Deep Blue Truth

Rate this book
Nick Kozlovsky is not a guy who gives up easily. He grew up on the tough side of town and never met his father. His childhood consisted of an alcoholic mother with a series of step-fathers who beat him until he learned how to fight back. As a policeman, he had plenty of built-in sensors to detect violent criminal behavior. Nick’s dream to become a police officer is realized, and even though he’s only a few years into the job, the young patrolman has a lot of heart. He’s happy with the job, but his personal life is in shambles. There are women, but, he has never fallen in love. All of his friends have made the trip to the alter, but Nick soothes his loneliness in ways that aren’t exactly healthy.A random trip to the emergency room changes the course of Nick’s life. Meeting Doctor Grace Robertson energizes him. Not only does he admire her, he is convinced she could be the one for him. For the first time in his young life, he has to lay his heart on the line. Nick’s life is transformed when he meets Paco, a homeless veteran living in a ravine on his beat. The two develop a unique friendship that alters each man’s preconceived notions about the other. Filled with suspense and raw emotion, the bond formed between the two men is nothing short of extraordinary. More than a romance, this is a tale of hope, faith, and caring. Nick Kozlovsky and Grace Robertson have much in common, even though they’re from different backgrounds. And, Paco, the one who’s suffered the greatest brings them together in a way that is poignant.

About the author

Ava Armstrong

Ava Armstrong, new romance and thriller author, lives in a waterfront compound in an undisclosed location in New England, off the grid, with a military-grade security system and six English Bull Terriers.

The highlight of her eight years in college was driving at least one history professor to leave the state (she's been known to sit in the front of the class and challenge liberal professors). She graduated cum laude from a well-known private New England college with degrees in History, English, Business Administration, and Economics. (Note: the professor that gave her a D in Micro-Economics is no longer teaching).

During those college years, she found a brief career in modeling but became much more interested in photography and writing. After a decade-long career in corporate America with a four-billion dollar company, Armstrong focused on her true love: writing literature that could be read by the average human being.

She lives with her husband who resembles a bodyguard, and sleeps with a loaded S&W revolver. She has one child, whom she loves, and her collection of firearms, which she loves slightly less, with an especially warm affection for Glocks.

Her favorite things are the smell of cordite at the shooting range, the motor oil that drips from vintage 1940's Indian motorcycles, and the smell of sandalwood soap. You'd have to read her novels to understand that more deeply. Some people would describe her as a patriot, but she would describe herself as a Constitutionalist and a renegade.

She is currently hard at work on her next novel.

I liked the premise of this book but sadly it failed to deliver. I didn't really feel a strong connection between Grace and Nick. There were quite a lot of grammatical errors and mistakes which I hate. In the early and latter part of the book Grace was described with caramel coloured hair but in the middle of those statements another reference was made to her chocolate coloured hair!!! I wasn't keen on the writing style either, it just didn't seem to flow that well to me. The storyline of Grace's ex didn't come to anything, it just fizzled to nothing so it was pointless even having that in the book. Overall it was a very disappointing book in every way.

This is an awesome story about the life of a police officer and his goal to be helpful. Also a love story, as Nick finds love in a unique way. I have read several works by Ms. Armstrong and this is no doubt one of her best. The scenes detailing the police work is top notch. You can tell Ms. Armstrong did her homework and nailed every detail. Her work is impressive as always.and this is a must read. If you have read any of Ms. Armstrong other books, then you will like this. Our police officers do not get enough credit for what they do for us.

The h had a 4-year affair with her married professor and the H has been sleeping with 2 women who are friends with each other, has serious credit card debt but won't sell his Harley. Detailed scenes with the OW after he met Grace. Ex drama. SO NOT MY THING.

Grace realized Michael was getting all of the benefits in the relationship and after the hot sex, she spent much of her time alone. If she brought up the fact that he was married, Michael would dismiss the conversation and cleverly change the subject. Once he told Grace she was bordering on hysteria when she suggested he divorce his wife.

But, as he examined his own behavior over the past few years, he realized he wasn’t much better than Michael Dean. Kristie, Beth, Lexi, and other girls spent time in his bedroom and he soaked in the adoration they showered upon him because he was a police officer in a uniform. How was he different than Michael Dean? He had tossed girls ten years younger than him into bed on a regular basis. As long as they were 18 years of age and willing, what the hell. But, since he’d met Grace, all of that had changed. She was different. Making love to her was…loving. His heart was involved.

Now I have to give this book some credit. It actually had a plot and most elements in the story were accurate (it really bugs me when "all of a sudden...it's all resolved (how?) and we'll start something else". I don't want to remember I'm sitting in a chair, in the den, just reading. I want to be there, like a fly on the wall and really SEE and and FEEL the story. I hope most of you understand because this author (Ava Armstrong...which I hadn't read any of her work before) actually took me to 'see' the story, not just ho-hum read it. I've said enough. It was really worth reading, FIIVE STAR.

A perfect modern day Fairytale - and things happen but in the end, you just might find a happy ever after!

Grace falls for the Prince charming to discover he is the toad. Grace is a doctor & a volunteer at a local soup kitchen. Nick is a police officer and he tried to take care of his 5 siblings that were left with his aunt when his mother passed away. This couple seems to have missed some frogs song the way but 1-2-3 encounters is trying to see what is in front of them. This is the perfect book for those that need to see shot happens but it's your perspective that makes all the difference. V3, S2

Deep Blue

I liked the perspective of a cop’s life - the goodness and dedication of the individual and difficulty of the job. I also appreciated the attention to the plight of the veteran.

This book flowed nicely for me, even though there were one or two phrases that I wasn't a huge fan of. If you like some depth in your novels, pick this one up.

Ava Armstrong successfully bridges romance with the gritty reality of life in the trenches for veterans, police and those who share their lives. Deep Blue Truth is both a thriller and a heart-warming tale of love that grows within the eye of the storm.
