391 books106 followersKate began reading romance in 1979 when she picked up a copy of Kathleen Woodiwiss's Ashes in the Wind. She read the book from cover to cover in one very long night and was immediately hooked on the genre.
The next morning, she was standing at the door to her local Waldenbooks and when they opened, she hurried inside and asked for everything else written by Woodiwiss. At the same time, she found wonderful books by Rosemary Rogers, Laurie McBain, and Jennifer Blake.
Nearly 10 years later, while working as an advertising copywriter, Kate decided to try writing a romance of her own. After a history of interesting jobs in teaching, retailing, advertising, and nonprofit work, she was determined to add romance author to that list.
After numerous failed attempts over three years, Kate decided to forget writing historical romance and turned to category romance. Six months later, her first story, A Vagabond Heart, was finished. A year later, Harlequin bought the book after Kate won the national 1992 Harlequin Temptation contest. The book was published in 1993 as Indecent Exposure.
Her dream of adding romance writer to her resume came true and in December of 1993 she turned off her alarm clock, shredded her pantyhose, and became a full-time writer.
Since then, Kate has written numerous books for Temptation, Weddings by DeWilde, Harlequin anthologies, Love and Laughter, and Duets. Her new Duet, Three Babies and a Bargain (July 2000) will be her 24th project for Harlequin and All Through the Night (August 2000), a Temptation Blaze, will mark her 25th.
Kate lives in southeastern Wisconsin in a cozy little house in a picturesque village. Two cats also live with her—Tansing, a grumpy Himalayan, and Tibriz, a tortie Persian mix that she rescued from an animal shelter. She enjoys gardening, golf, reading, and romantic movies.

Sejak orangtuanya bercerai, Lily diasuh oleh ibu baptisnya, Miranda yang berprofesi sebagai penulis terkenal. Ketika dewasa, Lily diangkat menjadi asisten Miranda. Miranda meminta Lily untuk melakukan research dan menulis buku yang berjudul "Ten Minutes Seduction" yang isinya adalah how-to-guide menarik perhatian pria dalam waktu 10 menit. Ketika buku itu jadi, Miranda menggunakan nama Lacey St.Clair, dan mendaulat bahwa buku itu (dan semua royaltinya) adalah untuk Lily.
Dalam satu perjalanan ke Paris, Miranda dan Lily bertemu dengan Aidan, seorang sutradara film ternama. Miranda hendak menjodohkan Lily dengan Aidan. Tapi Lily ga pede. Soalnya Aidan itu cakepnya luar biasa, terkenal, sementara dia hanya seorang asisten penulis yang pemalu.
Setahun kemudian, Miranda masih saja dalam misinya menjodohkan Aidan dan Lily. Miranda membatalkan janji bisnis-nya untuk bertemu dengan Aidan di atas pesawat dari New York ke L.A. (Miranda dan Aidan terlibat proyek pembuatan film based on novelnya Miranda). pada saat yang bersamaan, Lily disuruh oleh Miranda untuk pergi ke L.A. mempersiapkan rumah musim panas mereka di sana. So.. ketemulah Lily dan Aidan di pesawat.
Lily yang adalah seorang Pteromerhanophobia (takut terbang/takut dalam pesawat) merasa cemas karena disuruh naik pesawat seorang diri. Tapi... ada Aidan dong yang menenangkan dia dengan cara yang tidak pernah dibayangkan Lily. Sampai pake adegan dalam WC pesawat segala... :D Kejadian di pesawat pun berlanjut sampai ke rumah musim panas-nya Miranda.
Di rumah musim panas itu, Lily dan Aidan baru menyadari kalau mereka dikerjain sama Miranda. Lily pun membalas Miranda, dengan menelpon Miranda dini hari dan bilang dia mau menikah sama Aidan. Tentu saja Miranda terkejut.. tapi Lily tidak memberikan kesempatan pada Miranda, karena habis itu semua komunikasi diputus sama Lily. Eh.. nggak tahunya Miranda menelpon agennya Aidan, dan beritanya bocor ke media :D
Yang saya suka dari novel ini adalah percakapan-percakapan antara Aidan, Lily dan Miranda yang lucu dan menggemaskan. Trus bagaimana Lily dan Aidan membuat komitmen di antara mereka.

It was almost enjoyable. Except for one thing. I strongly dislike it when some manipulative friend/family member plays matchmaker. See, they mean well - maybe - but what they're subconsciously saying is they think the person they keep setting up is a pathetic, lonely loser. Worse, the person almost always feels humiliated when things don't work out.
So our h's godmother has decided that she needs a boyfriend. And, she sets things up so the H/h end up sitting beside each other on the plane. Of course, she'd also manipulated the h into writing a book about which she had no practical experience.
The h had issues. Her parents split up in a high profile divorce while she was a kid, and they dumped her on her godmother. She doesn't believe in HEA, especially in hollyweird. She doesn't see herself as that attractive, has never pursued...to be honest, she has a degree, but it's never stated what field. She seems almost content to just...coast along.
The H...was somewhat unbelievable. He'd only been in hollyweird 3 years when she first saw him, and a year later had all these credentials and was v. cynical. He a) hadn't been around long enough, and b) was a little too good to be true.
The part I did believe - where do you go after a vacation fling. He wanted to pursue it, she was hopeful, life got in the way, and finally they stopped trying. So he tracked her down. She tried to keep him at arms' length but...

I really liked this book, this is the second book I have read by Kate Hoffman and I will continue to follow her. The characters were fun and sexy. I enjoyed the building of their relationship. Good job!

It was a little bit different. Not quite the cookie cutter everything is perfect romance most of these are. Had I felt more of a connection with either of the main characters I would have given it four stars.

Interesting story and plot. Characters were more realistic than other authors. All in all a good read.

So adorable...the interactions between Lily and Aidan were priceless...my kind of romance. If you read it you'll understand. :)

A bit slow reading for me. But in the end the naughty part is the one that keep me smiling. Especially when Lily Hart try to court act Aidan at the party. That totally cute!
