The Mischevious Mrs Maxfiel

Rate this book
***The wrong girl is sometimes The Right One.***

Charlotte Samuels thought she’d be stuck waiting tables at Marlow’s until all her debts are paid off—in about ten thousand years or so.

She definitely didn't expect a marriage proposal from the arrogant Brandon Maxfield who was blackmailed by his father to make her his wife if he didn't want his least favorite cousin to run Maxfield Industries.

Charlotte's instinct was to say HELL NO! but she's stumped by a few obstacles:

1.) His old man Martin Maxfield is dear to her heart and has been recently deteriorating in health.
2.) She gets a million dollars if she stays married to Brandon for a year.
3.) She would rather like the opportunity to teach the attractive but awfully rude man a few lessons he didn't think he needed from a 'teenage gold-digger' which was his term of endearment for her on their first date—er, business meeting.

So what's a girl got to do, right?

Sure, she was young and a little rough around the edges but there was something her would-be husband didn't know about her yet—she's nothing like he ever expected.

Thrust into the glitzy world a standard-issue Mrs. Maxfield would fit perfectly and rule with impeccable social grace, Charlotte will either have to force herself into the mold or break free of it, risking what little she has left for everything that she can gain.

Author of Virtue and Vice and The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield

I started writing when I didn't like the way some of my Sweet Valley books ended. I rewrote them. Before I knew it, I was writing my own stories, handing them out to my friends in class. They were written on spiral notebooks with a sturdy pencil. I still have most of them to this day.

While I enjoy many books, I write romance. Currently, I'm writing New Adult romance. I write highly-opinionated but often innocent heroines who face off infuriating but irresistible alpha males. They might be sometimes sprinkled with a touch of a fairy tale.

Charlotte was being given EXTRA credit in this book, no matter what she is doing!! Comeon

And The FAKE MARRIAGE DRAMA was off the chart plain boring!! Who the hell fake a marriage in this century, grew some balls and tell your father that i won't!!

The relationship between Charlotte and Brandon was like reading a fairytale, soooo sooo fake. I mean the writer should've paid extra focus on how to built a relationship, but NO she just made it like a game!!
Stage One:

Stage Two:

And then she is trying to fight for her rights in the high society by being Mr. So-called Mischievous Maxfield . Well DUH if you can't even pull a good dress. So, why the drama in PROVING YOURSELF. I get it that you were VERY poor than what, not EVERYONE is rich! Stop braging about being a poor while proving yourself worthy and repeating it every time. MAKES YOU LOOK DESPERATE !!

Well, you might be thinking why i still give this book a 2 star when i SHOULD give it a 0.5, well here's the reason!!

BRANDON...!!

“I am no prince if not yours. -Brandon Maxfield”

“To love you fully is to love you in every way possible, even in the smallest, most inconspicuous ways that will eventually all lead back to you.”

“Heroes aren't heroes because they worship the light, but because they know the darkness all to well to stand down and live with it.”

GOD I WANT A BRANDON FOR ME TOO!!

Awesome, such deep characters with more depth then the Atlantic Ocean,
We can't help but fall in love with the love story. The story takes us on a metaphorical
Journey, which is a whirlwind of drama taking us on a roller coaster of emotions, filled with
Everyday turmoil, internal angst, self doubt, the beauty of self discovery and self worth.
Enriched with witty dialogue, it is a well paced book, which will find itself on bookshelves on
It's own credibility. I love this story, and am counting days till I have a hard copy under my name.
Thank you to the amazing author, who has gifted us mere-mortals worthy of reading her work,
And good luck with the future.

Anything between 4.5 to 5 stars!

I will write a review later, hm... maybe not, just read the story, is free on Wattpad, try for few chapters and see how you feel.

But now I just wanted to say I LOVE this book ❤️💞💖😍
I couldn't remember if I ever read a heroine like Charlotte, she so worthy bloody long hours I spent and neglected my work to read her life story.

And yes I recommended this book to you, if you read Contemporary Romance.
My warning though, this story is very long, in fact the love story between Charlotte and Brandon can be end during 50%. After that Charlotte's life beyond her love story with Brandon.

Of course their romance still the most important part in there too, no question about that, Brandon is Charlotte number #1 supporter and I love how this two together. But with Brandon's love Charlotte is blossom and I love to read all her adventures and interact with others!:)
And some of you probably will say Charlotte is too perfect! Lol. It's ok for me, I've read too many lousy heroines lately!:) 😜

And you probably annoying with those supporting casts's stories too but I LOVE it!!!
That's me, when a story this good, I wanted to go on forever. Well, things like that!:)😜.

If the author ever publish it, which I wonder why she didn't do it, this story can be 3 full length novel with lots of supporting cast, because Charlotte's story is epic! Hah!

Anyway, you should read it here.

More than 50 millions readers already read it and tons of them who loving it so much, put it here, eventhought officially you can't buy this book anywhere.

Oh well, I think I need my sleep now.😴😬😂🤣

it has great moments, funny & witty banter but i also roll my eyes A LOT. the story is full of cliches and some scenes are super cheesy. charlotte is supposed to be 19 with no college education but she goes around spouting wisdoms and cleaning up everyone's mess. i just dont buy it. and the big turn off is the fact that charlotte is supposed to be this smart, independent, sarcastic girl that has almost everything figured out, yet when it comes to realizing that Brandon is starting to care for her, she becomes this oblivious girl. the author might've aimed for her to look innocent, but for me it's just plain dumb. and so cliche. and far-fetched and too convenient at times. at the very start of the book i really enjoyed it actually, but i lost interest around chapter 8.

and one more thing: Brandon; he's a walking cliche of every brooding, moody, rude, overprotective, rakishly handsome, extremely wealthy alpha male you can find in almost every romance novel nowadays. nothing original.

Ninya Tippett is by far one of my most favorite authors to date. I initially came across this book upon a recommendation from my friend but steered clear from it because I didn't want to spend time reading "cliche" hopeless romantic stories. Months passed and I decided to give this book a shot. Remember when I said "cliche"? I take it back. Haha! I absolutely LOVE THIS!! Gosh I love this book. One of my favorites.

The way this was so well made came to me as a surprise considering I read it on Wattpad. I say this not to bash wattpad writers, trust me I have great respect and admiration for these promising writers :), just that the way Ninya wrote this was at a whole new caliber--uncommonly encountered in such a platform. It was just so well put together that my heart secretly hopes this will get published into a physical book so that I'll get to actually feel the pages and know that I have this wonderful piece of art to enjoy for well--forever ^^. *fingers crossed Oh and it wouldn't hurt for this to have an official soundtrack because I think a part of the magic and draw of this book came from the music that came with it. Ninya's words + music= PURRRFECTION I'M TELLING YOU!

Anyways, more on the review. As you may have already read In the overview of this book, basically the plot revolves around Charlotte and Brandon. They were coerced into a marriage that they initially didn't and couldn't even fathom to commit and basically everything catapults from there. Now you may think that "Oh that's typical. forced to get married. Falls in love maybe. blah blah blah", but there was something amazing in the way the story was executed that it totally overpowered all that would be considered cliche in a plot line such as this. Needless to say, this book had spunk. So much spunk. The dialogue was beautifully crafted. It left you pondering on life and love and desperately wishing you had Charlotte's sharp tongue because she was just so entertainingly witty, opinionated and lovable at the same time. Thank God the leading lady was no pushover! She was headstrong yet vulnerable. A character so well developed in my opinion. Well..in fact ALL THE CHARACTERS were well made. Martin. Brandon. Everyone.

I think you will come to enjoy the fact that the story not only revolves around Charlotte and Brandon but rather gives a look into all the character's profiles. That each character has a story to tell themselves and how each one somehow intertwines with the story of C&B and how together they ultimately lead to each others own self discovery, that in the end you may even come to love characters you initially hated ;)

I just loved how all the dialogue made sense. A perfect blend of humor and wit. There was always something to learn and take home in every chapter. Always a line worth remembering. A quote worth writing. the quaint little details in the story make it so appealing. And the masterful craftsmanship of the author will seal the deal for you. Though it may have been epic long, the fast pace run of the story will leave you not wanting to put it down. I guarantee no regrets in reading this story.

PS. The music that comes with this book is amazebeans. Give them all a listen :))

Ninya Tippett did a wonderful job of writing a book that's both heartbreaking and captivating. When I started reading, it was hard for me to stop and I had a lot of sleepless nights because of this.
The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield is so full of emotion that its hard not to connect to the characters, especially Charlotte. It's inspiring how she can still stand tall with a smile on her face after all she's been through, and how she can help those who has done nothing but try to destroy her. It gives you an idea about what true strength is.

First read it a long time ago on wattpad but I've reread certain parts of the book many times and they never fail to make me smile.
I am not usually a big fan of age gaps preceding over five to six years but I loved the chemistry between Charlotte and Brandon.
This book is definitely worth a read if you like your heroines feisty and heroes charming.

What the hell do people like about this book? Just what? I have never been so restlessly annoyed with a book in all my life! There's never been one book I left unfinished but I'm barely starting chapter 12 of this one and I'm having a hard time forcing myself to keep going. The main characters are just too damn infuriating and I just keep getting this unsufferable itch every time I read phrases in verbal tenses I percieve ad wrong. I read books in english because I want to learn the language better so please, could someone tell me if my suspicions are correct or if this author actually knows what she's doing? Here's an example:
"Since I was friends with Martin, I've heard(I had heard?) enough about him - both good and bad - but he just always seemed(he had just always seemed?) like a character in a book that I've read (I had read?) over and over again and who always stayed (had always stayed?) confined to the pages."
Are the changes I made in brackets correct or am I judging the author's grammar whongly?
Aside from my grammatical issues, there is also the fact that I find the characters excedingly unrealistic and unnatural, just as I find their so called love for one another unnatural and forced. I hate stories in which the hero and heroine fall head over heels for each other in no time at all when there is no solid reason for it to happen aside from a mere physical attraction. I want to roll my eyes each time she has trouble resisting his "drugging kisses" while they are in private and they have no reason to "pretent" to be in love because she is just too damn attracted to him even though she is fully aware that he intends to keep screwing his mistress even after they get marred. And, of course, she seeks him out at night when she has can't sleep because she's tormented by thoughts of her careless and uncaring parents and she wants the comfort of his arms (massive eye roll). She has a charming personality most of the time bus her behaviour aroud him is just so so so so sooooo annoying I truly can't stand her! I keep getting the impression that she has no pride and no self preservation.
I don't know if I'll ever find the strength to swallow back my annoyance with these characters and finish this read. I get a feeling this will be the first one I ever put aside without knowing how it ends.

This was a very long story but it was so good that I couldn't put it down. Brandon and Charlotte where both great characters I really liked them a lot. But they also had times that I just wanted to slap them silly for there stupidity.

This book also had characters that I really hated in the beginning like I wanted them to be hit by a car or something worse so they could just disappear. But they all had a lot of secrets that when it all came out I saw them differently and they ended up being okay characters.

Overall I really enjoy this book.

The Mysterious Mrs. Maxfield is by far one of the most creative, heart-warming, and thrilling romance novel I've ever read. The novel itself was filled with coherently written dialogue with its own personal quirks that made the book fun such as cheeseburgers and fries or Converse sneakers. The protagonist, Charolette Maxfield, is one of the most relatable and realistic heroines to learn the mysteries of riches, fame, and the journey love has to offer. Brandon Maxfield, Charlotte's husband, is by far the most romantic spouse to honor and respect his wife. As a writer, Ninya is an expert at changing a reader's values to respect oneself and take the time to find happiness and strength as a single body before giving it to someone of ordinance. If you are lucky enough to read this novel, you will discover that these loved ones are anything but a typical.

Due to the recommendations of GR members, I decided to sign up with wattpad in order to read this story. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. I didn't think I would connect with the h, seeing that she's 19 years old. But her spirit and snarky comments captured my attention. She was the antithesis of the Alpha H. I liked the story and the secondary characters. Yes, I thought the story was a bit too long and may need some refinement. The h was too perfect in her relationsips including those who have set out to harm her. But I also liked that the author made the h realize how the h didn't actually practice what she preached.

I look forward to reading the author's future stories.

F*CKING LOVE THIS SO MUCH!

As aforementioned in the synopsis, the story starts off with Charlotte Samuels, a financially unstable nineteen year old working at a diner, whilst simultaneously trying to pay off a debt unfairly left for her. Charlotte's current monetary status presents a suited opportunity for sexy arrogant Brandon Maxfield's proposition- marry the illustrious Mr. Maxfield himself in exchange for a million dollars. Not only did the proposal benefit her, but his marital union with the humorous sarcastic-filled Charlotte would please his father as well as secure his position as the CEO of Maxfield Industries.

Whilst the hard-headed female battles through stereotypes, social class and acceptance of peers in a world wholly contrasting with her less-than comfortable lifestyle, she must also battle past demons. Ninya Tippett is an author that expresses the protagnist's intelligence through amusing banter with other characters and the responses to those who show her disdain. The scenes were an absolute treat, and, had this book been a cake, I would have eaten it all in one sitting. I'd eat the whole damn cake instead of one slice.

My favourite characters, you should ask? Let me introduce you to my favourite book heroines of all time: Charlotte Maxfield - she's a spicy women who, despite her younger age, has an old sould albeit a lot witty and energetic and full of life. You see through her actions that she's mature but still has a lot to learn, and as the story progresses you fall in love with the woman she becomes. Brandon Maxfield is an exasperating kind of man- stubborn and completely unbeknownst to a woman's emotions. Picture a rugged man, successful and sinfully delicious. One can dream for a man of this sort, can they?

The characters in the book were all realistic- some made you want to hit your head against a brick wall whereas others were more likeable *cough* Jake Hastings *cough*. Nevertheless, Brandon Maxfield is a complete babe. A rake at times- as so eloquently put by Charlotte- but still a gorgeous man himself.

Yes, this is Brandon His Sexiness Maxfield.

Say what you want, I'm definitely enjoying him too much.

There were scenes in the book that had you whirling off into the abyss, wondering what the heck was going to happen next, and I was completely consumed in the writing. Some parts had me wanting to rewrite the story (but deep down I wouldn't have changed a thing.)

One of the reasons this novel has me utterly astounded and just thoroughly impressed was that the cover (sorry but I think the cover needs to be thought over haha) definitely did not correspond with the book. The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield had me feeling all kinds of emotions. The scenes designed for sadness had me upset and heartbroken, and the happy romantic ones made me feel loved. I loved how there were light-hearted scenes with lovely humour and parts dedicated to seriousness. Loved this book overall. Fortunately, the author has an inane ability to make the readers feel exactly what is meant to be felt, and the descriptive wordings of paragraphs is an added bonus. One of my favourite scenes would be where Brandon describes Charlotte's effect on him- hilarious as well as sappily romantic.

Ninya Tippett has done an excellent job with this novel, which makes me wonder if, perhaps, she knows exactly what Charlotte has underwent? Always an advocate for anything of this quality, I recommend this book to young adults and adults, especially those interested in romance, relationship drama and humour. I'm looking forward to more work from this author.

I shall wait for more, but until then ...

"I'll sue you," he murmured, tightening his arms around me again, pressing me close against his body as the tip of his nose grazed mine. "For descending upon me with no warning at all-or at least a manual- and knocking me off my feet until I was falling hard and fast for good. I now have to live a life dependent on your welfare and happiness, and forever suffering this soul-deep love you've inflicted on me for which there is no cure." -Brandon Maxfield

The struggle of finding something worth-reading in Wattpad is real, but I thank the heavens for giving me a chance to bump into this great, great rom-com, 'The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield'! VERY RECOMMENDED!

I really do love it so I made a little synopsis+story review/rant below. Enjoy!!!

The most eligible bachelor, Brandon Maxfield is the heir to the multi-billion company, Maxfield Industries but his father, Martin, won't let him take what's rightfully his, easily. In order to be CEO, Martin had one condition: marry the orphan and waitress from Marlow's,
Charlotte Samuels. Not believing in love, Brandon decided to make wager with Charlotte by being his wife for a year, in exchange of a million dollars. Charlotte can marry her prince, pay her bills and Brandon can be CEO. It's a win-win. But little do Brandon know that Charlotte is more than meets the eye and that he's in a deep, deep trouble. *it's actually written on Charlotte's POV, sorry if I made it seem like Brandon's and I'm lazy to edit*

It is the typical Prince and the Pauper story, Cinderella-ish if you like. I guess, this kind of storyline is comparable to our worn-out, well-loved tee: no matter how often we use it, we'd still love it because it's familiar and for the simple reason that we wish to be swept off our feet someday. Oh my.

So, theme-aside, what's so brilliant about this story is the brilliance of the author. Ninya Tippet is a poet, metaphor genius and a plot expert. She gave life to great story characters, all whom were given enough growth, and it's so genius! And let's talk about the plot because I just can't stop adoring it. The pacing really worked for me because it's not only about Brandon-Chatlotte, everyone in the story was given a chance to tell their story so it's a major point!
Aside from that, this author knows how to keep the chapters rolling- long but still with sass and class! It took me 4 days to finish because I need to properly absorb everything, I just had too! Are you familiar with those times while reading, that you just have to take a pause and breathe, then you cringe, roll over your bed, become spastic, you shriek like you don't care? It happened to me A-FREAKING-LOT while reading this story. When it happened to me again and again, I know that what I have in my hands is a TREASURE. Up until now, my entire being is thanking me.

I feel oblige to warn you though- reading this can make you hate your life a little because knowing that Brandon Maxfield doesn't exist (like in my life) hurts like HELL y'all. He's so perfect, and I just hate it. He set the bar for the 'PERFECT PRINCE CHARMING' category SO DAMN HIGH, I dunno if anyone can push him off the top right now.

Is this story recommended? HELL TO THE YEAAAAAHHH!!! Honestly, I find it difficult to find something worth-reading in wattpad so, I'm really fortunate to have this chance. It didn't disappoint me; not that much. You wanna know why I said that? I'll put it below... it can be a spoiler.

So to conclude this sort-of-review, I do encourage you guys to read 'The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield' if you wanna read a story of great quality, with great characters! The only thing that can disappoint you I'm sure is that, you'll wish there's more Brandon-Charlotte happening!

-------why I'm disappointed?
DONT SCROLL DOWN IF YOU DONT WANNA GET SPOILED, sort of.

I REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED WITH THEIR PARIS TRIP.

I WANT TO GET DETAILS ON CHARLOTTE'S COLLEGE LIFE.

I NEED CHAPTER OF THOSE. HUHU :(

3 1/2 heart-warming stars

This was mmy first experience with wattpad and I found it to be a very interesting, if distracting, medium. It took me quite a bit longer to read this story, because I was constantly getting side-tracked by comments left by other users, or navigating to other pages based on the author's recommendation. It seems that the author submitted a new chapter weekly, and from her comments at the beginning of each chapter, she took her fans' advice seriously. I am very grateful that the story was complete by the time I started though!

The story is a Cinderella-like fairy tale, which is mentioned sporadically through the book. The main characters, as well a the secondary characters were almost too likeable; even the villians, with the exception of one, completely redeemed themselves. The h was full of little life lessons, that, after awhile, kind of came across as fortune cookies. She learned them from her rich, elderly benefactor; read fairy-godfather. The H was a jerk at first, but quickly falls (as does everyone else) for the spunky,tell-it-like-it is, big hearted h.

The writing seemed effortless and flowed seemlessly from scene to scene. Her use of metaphors was hilarious at times, but also became a little too much. There was a great build up of the sexual tension between the main characters, and I would say the steam was maybe...PG? It was tastefully done. She doesn't really allow the reader interpret much on their own, the h seems,to me,to be Ms. Tippett's voice. Because of this, I feel that her target audience is a younger crowd (15 and up).

Ms. Tippett is still new to writing full novels for the public's consumption; she's never had her work published. I hope she does something about this, because she really is a fantastic story teller. This is the only story I've read, but she's got a huge following on wattpad that hangs on her every word. In my opinion, she could publish this story with the right editor to clean it up and streamline it a little more! It is a prtetty long read (I've no idea how to tell), but I never once got bored or even considered stopping before the end. A great, light, fairy tale read!

After one month and 2 days of reading this story I can finally say that I love it. I truly completely love it. It deserves more than 5 stars actually, it's really that good. I love and like most of the characters except for one that I wish for to rot in hell!
I love Charlotte and her way of thinking with all of the metaphors. I certainly found a connection to her cause it's somehow we do think in the same way at some situations. If she was a real character in this life we would be best friends for sure. We have a lot in common I somehow find myself in her. She have taught a lot of things about life, trust, pain and so on.

I would later update a proper review of The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield on my blog. I believe it would be live on Friday or Saturday (next week).

As for now all what I want to say is that if you haven't yet read this presious novel then your missing a lot! So what are you waiting for go ahead to wattpad and start reading!

Charlotte Maxfield is the best human in the entire universe ( what the author wants you to believe), and talks like a wise old man who has been wandering the universe for an infinite amount of years, but knows nothing.

Don't get me wrong, I love this book but there are way too many sub-plots, characters and philosophical musings. The age gap is a little unbelievable when you also factor in the 'wise beyond my years' trope. The book also very much worships Charlotte, a little too much it becomes cringey. Some of the ways she acts and talks is really pretentious as well and is wrapped up with the guise of wiseness.

With an editor this could really be a great romance novel.

There were parts I really liked and parts I found a just kinda... Meh... I don't know how I feel about the hero complex given to Charlotte, I never really seem to like it in a character. A little bit is good, but sometimes they have too much. Characterisation is well developed as can be seen in charlottes character, but her hero complex gets in the way, a good plot device but makes me hate her as a character.
I also felt towards the middle that it dragged on a little bit and it annoyed me how everyone got a second chance, I think it's a good life lesson but some of the second chances felt a little too forced or unrealistic that the recipient would actually of changed they're life around so much.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, UNDOUBTEDLY HANDS DOWN THE BEST WATPPAD STORY EVER!

Charlotte, oh Charlotte Samuels, the most sarcastic, witty, heads up, determined, passionate, dauntless and the cutest character ever. She is just the ideal feminist to be. Her witty comebacks saves us so many times in real-life. She's like an inspiration, she is literally goals. Charlotte is the the epitome of patience and perseverance and sarcasms and wit and charm, she is just what every girl desires to be.

Brandon, well in a nutshell, he is just what every girl that wants to be Charlotte wants.

Together they both make this story one of the best Romance I have ever read.

A very popular huge Wattpad book (around 1000 pages on Kindle), it's a charming, sweet, cute romantic fiction which is really well written, witty, engaging and very easy to like (no doubt why it's so popular). Preferably it should have ended by chapter 20 as it starts to feel thin and unnecessarily stretched after that -- it makes sense as a Wattpad book to continue after that but as a typical book, it got too tiring so I called it a day then. Overall, it's a lovely light hearted, breezy read.

It was the best book ever! Brandon and Charlotte were goals! There was enough drama to last a lifetime. Emotions raged wars inside me during this book. I literally cried. But in the end, everything turned out good for the heroes. And villains (that backstabbing Don) are rotting in a dark abyss of nothingness because they deserve it even though they're not real. One of the best books I've ever read. A must!

It´s more like 2.5*

At beginning I thought this is going to be an awesome book. And it would be if it ended 10 chapters sooner. It´s full of qliches, and Charlotte is mending in EVRYTHING. And don´t let me start on nicknames or what hapended on tea brunch, it´s too much and in mz personal opinion book would be much better without this. I wanted to quit 5 chapters till end and I keept asking my self why I am tormeting myself whith this book.

Loved it! 4.5 stars... It would have been 5 stars if the girl wasn't 19.

Probably one of the best Wattpad stories I've ever read.

And yes, it's a little chick lit, maybe at some parts even made for younger audience but I've loved it anyway.
