Kyle Bradford was a meat cutter in a grocery store when the sounds first thundered across the skies, and the world changed forever. The doors had opened, and something was coming through.
Once the initial shock and confusion wore off, and those in charge realized what was happening, mankind seemed to coalesce like never before. National boundaries no longer mattered. Religion, race, color and creed seemed to pass away in a flash. Old enemies put their differences aside. The only thing that did matter was survival.
As a species.
Now, Kyle is on a mission to save what’s left of our world. Or die trying.

Splits by Chuck Grossart is a great little piece of science fiction. It plays out as a sci-fi but is also clearly a post apocalyptic story. This is a novella that wastes no time and drops you right in to our story. I enjoyed another novel by Grossart, The Phoenix Descent and was looking forward to reading more from him. I stumbled across Splits on Amazon and jumped right in.
This is a first contact novel done up thriller style. We get very little background or character development but we do get suspense and action. This would make a great summer blockbuster movie.
I enjoyed the spin that Grossart put on the story. A fun afternoon read from a talented author.
Chuck Grossart knows how to keep the thrills coming!
This is the 4th book I've read from this author and he doesn't dissapoint! This book, like his others, open fast & furious: hooking the reader immediately and keeping the tension high right through to the final page. Highly recommend this novella and this author.
I really love the premise and the characters were great and real. Having military action written by one who understands it makes it much more real. Looking forward to more from Mr. Gossart.
A novella I picked up for free. Not a bad read, though I confess I skimmed a lot of the very substantial back story to the 'invasion' and the MC ending up the the military. I found it a shame the author didn't spend more time on the mission introduced in the first chapter, because that hooked me in enough to keep reading to the end.
Chuck Grossart writes strange and obscure books. I love it. He gets a idea and twists it this way and that and turns it into a great story. I am definitely a fan. Loved this book.
I wanted something quick to read, rather than I full book, this would make an good tv film, in fact I could see the cameras off to one side! I'm now going to take a look at the author's Amazon Award winning book.
I wanted to like this book. I have like some of Chuck's other things but I just couldn't get into this.
First I didn't realize it was a Novella until I started (which is fine), however it seems that the story was so basic and just not fleshed out. I liked the idea but it seemed that it was really an outline for the first part of a much larger book.
It felt a little like some of Peter Cawdron novellas where they introduce a huge idea and the quickly wrap it up leaving a lot to the imagination but this just didn't quite hit those notes.
Giving it two starts for the idea but glad it was just a Novella or I might have just ended up putting it down.
