wait an entire year, but alas we cannot live in book world constantly life does go on around us. In the end CJ gave it her all and by joe was it good enough! It makes having to wait seem like it was only yesterday I was Reading Chris' story.

Adam and Ellie to boisterous, stubborn peas in a pod! With their trusty third musketeer Tess to keep them both in check

This book had everything I wanted it to have plenty of laughs, plenty of tears, a little snicker here and there lots of sass, an intense coming together and a happy ending

Oh and 'a nice ass'

Gosh do I love the way in which CJ writes, every book brings a huge wave of nostalgia with it. Even despite barely being a teenager in the 90's and living in the UK. The simplicity of the time is what gets me, I love being transported back

But most of all I love the way in which she brings every book to life.

I'd love to say more about this story but seen as its only been out for two days I don't want to spoil it for the long awaited fans of the series

Let's just say, every little thing she does is magic

Here's to seeing what she has up her sleeves next!

I really wanted to like this book. I expected to like it because Adam and Ellie were a highlight of the earlier books. But I was disappointed unfortunately.
I agreed with Ellie every time she called herself a bad friend. And every time she said she was going to be better ... she acted like a bad friend again. I flat out didn't like her in her own book.
There was not enough page time with Adam and Ellie together, which surprised me. I hated that she had moved away from her friends, family and Adam ... why?
I will say I liked the beginning. It started well. Then ... not so much.

The Summer Series is one of my most loved contemporary romance series. I have been waiting forever for this book! Every time the release date got pushed back I wept inside so I was more than happy to finally get my hands on it! It was every bit as swoon-worthy as the other titles in the series.

The Onslow gang (boys) is honestly the best <3 The storyline might have been cheesy but I gobbled it all up. I was so on board with the friends-to-lovers trope. It worked out so beautifully.

From the beginning, we know Ellie has developed more-than-friends feelings for Adam. Who better to fall in love with than the boy who you've always loved and who's always been by your side? Seriously, Adam was perfect. I really enjoyed watching Ellie fret over her complicated feelings. It made for some hilarious moments while building up the anticipation for when everything gets out in the open.

Ellie and Adam forever~ I remember feeling some disbelief when it was announced the last story would be about these two best friends. I guess the possibility was always there but it just never crossed my mind. I'm glad it did for Ms. Duggan because boy did Ellie and Adam have the best chemistry and banter. Even more so because they've been friends since forever. I was a bit miffed it took so long for them to act on their evolved feelings but their playful interactions and simmering connection more than made up for it. Such delicious build up ;)

Not to be insensitive but the big Adam secret and Ellie drama were very anticlimactic. It dragged down the story for me. Communication is basic people! Especially when you've been BFFs since forever. I'm not sure what I was expecting but just...more. More in the way that if it put the characters on edge and made them uneasy then these secrets must have been a big deal, right? Unfortunately (or fortunately?) both were short-lived. Both concluded with satisfying answers so I guess that's good.

The concluding chapters felt a bit rushed but I can't help with how much I love the Onslow gang! Every single one of them is special. Why do their stories have to end... *wails uncontrollably*

The Summer Series will forever be in my heart. I read all the stories in ebook format but I think it's time I get myself some physical copies! I very highly recommend picking up this series if you're a romance lover. Trust me, you'll fall in love <3

Everything I wanted and more. I loved the way this story was written, showing how strong their relationship is and how they were always there for each other. I loved Ellie and Adam. I loved seeing Allie grow. I loved seeing all the other characters from past books. I just loved the whole book. I laughed and swooned and it left me with the biggest smile on my face. The book was perfect, although I wouldn't object to an epilogue ( or short story of a certain wedding). Its very bittersweet saying goodbye to these characters and this world but I'm so happy with where the characters all are. This series was the first NA books I read and I was a little sceptical going into the first book but I'm so happy I gave it a chance because it is my all time favourite book series and I would recommend everyone give it a go. And I dare you not to fall in love with these characters.

I really like the series, but admittedly this was my least favorite. The book seemed to rush really quickly at the end, there was no epilogue like the other books had, and there were side stories that didn't seem to wrap up as satisfyingly as they should have.

For example, Megsy. I get that she was supposed to be there to create conflict and romantic tension between Ellie and Adam, but her character seemed... off. She mentions having been in Adam's room the weekend before, but we never get an explanation of why she had been there. She comes up to Ellie during the party and tells her to fuck off, then Ellie finds her passed out in Adam's bedroom. Again, no explanation of how she got there, why Adam didn't drive her home, etc. And then after that, she dropped off the face of the Earth. Didn't have a satisfying ending for her character.

Another example: Adam's big secret about his mom. His explanation for keeping it a secret from Ellie was kind of dumb, in my opinion. They're best friends. They supposedly tell each other everything. When he revealed it, it honestly felt anticlimactic because... well... it just felt so unrealistic. If they're that close, he probably wouldn't have hesitated to tell Ellie all about it as soon as he found out. But, of course, the book needed its angst, so I guess that was one way to have it?

Another example: I would have liked to see more interactions with Adam's mom. She was a big part of Ellie's life; I think it would have made her side story a lot more effective if she and Ellie had shared some moments together (besides the running-into-each-other-at-the-hospital scene). Not to mention that we hardly see much of Ellie's interaction with her parents, aside from her taking her mom to a doctor's appointment.

Overall, it was a good story. Really liked how this was a from-friends-to-lovers novel. Adam and Ellie are perfect for each other, and I'm glad they ended up together. :)

As Ellie is settling into her new life away from Onslow, she realizes she misses it more than she thought she would. But it’s not just the place, it’s who. She misses Adam, her childhood best friend who’s she’s in love with but she chickened out of telling him on New Years.

When the gang decides to throw Tess & Toby a surprise engagement party, Ellie makes it her mission to tell Adam her feelings are more than that of a best friend. But with his tense mood and secretive attitude, Ellie doesn’t get the chance. After the weekend Adam takes her home and things escalate but neither says what was needed to be said..

I have been waiting on Forever Summer for quite some time. Obviously Ellie and Adam have both been pretty main characters since book 1, The Boys of Summer, as they are both best friends with Tess. In The Boys of Summer Ellie and Stan started dating. I was surprised to see them go their separate ways as the books progressed but was pleasantly surprised to see Ellie and Adam draw towards each other. I do so love a best friends-turned-more story.

Ellie is a party girl. She's been known to get trashed. And even though we found out in The Boys of Summer that they're mostly not true, Ellie's always had rumors going around about how easy she is. That being said, Ellie's probably the character I related to the least, but wanted her happy ending the most. Ellie definitely isn't a perfect character. She has a habit of being way too much in her own head and a bit self absorbed. But it's easy to not be concerned with the goings on of others when they're not open with you about what actually is going on with them.

Adam apparently has a lot on his plate. Yet this is one of those situations where everyone around him knows the deal but Ellie. He's hanging out with an ex-girlfriend a lot. And he's been kind of sketchy when it comes to being there for Ellie like he used to be. I wish there had been more discussion about Adam's military involvement, but I guess since Adam wasn't actually narrating and that would have been time spent away from Ellie it makes sense that it wasn't really a focus of this book.

I wasn't thrilled about the flashbacks and diary sections of Forever Summer, but I guess I can see why they were central to the story. Necessary to understand all of Adam and Ellie's history.

Forever Summer reminds me of the CJ Duggan writing that I prefer and enjoy. I didn't enjoy the Paradise series that she did near as much. The pacing was pretty quick and I found that I didn't want to put Forever Summer down even when I had to. I will say that considering Ellie's history, I was impressed with how non-graphic Forever Summer was. Yet the amount of f-bombs were above and beyond. I'm not sure if that's a cultural thing or what, but I've found this to be the case in most of her books.

When all is said and done, I've really enjoyed the Summer series. Forever Summer might be my least favorite in the series, but considering how highly I've rated the others that's not too much of a surprise. I still feel like Forever Summer deserves 4 Stars. Have you read Forever Summer? What did you think? Let me know!

Forever Summer  is the last of the Summer series. Lets all just take a moment of silence to grieve this wonderful world in a time and place where things where simpler.

*bows head*

Okay. So. Where to begin?

Ever since book one, Ellie and Adam have been my favourite relationship to read about. I was so excited when I found out their relationship was going to become something romantic! (I wonder what their ship name would be? Ellam? Adie? I think I like Adie. It's adorable, just like them!)

There are so many wonderfully adorable moments shared between the two that had me smiling. And then there were the moments that were just purely Ellie-and-Adam that had me cracking up and getting me funny looks on the bus for seeming like a crazy person. As always, Duggan delivers a little something for everyone with spunk and an addictive nature.

The only criticism I have with Ellie and Adam's story is that everything was chugging along nicely, then come to the last, maybe 10%(?), of the novel everything kind of rushes to a head and then resolves quickly. It through me a bit, and is the only reason that I couldn't give it a 5 out of 5.

When I sadly, and finally, put Forever Summer to bed, done and dusted, I was Skyping my best friend back in Aussie, and I accidentally called him Adam... That's not even close to his real name. That's how engrossed I had become in the story. I just couldn't let it go. There could possibly be something said here about subconscious linking, that I just can't even think about right now...

Long story short, read Forever Summer! And if you haven't read the other books in the series yet - GET ON IT! You can check out the reset of my reviews of the Summer series if you need any more convincing as to why you need to read this amazing Australian summer romance series.

I love to read C.J. Duggan's books. They are comfort reads for me when I need a feel good sweet romantic story that I know will bring a smile to my face every time. There isn't a lot of depth to Forever Summer. You aren't going to find any deep issues or gripping character analysis here. But I thoroughly enjoyed this story of two lifelong friends who come to see that they are in love. I love the Aussie-ness of Duggan's characters. I love the banter between Adam and Ellie. It is obvious that these two have been best friends for almost their entire lives. Their interactions are the highlight of this story. The secondary characters have always been a high point of each book in the series, making it exciting to see when each of these secondary characters get their own story. I loved to see all the couples from the previous Summer books show up in this one and work with each other throughout the story. I thought that Ellie was a good first person narrator for the story, although, to be truthful, I was a little worried that she seemed like a raging alcoholic in the first half of the story. I didn't find her actions to be all that endearing during that time. But overall she was a fun mixture of confidence and insecurity that kept me interesting in staying with the story until the Happily Ever After. Who'd have thought that the music of Starship could be so romantic? Total awesomeness. I have loved each book in this series. C.J. Duggan is an always-buy for me. Love her writing. Four stars!

This review and many more can be found on my blog: Feed Your Fiction Addiction

I can hardly believe that this series is actually over. This was one of the first NA series that I truly loved – the first book had me hooked, and I’ve enjoyed them all! This final installment gave me what I’ve been waiting for since the very first book, though – Ellie and Adam. I’ve always loved their banter, the strength of their friendship and the pull between them (even when they were “only friends”). Best friends to lovers has always been a favorite trope of mine, and this book was pretty much pitch perfect for me. The only minor complaint I had was the secret between Ellie and Adam that kept them apart. Not only was I frustrated with Ellie for being petty and cutting off contact with Adam (without ever even trying to hear his side of things), but I didn’t believe that all of Ellie’s friends would agree to keep her in the dark about the misunderstanding. Still, that was a relatively minor complaint, and this book reminded me why I’ve loved the series all along (I think it was my favorite since the very first book!) I give this book 5/5 stars. And the series is a definite All-Time Favorite!

I really liked this series. It was fun and really cute. I was really looking forward to this book. Adam and Ellie are two of my favorite characters of the series. I felt like I waited forever for this to come out!

The story was just as good as the others although there was a lot of angst. I would have preferred more romantic moments but hey, this is more like a guilty pleasure kind of book. I just wanted more Adam and Ellie; not Ellie constantly whining over Adam. That was the majority of the book though. Ellie just pined over Adam. It was fine though. I like them as a couple. They really are perfect for each other and their connection is strong. They really just needed to talk to each other! For being best friends they really didn't talk about anything.

This series is pure fluff and I love it. It's totally worth it for a day when you are super bored and just need to be distracted with an angsty romance. I highly recommend this series for that. I stayed up until 1:30 in the morning reading this book. Once I got into the story-much like the other books-I did not want to put it down. I did put this on hold because I wanted to read other things plus I was super busy but I flew through this. Like I said, it's a great book for a distraction from reality.

Forever Summer (Summer, #4) by C.J. Duggan

I can't give this book anything else than five stars. I'm sad I went through this whole book in two days. It's over. It's really over. I'm never going to read about these characters again and I'm not going to lie: It hurts. I came to love these characters over the past year. All of them. They're all so different and have such great dynamics with each other. They're honestly a group of friends I wish I was a part of. This was the first new adult series I fell in love with and up until now the only one. I don't know if I'll ever love a series as much as I have loved this one.

The Summer series has brought me so much joy. Thank you, C.J. Duggan. You truly created a masterpiece.
